Hufflepuffs! Follow me!

Recommended Posts

Jazz Turpin-Schofield

The feast was fabulous, as always. Wigglesworth was a little...odd. She remembered how relieved she’d been when Headmaster Weasley had taken over for him. He was more than dotty! Of course, she did sort of like the Hufflepuff winning the cup thing - if it were only true.

Ohgoshohsosh...it was the end of the feast! She had to be all Head Girl-ish now! Jazz squeezed Dusky’s hand under the table, and stood.

“Hufflepuff First Years, this way! Follow me and the prefects! Guin, can you grab that one? She seems a bit shy. Candace, Hannah, can you two follow the last ones, so we don’t have any strays?” Dusky better stay by her side. She gave her friend a look, and started walking.

What a relief she didn’t have to try and herd the new students up the moving stair cases. Getting them down these stairs was enough. “Watch it!” she called, as she caught an overeager badger tripping down the stairs.

Head Girl. Not what she expected. Even after all these weeks staring at the badge, she still felt odd about it. As long as Dusky was around she’d do alright. It was pretty nerve wracking, though. Especially with the new...”No, do NOT go down those stairs! Not unless you want to be eaten by the new Slytherins! Now keep together, everyone.”

((Welcome First Year Hufflepuffs !- and of course, welcome back to all other Hufflepuffs. Please feel free to post in this thread that you are leaving the feast and progressing towards the common room. You can find the entranceway if you follow this link. To my fellow prefects, please join me in herding the younger students towards the commonroom where we will continue the welcome.))

Melinda Miranda Snoddgrass

Melinda was enjoying herself immensely amongst all the chaos that was the first night back at school at Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. At home where she had no siblings and lived the quiet life with her two parents, a handful of house elves, her pet Hedgehog, and one fat lazy cat it was boring as can be, but here? Oh the glorious chaos! Hundreds of students milling about! Bossy older students, shouting professors, gliding ghosts, that Jazzy person who was now apparently Head girl useful information to Melinda because she stalked head people, confused little first years ...

"Hey you!" she said to one small first year who was headed off in the wrong direction, not following Jazz's orders to 'follow her and the prefects' very well at all. M&M, helpful as she was, yanked the kid back into the yellow and black group by the back of his robes, rather forcefully, "Wrong way." she explained to him, smiling quite cheerfully at the frightened expression on the kid's face. Yessirre, it was good to be a third year.

Deirdre Grey

Deirdre felt a bit dizzy when the hat was removed from her head and she toddled towards the Hufflepuff table because that was what the hat had shouted at the end. Boy, was she glad that Naomi had told her a bit about the houses and their colours, or else she'd not know where to go. Or would she? The cheering was kind of a dead giveaway. They seemed to be really happy that Deirdre was about to join them.

The last few steps she took before reaching a free seat at the table had an unmistakeable bounce in them; and Deirdre grinned at all those strangers who smiled at her and patted her on the back immediately and said all sorts of welcoming things - before falling quiet again and waiting for the hat to announce the next verdict, while Deirdre scanned the table, the faces of everyone that was seated there already. This seemed like a good house, even if Naomi wasn't there. She had gone to Gryffindor only a few minutes before Deirdre had stepped up to the stool.

It seemed like none of the students she had exchanged a few words with already were about to join her. Not a familiar face at her house table.

Maybe this year at this school wouldn't be so bad though. The people seemed really accepting of the new students... Deirdre was prevented from falling into a brooding mood by loud cheers that erupted around her. Another one had been sorted into Hufflepuff. Whee! Hurrah!

And so it went on for a while... and finally the Sorting Hat was taken away, and the Headmasters spoke - Deirdre found that Wigglesworth guy really funny, and of course she took everything he said seriously because she didn't know any better - and then food appeared on the table, just like so. From one moment to the next. And how it smelt! So delicious! So many things! Deirdre's jaw dropped at all the wonderfully arranged dishes. If they tasted half as good as they looked...

