Minister Granger-Weasley

Your First Day With Minister Granger-Weasley

Recommended Posts

Minister Granger-Weasley

It was safe to say Minister Granger-Weasley was nervous. She recalled the time she stood before her peers years and years ago to convince them to join she and Harry and Ron in breaking away from Hogwarts standards and taking it upon themselves to learn how to protect themselves. She was more than aware of the emotions that propelled actions and the actions that propelled historical movements just like her own. Hermione had failed in many ways, losing grip of the anchor that held her in her strong position. But she hoped today, just for one day, she could have undivided attention and provide insight into the reality of the world around them. She stood before the students of Hogwarts, just a podium between her and the many who had been through hell and back this past year -- and even some who had not yet made it to the "back" part. There was still hope here.

“Good morning, everyone. I hope you’ve all settled into your dormitories comfortably and had a good night’s rest, and an especially delicious breakfast. I sampled the blueberry waffles earlier and they are just as I remember them. My husband will be envious; he’s missed the Hogwarts food since we left this place.

Forty years ago, following the age of rebuilding after the Second Wizarding War, our celebrated school reopened its oak front doors. Children from all across Great Britain and Ireland were welcomed back into its classrooms to continue the cherished tradition of magical learning.”

There was a long pause now in which the Minister peered at all the faces in front of her, feeling the significant weight of today’s speech. Some students looked bored. Others, highly unimpressed. Some were fixated on her, soaking in her words, either to take them to heart or tear them apart later. As it rang true in all aspects of her position, there was an uneven energy emanating from her audience. They were split in their thoughts, their opinions and feelings, their positions in society. It was as if an invisible barrier divided them all, and this barrier had only been strengthened by outside forces throughout the past year. Considering the reason for her coming here today, the 40th anniversary of recovery, the woman wouldn’t couldn’t help but think, haven’t we seen this all before?

This particular audience, Hermione felt, was one she truly wished to reach, and this wouldn’t do. The Minister of Magic took a deep breath and nodded to herself, as if coming to a silent decision.

“You know, I’m supposed to stand in front of you today as your Minister of Magic…” Her eyes traced over the crowd and landed on the Ministry escorts whose job it was to keep things flowing and on schedule for her.

“However.” She gave her staff a stiff smile as her hand moved for her wand, which was positioned in front of her on the podium. The Ministry officials began to whisper to each other and shuffle, appearing increasingly uncomfortable while Hermione broke away from their incredibly organized and well-rehearsed plan.

“I do think one day off is alright every once in a while.” Her smile broadened as she stepped around the podium and down to the students’ level. Security guards began moving towards her, either in fear of her safety or in fear of everyone else’s, but she put her wand hand up and stopped them. Harry would… what was it she’d heard her granddaughter say? Yeet his glasses if he got word of what she was doing right now. With a wave of her wand, the doors to the Great Hall shut. They would not open again until they were finished.

“Please stand up, everyone.”

Welcome to Hermione Granger-Weasley's Day Off. I look forward to RPing with all of you! For organizational purposes, I have just a few rules (rules are important and meant to be followed!).

1. Please only one post per person until I post again. Posts may be any length, but it would be preferable for you to keep them no more than 50 words.

2. Remember there are Ministry officials here, and whether you agree with the Ministry or not, that's sort of a big deal. Try not to act like a fool.

3. Headmistress McGonagall will immediately silence anyone who speaks out of turn. This will be temporary. She's not trying to silence your opinions, she just wants you to be respectful.

4. Remember, Hermione can take much more than just house points ;)

Kaleb Kennedy

Kaleb was pretty sure his gulp was audible. Hermoine Freaking Granger was standing in front of him. Although he wasn't well-versed or wow'd with her title as Minister of Magic, she would forever be the famous Hermoine Granger, ace Hogwarts student and one of the most proficient witch of all time. She was very much a big deal.

"I cannot believe I'm standing so close to Hermoine Granger," Kaleb mumbled audibly to his neighbor as the minister was just a mere few meters away from him.

“It’s all well and good having a day off,” Ollie whispered under her breath to @Julian Pritchard as they stood, “But I have like fifty questions I want answering and if I have to listen to everyone being in awe at her being here instead I will not be happy.”

Professor Santiago

"No..." Mateo breathed.

The sound of the door slamming shut and locking meant that he was officially trapped in this room with the Ministry of Magic. His heart was beating loudly in his chest as he realized the gravity of the situation.