A long time later, everyone was stuffed and happy. And oddly enough, so was Deirdre. Obediently, she toddled off with the crowd of her fellow yellow-and-black-clad Hufflepuffs that were all ushered towards the common room that she had been told about during the feast; she was ushered past moving portraits and floating candles.

Guest Delilah Gaul

Her head was rushing after sitting on one small stool her fate for the rest of her school days had been decided; she was now a official Hufflepuff first year. but no one else seemed to have followed in her footsteps, all the people she'd met previously had been put elsewhere and it wasn't a nice feeling to be sitting at a table full of strange new people, strange new and tall people. Scary. The food was laid out and everyone seemed to be eating, so Delilah picked up a few things and began to eat, no one was dropping dead so Delilah hoped it wasn't poisoned. It was, in all truth, very good food and at least Delilah didn't have to worry about putting up with sloppy grey gruel for lunch dinner and tea for the rest of her school life, like her mother had hinted on.

A very tall person started speaking and so naturally Delilah turned to listen, she seemed to be in charge but she was too young to be a teacher, because form what Lilah had seen on them, they were a bit oldish. Not all of them, but most of them. Maybe they were going to take them off the school grounds, let them be free, because they were really nice people and wouldn't let the nasty school torture the children, then again it was Delilah’s mother who said the school wasn’t very nice leading the small blonde to think up these evil plots so most likely it would be like every other boarding school she'd gone too, boring dull and school-like 24/7. She let out a tiny little sigh and stood up, still wide eyed from the whole rush of the sorting process, and eating maybe a bit too much sugar. But it wasn't that bad, at least she wasn't bouncing off the walls like some people did when they a bit too much sugar ... bad memories.

Hufflepuff First Years, this way! Follow me and the prefects! Guin, can you grab that one? She seems a bit shy. Candace, Hannah, can you two follow the last ones, so we don’t have any strays?

Not wanting to be left behind and look like a complete and utter idiot on her first day Delilah got a bit near the front, she still didn't know anyone, she'd heard the occasional name being tossed around and said hi to a few people but that was about it, it was as if because she was vertically challenged, okay short, that no one really paid her much attention but still the first years seemed to look like a nice bunch so they'd welcome her in wouldn’t they? Or would they have to seen as she was a first year too? Really when would she stop fussing over things like that. Shrugging her shoulders slightly Delilah looked forward to seeing what would be her living room and bedroom for the next 7 years. Really the anticipation was almost unbearable because of all the first years they were kind of walking slowly but that didn’t bother her because she'd get there ... eventually.

Melinda Parne

Having a magical counterpart at home had scarcely prepared the freshly sorted Hufflepuff for her first night at Hogwarts. The pressure of the ceremony itself faded when she had taken her seat, happy to have passed the judgment of the hat and welcomed by her new house. One by one, more first years joined her at the table, as well as spreading out amongst the other three long rows of students in the Great Hall. Most of the students had looked as relieved as she felt now when the hat called out the appropriate house name, and she couldn’t help but feel happy for those that smiled when they heard that they, too, were welcomed at the school. She had never seen so many people enjoying their first day of school, but that, she assumed, was part of the magic at Hogwarts.

The feast that appeared after the sorting easily overwhelmed the young girl as she tried to take in the grand splendor and variety all at once. Every plate on the table was filled from one end to the other, a colossal amount of food that could fill every body in the room. The best part of the feast, she noted, was that it had appeared and not been served at all.

All too soon, the beauty of the ceremony and the feast were fading into the night. Her heavy eyelids told her that it must be getting late, although the excitement was likely to keep her up for hours yet. The entire room stood up at once, older students marked with glinting pinned P’s taking charge of herding students to their respective house rooms, a generalization that Melinda fit into well.