"No no no no no no," Mateo found himself repeating over and over as quickly rushed towards the door and pulled that them several times to no avail. "Umm, excuse me, you don't mind opening this door really quickly, do you? I just need to go check something...uhh...I think I left my cauldron on," Mateo pleaded with a nearby security guard.

Josie Potter

Some people were in awe.

Some people ready to ask questions

Some maybe even feeling trapped.

Then there was Josie who, as @Minister Granger-Weasley came from behind the podium, waved and shouted "GO AUNT HERMIONE!"

Adam Sinclair

Adam was a little scared for reasons that had nothing to do with being in a sea of people so much as they'd all just been shut in with a wave of her wand, and people moving as one to stand up was a little too cult-like for his taste. Especially with the added bonus of trigger happy Aurors lining the room.

This was not a good look.

"She's going to murder us!" Adam declared to @Nathaniel Frost, not bothering to keep his voice down.

Prince A. Charming

Could he not eat a single meal in peace? He knew that this woman was @Harmony Granger-Weasley's grandmother but he just wanted to eat his breakfast without a scene breaking out.

Willa Henry

Even Willa had heard about Hermione Granger, now Minister Granger, and had a healthy amount of awe and respect for the woman. From her spot at the Slytherin table, half of a pastry shoved in her mouth and giving her a bit of chipmonk cheek, Willa beamed in excitement. Not only was the coolest definition of an incredibly respected and successful woman walking around among them, there was no speech to be had.

"This is brilliant!" Willa muttered under her breath, turning on the bench so she could keep the minister in her eyesight. They'd said there would be surprises for the 40th anniversary, and this was a solid start.

Anderson Potter

Sonny knew that his great-aunt would be there but, somehow, he had not understood how everyone would be so in awe of her. He forgot that she was the Minister of Magic quite often because she was just... his aunt. He smiled at @Minister Granger-Weasley and gave a small wave of encouragement (not that she needed it) and then wondered if she would need a hug. He was always ready to give out hugs. He also shook his head when he heard @Aggie Price. She really needed to get over his family.

Jacquetta Rosewood

Jacquetta was busy eating scones at the Hufflepuff table and not giving a fuss. Her family got similar reactions for simply existing and it got exhausting so she was not going to join in and make the Minister uncomfortable.

Miss Turner

Paige was ready in case anything went amiss. She really didn't want to punish any students but if the last year had taught her anything, students would always cause some sort of situation. She had her wand in her cardigan and she had purposely left things to do in the library so she could hand out detentions. House Points weren't off the able, either.

Minister Granger-Weasley

She smiled at @Josie Potter and @Anderson Potter but shook her head at the same time. While she adored the family that was scattered among the Hogwarts students, Hermione wanted everyone to feel equal, just this once.

While curiously observing the professor who seemed to be wanting to make a quick exit, someone mentioned her intentions to murder them.

"I not murdering anyone," she assured @Adam Sinclair all with a scoff. "Come on, get up! All of you. Slytherins as well." She eyed the ones who looked particularly stubborn. Some still weren't budging. "Alright, but I'm warning you, I'm moving these tables in three, two..."

That was enough notice, wasn't it? Her wand raised and the tables rose into the air high above the students, moving and stacking themselves neatly at the back of the Great Hall.

"We're going to need a lot of room. Form a circle, everyone! Professors, staff, you too, please!"

Avery Potter

She almost banged her head on the table in front of her at @Josie Potter's reaction to their Aunt @Minister Granger-Weasley. Did her cousin not know how to play it cool? Clearly, she was there for a reason. Avery couldn't remember the last time she had actually been there. Of course, the family would be under scrutiny at what in the name of merlin was going on.

A circle?

Was this some sort of crazy trust exercise?

Professor Mendelssohn

“Mateo,” Maureen muttered as her co-professor proceeded to lose his cool at the presence of (she could only assume) the law. “Not to make whatever this is worse, but maybe calming down a little would make you look less suspicious?” She beckoned for @Professor Santiago to abandon his plight to escape and stand beside her.

Prince A. Charming

He was not paying the Minister of Magic much attention so he nearly got hit in the head with one of the tables as it moved. The food was gone and he sighed. Could he leave and go to the kitchens instead? All he wanted was to eat and move on with his day.

Kaleb Kennedy

Kaleb blinked several times, confused by what THE Hermoine Granger was planning on doing. But the Gryffindor knew better than to disobey her. Still, what if he could get her to notice him, even if for a fleeting second? That's when Kaleb decided to walk across the circle to the other side all so that he walk in her eyesight.