Filing out of the Great Hall, the Prefects led their groups into different directions, two of which that headed up, and two that headed for the underground. Melinda remembered the sight that the castle had been from the outside, and it seemed to go up forever. As the Hufflepuff crew descended down a set of stairs, she wondered if the school went below the earth as much as it went above it, and decided she wouldn’t mind finding out –

No, do NOT go down those stairs! Not unless you want to be eaten by the new Slytherins!” It was the voice of one of the older girls that led the troup to intervene before the new Hufflepuff lost herself in the castle. Melinda flushed with embarrassment for having let her mind and feet wander too far, hurrying back to the group, hoping to blend in with the rest of the crowd and not be remembered as “that girl that was almost eaten by the new Slytherins.”

Cira Silver

After being sorted, welcome to HufflePuff and eating, they decided it was time to herd the newbies. Still full, and way to excited Cira didn’t want to move. Moving meant having to end her most exciting day of her life yet, and Cira wasn’t ready. But then, she heard something about her being shy. Or so she thought they were talking about her.Well, of course Cira was shy. She had an accent. And well, with her past encounters with many other children her age, she got made fun of. And that was never good.

During the whole feast she didn’t say anything, and well, that was wasn’t helping. So, slowly but surely she got up fro her seat and followed the people with the ‘p’ badges out of the hall and into another hall, except this time it really was a hall, not the place where they were eating kind of hall.

Down the stairs they went, Cira wasn’t watching where she was going and often ran into people, walls, suits of armor and other things too. Eventually they went down a flight of stairs and stopped. Cira didn’t stop and ran into yet another person. “Oops” She said, before blushing, now everyone would know she sounded different. ‘Great, let the teasing begin’ she thought quickly.

Alyss Holems

I am so glad that that is over Alyss thought as she made her way to the Hufflepuff table with confidence. She hadn't really cared which house she got into as long as it wasn't Slytherin. Now she was going to work as hard as she could and make her house proud. Alyss was a tall girl for her 11, almost 12, years, she had long straight brown hair that she wore in a professional looking bun most of the time. She had blue eyes and pale skin and was not heavy but not skinny.

Alyss sat down at the Hufflepuff table and knew that she was going to be very pleased to be their and hoped that when her sister came next year that she would be in Hufflepuff as well.

Sabella turned around after nearly tippling down the stairs.

"Oh hello, I.... I'm so sorry! Are you ok?" Sabella sighed as she looked at this new girl. She was pretty, she looked about as confused as she did as to what was going on. She guessed the girl was a first year, like herself.

'Well, I am talking to her.... maybe i should try to be friends..... it'll be a nice change from my siblings.' She thought as she streatched her arm out to the new girl.

"Hi, my name's Morrows, Sabella Morrows. Yours?" She asked this new girl.

Jinx McCauley

Jinx smiled when the hat had shouted out Hufflepuff. Jinx was a very loyal person and she knew that was the house she would fit into best. It also helped that a few people she had met at Diagon ally and on the train were also sorted into Hufflepuff.

Jinx had enjoyed the feast greatly and laughed a little at the ex head teacher as she noticed some of the startled expressions on some of the professors and older students. Jinx was glad that Hogwarts had been reopened 10 years she pondered shame about some of the recent activities though which had damaged the school in places.

“Hufflepuff First Years, this way! Follow me and the prefects!

Jinx was brought from her thoughts and looked a little bewildered but she noticed that her fellow first years were making a move. She smiled happily as got up from the table following the throng of students hoping she wouldn’t get lost.

Jinx’s head was constantly turning to observe the castle that she accidentally bumped into some one.

Kay Hart

Kay got up as the feast ended. She felt very small all of a sudden, but was relieved as the Head Girl, who was thankfully Hufflepuff, called out. She got up and followed, getting squashed by the sudden rush of 1st years.

She spotted a few people from the train, and headed over to join them.

Jinx McCauley

The bump caused Jinx to actually look where she was going and who was around her.

“Kay” called Jinx they had got separated in the crowed. Jinx had first bumped into Kay in Diagon ally and then on the train she was pleased they were in the same house so had sat with her at the Hufflpuff table. Jinx quickly made her way through they crowd toward her so they could head to the common room together.

Neila Stone

Pulling the zip up, Neila straightens her neat (new) white blouse, and leaves the toilets room, marching back to the great hall. With some luck, The sorting is about half way now, and she'll be just on time to sit back between her friends pretending she was there all the while. Her bladder was pushing all the ride, but for her own mental and physical safety she realised waiting 10 days will be better than using the train toilets. So she was biting her fist all the ride, with arriving she waited the polite 5 minutes almost up to her breaking point, and then scooted off the seat and ran as fast as she could.

This was relieving, really, it was as if it was magic. Whenever your relieved yourself your mood went high above the sky and you were filled with happiness. So there she was, her face smiling towards the world, skipping through the empty halls. It was really good to be back, more mature, more drop-deadingly gorgeous, as a 6th year. Yes, she truly didn't make enough of the expreience last year, lurking in her room, ignoring her duties. She was so upset with herself, that she had some new year resolutions - which was the thing she was trying to avoid with all strength, knowing she will never follow it - to be a good student, a good prefect, a good friend, a good person. Well, at least try her best to.

Optimistic thoughts marching through her head, Neila walked back in, grinning. Why, why were they grouping next to the tables? was the sorting over? it can't be.. was she there for so long? really, she had a lot to get out of her system, but the sorting is such a long and soul narrowing process - and it was over so fast? Neila doubled her pace and neared the Huffelpuff table, just in time to see Jazz gathering our new ickles around her, trying to lead them safely to their rooms. Neila glances around - yes, they seemed like a fine gang. Maybe this time the cup will really be theirs. Naah. Neila shook her head to get out of her illusion and called "Hello!" wearing her friendy mask.

Henry Stewart

Henry grinned as he walked down the stairs for another year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He had to admit it. He was really excited for this year. No longer was he one of the youngest students in the entire school. Now there were people there that were younger than he was and he had already been through the experience of being a first year. Time to help out the younger ickles, eh? Following the prefects' directions to follow them down to the common room, Henry aligned himself along with a few other Hufflepuffs, right behind a crowd of first year girls.

Typical.

The girl to guy ratio still hadn't changed. There was still a majority of girls wandering about. Even though they were younger than he was, Henry still felt awkward around them, but he figured he should probably help them out anyways. After all, he had just been a first year last year. Tapping one in the shoulder, Henry said, "Hey. Need help getting settled in and everything? I'm Henry, by the way. Henry Stewart." Yeah. Introductions were always good. Especially when he was still one of the tallest people for his age...which meant he was definitely taller than most of the ickles.

Needless to say, it could be quite intimidating. Especially when you were already the youngest in the whole school. Henry vaguely remembered his first time walking into the Hufflepuff Common Room and being slightly anxious and scared about all of the older students. "If you need help with anything like dueling and first year classes," Henry added, "You can always talk to me or a prefect or something."

Not that he would be spending a lot of his time with the ickles. Henry planned on dueling. And dueling a lot. He wanted to start winning against the older people who had creamed him last year simply because he didn't have all that much in the way of experience. But this year, he did. Which made dueling all the more exciting.

Yes. Hopefully second year would turn out even better than first year had.

Professor Prewett

Professor Prewett stood with the other professors at the end of the Sorting Feast and cast out her slightly older and more experienced gaze across the crowds of students, both new and old. There was never a dull moment here at the castle and with students populating the halls once again, any thoughts of peace and quiet left Samantha's brain for the next ten months.

She wasn't unhappy about all the constant noise that would carry through the various halls and corridors, oh no. She was delighted to see what mischief the various trouble makers would get into this year. Especially her Hufflepuffians.. they were so cute when they were being mischievious and devious.

*cough* And then she would give them a stern talking to, and probably detention. *cough* Yep yep, she was a good Head of House and would do her job. Didn't mean she couldn't enjoy it though, right?

Miss Turpin, the school's new head girl, (Of course Prewett was beaming with pride that one of her houselings had stolen the badge for the second time since the school's reopening!) was cooperating with the other Hufflepuff prefects to get all the new and old badgers to the common room.