"Just going to a spot in the circle. Great job, Minister," Kaleb smiled as he suddenly found himself standing next to @Damaris Denton. "Can you believe it? I'm pretty sure I just made eye contact with Hermoine Granger."

Willa Henry

Willa was confused why they were being told to get up, but she made a point of grabbing another pastry before she obeyed. Once the tables flew away, Willa beamed in excitement and started to wander her way into the circle that the Minister had asked them to. She ended up standing next to @Prince A. Charming and offered him a grin.

"Long time no see! Any idea what all of this is about?"

Ralph Digby Hamilton

Mostly, Ralph’s mouth taped open as this woman who claimed to be in charge of magic or whatever told them to stand up and then form a circle. But he also couldn’t help but notice the distinct similarities between @Harmony Granger-Weasley and @Minister Granger-Weasley.

”Harmony!” He yelled out randomly into the semi-quiet. “Is that your awesome grandma I’ve heard about?! She like, defeated the worst bad dude on earth or whatever, right?” Way to pay attention in History of Magic, Ralph.

”Wicked.”

Manny Kwon

Whoa, daaaang. Had there been something in @Minister Granger-Weasley's waffles or something? Manny didn't even remember being told she was going to be here and now here she was moving tables in the Great Hall and stuff.

"Can the Minister do this?" Manny asked the nearest person as he backed up to help make the circle, looking at all the other Ministry people to see if they were going to take her down or something.

Professor Foster

In the past Foster's emotions had spanned the entire spectrum of mad admiration for a muggleborn icon to deep contempt for the institution the icon now served. In the past year those feelings had solidified into pragmatic caution with a fair dose of cynical mistrust, which was not so different than she felt about the rest of the world.

Today she saw her role in this meeting both as a barrier between some of her more passionate students' reckless impulses and the heavy hand of the militaristic state. In other words it was her job to mitigate between students shooting off their mouths and aurors shooting off their wands.

So far she had stood back so that she could take in the entire hall (the Minister's personnel included) but she was as surprised as they were when the Minister abandoned expectations and strode into the hall, then shocked at the Minister's interior reorganization. The last statement though was the nail in the coffin.

"A friggin' circle?" she muttered. Surely to Merlin she doesn't expect us to hold hands and sing Kum ba yah.

Foster hung back. She'd join the circle when the aurors joined the circle.

Seeley Pichardo

Seeley arched an eyebrow at Aggie’s words... she’d dated Desmond for two years and... oh who was she kidding she could definitely feel energy in the room and not all of it was good.

Seeley herself wasn’t exactly sure how to feel about the visit.  On one hand it was Desmond’s family - in some way - and while they may have been apart now she knew somewhere this woman mattered to him.  Still she couldn’t stand behind all the choices that had been made that night.

In the end, the blonde held to what was expected of her by the headmistress and by her father who was standing by the side of the room with his wand in hand, and ultimately by the badge that was a weight on her chest.  Plenty of people were about to speak their opinions and she wasn’t going to be one of them.  It hadn’t done any good last night, why would it now?

She expected the woman to start mingling with students and trying to make friends, she didn’t expect what came next and her face reflected that fact, absolutely...large_ffs.png.42b05fbe0780d003de4f6b7bda304987.png

Oliver Strausser

As if the previous night hadn't been enough, tensions were high again at breakfast. Oliver slowly chewed on a piece of toast as he rose to his feet, eyeing some of the students around. Some were obviously not thrilled to have the Minister with them.

"This can't be that bad, right?" he muttered to the nearest student from one of the other house tables. "My mum told me Minister Granger-Weasley was one of the most brilliant witches that ever lived."

Before he had a chance to process what was happening, the tables lifted up and soared to the back of the room, startling Oliver and causing him to drop the only thing he had managed to start eating that morning. Butter side down, of course.

"Oh. My toast."

Professor Santiago

"I just need to go check on that cauldron, just very quickly. Wouldn't it be worst if it exploded? What? No, I'm not saying I left a cauldron on so that it could explode while the Minister of Magic is here. Are you crazy?" Mateo found his voice beginning to rise slightly above a whisper as the security guard denied him his freedom.

Maureen joining in was not helping. "Maureen, now is not the time for that," he hissed at @Professor Mendelssohn. He turned back towards the door as everyone else formed a circle and tugged on it a few more times. He turned his attention back to the security guard. "Come on, man. Be a paaaaaal," he continued to plead.