One might wonder why the house professors, or even the Head of House didn't take over all the new students of their respective houses and get them safely to the commons... but then perhaps that same 'one' would notice the various professors taking off to different parts of the castle to start their rounds.

Yes indeed, the first night back for the students was a very exciting night for the professors. They got to walk allllll over the castle and patrol for lost ickles. What fun. Prewett started walking towards the doors out of the Great Hall behind the majority of the student population, acknowledging a few "welcome back!"s and "hello, professor!"s from some students.

Just then a loud, "Hey!? Where's everyone going?!" was heard from a young boy, who had the misfortune of his voice cracking in the middle of the shouted question. Prewett looked back to see a small Gryffindor who had apparently fallen asleep at some point during the sorting feast.

Haha, Prewett glanced at Giordano and they exchanged a look that encompassed several things:

1. Dear Merlin... it's the start of another year.

2. Here we go.. two minutes after the feast and there's a problem.

**and 4. At least it's not one of mine. Ha.

(Number 3 is a nice little secret from student ears and eyes... *patpat*)

A Gryffindor was already scurrying back into the Great Hall to take care of the ickle and so Prewett made her way out and towards the dungeons. It was the place most of her ickles ended up if they got lost.. and some of the Slytherin professors and prefects weren't the most understanding of lost ickles.... thus Prewett would spend the majority of the night there.

((Welcome new badgerickles!! And Welcome back my old still-ickle-in-my-eyes Hufflepuffians!! ))

Guest Maeve Maguire

Hufflepuff. She wondered what sort of magical animal a hufflepuff was? As Maeve sat with her new house, she looked around the table trying to look for answers for this mystery. No odd looking creatures, but the food! Not only was it everywhere and all of her absolute favourites, but it just *poof* appeared!

She bent down to look under the table to see if there was some sort of mechanism there. Nothing but wood. Huh. Then the stories about house elves just might be true? She barely tasted the food, since everything was so new and interesting. Of course she ate - she was eleven, after all. But tasting was a different story.

A voice called the end of the feast, and she stood to join the rush of students following the Head Girl and prefects. She certainly didn’t want to be left behind, since she’d probably miss something interesting. Although, she’d really like to see those elves clean up the Hall.

She was bumped and herded along with no time to really see where she was going, except down some stairs. She saw the girl that was wandering close to the other stairs, and wondered about Slytherins. The had looked like pretty normal kids in the Hall, but if they ate people - she might have to go exploring sometime to check them out! Well, maybe she’d wait until she met one in the corridors or the classrooms. You never wanted to meet a dangerous creature in their own lair!

Faraz Memon

Faraz was very excited to be back at Hogwarts. It's a new year, and a time to meet new people and make new friends. He gave a smile to every Hufflepuff first year who looked at him. He wanted to make a good impression of himself and make the first years feel at home. He remembered how much he was scared when he first came to Hogwarts.

He was also very happy to see new Head Girl. It was Jazz Turpin, from Hufflepuff. How cool was that! That was a big achievement. And his friend, Hannah, she had been made a prefect! He knew that the girl would make it. He was very proud of her and wanted to congratulate her, but that didn't seem the right place to talk to her. She was busy guiding first years to the common room, and Faraz didn't want to disturb her. But he was very happy for her. He could tell everyone proudly that she had a prefect friend. How cool was that? No one would dare messing with him.

But when he looked at the other prefect, he made a face. The other prefect was that ugly Guinevere Poleon. As much as Faraz didn't like her, he had to admit that she was good. But what if they had made him a prefect? He knew that he wouldn't make a good prefect, he was just too soft and would never take away points or give punishments, but he and Hannah had ran a club together as leaders, so they might have done well as prefects too, but Guinevere was a good individual choice. He just hoped that she didn't come in his way, and didn’t make life difficult for the new students at least.

He returned from his thoughts when he got bumps from behind. Students had started walking toward the common room, so thinking about the present to give to Hannah for her achievement, he marched along with the other students to the common room.
