Headmistress McGonagall

Dinner

Recommended Posts

Fenella Campbell

It was happening again. Time was rushing past but it was simultaneously standing still. Fenella stopped filling her containers and looked around her. There was warning this time as the Headmistress made an announcement but the uproar it caused .... Fenella wanted to scream at everyone in the Great Hall to shut up! Just shut your traps and follow the instructions! At home this would be like a fire evacuation drill and everyone would know what to do. The Aurors represented the entry of the fire brigade, a larger authority and experts in their field, so why wasn’t everyone just doing what they were told?

But the memories of November were too fresh, and she could empathise with those that were angry, and she felt heartbroken for her wolf class mates but she also wanted to stay safe herself. There was so much commotion though, she resorted to an already tried and tested tactic. She placed lids on all her containers, shoved them in her bag and then dropped down from her seat and hid under the table. Hiding had saved her November 8th and hopefully it would save her again from the current fighting and arguing and whatever else was to come.

Professor Fjord

Moments ago, Kirsi was just worried about students who were causing a ruckus with constant beeping noises. It was crazy how things changed in an instant. @Headmistress McGonagall announced that they were to be staying in the Great Hall, and then an Auror came in, and everything that Kirsi had planned for the evening went up in smoke.

"Gryffindor students remaining, headcount time! Please sit down at the Gryffindor table if you're not already so I can make sure exactly who's here and who still needs to be accounted for."

She wasn’t saying anything at the moment but she was in complete agreement with @Behati Gadot and of course her boyfriend, @Ryan Buratsche

Dale McQueen-Trengrove

He should have ignored Julian entirely. It would be the better choice instead of having him say anything yet again. But their friendship was over and he just couldn’t help himself. He knew the danger was outside and it was not Julian, but nonetheless he spoke.

“They’re trying to help you,” he hissed. “Or by all means, yes, stay and attack all of us.”

Nox Bordelon

Why did he still go to school here, anyway?

Oh, right.  He was required to.  Or something.

Nox's eyes flicked up to Professor McGonagall when she stood and, shortly afterward, there were Aurors.  The Hufflepuff had other things on his mind, however.  Namely, the fact that his girlfriend had practically vaulted like a wannabe Olympian from her seat at the table to reach her brother, who seemed super intent on not going anywhere with the po po.

"Aurors," he drawled, pushing himself to his feet and tugging his wand out of his pocket.  Honestly, at this point, the school getting attacked was like having tea with breakfast.  It was just the way the world worked.  "That's a great idea.  Hogwarts—triggering trauma in children since 990 AD."

He made his way to where Maggie was and clicked his tongue.  "Leave it.  Change was never achieved by sitting quietly.  It takes rebellion.  On that note, doll, I hope you've been dueling, because I sure as hell haven't had the time and I trust the staff here with wards and general safety about as much as I'd trust, oh, I don't know, penguins to drive a bus?"

Edward Borage

They were stuck here? Edward cursed himself as he realised, too late, that he ought to have gone back to his Common Room after his little trip to the loo. The only reason he hadn’t was that they’d be in there all night and he had been looking forward to just a bit more time of freedom. He got the need for a curfew but now there was a lockdown? Bright side was he didn’t have to scrounge some fruit for later. With the whole school...nearly the whole school in the Great Hall, they’d be keeping them all stocked up with food. Downside was it really was going to be a long night.

Shiloh Paige

Shiloh watched the ebb and flow of the great Hall. Her eyes found @Julian Pritchard and gave him what small smile that she could.

But ultimately her eyes were glued to @Behati Gadot and @Ryan Buratsche. One of them was probably going to get gifted a knuckle sandwich if she had anything to say about it. But her ire wasn't as up as it could be, and she had a girlfriend and a firecrab to look out for.

No need to berserk or anything.

Orpheus Midnight

Orpheus started to bite his lip when more instructions were given out. An Auror had arrived to take the bitten students to the Wing and Orpheus immediately turned to try and find @Pandora Midnight in the mess that was currently the Great Hall. Ordinarily, it wouldn't have been too hard but since the Auror's arrival, things had started to spiral quickly.

Understandably the bitten students didn't trust the Auror as far as they could toss him and Orpheus didn't blame them for that. However, several others did making a fuss about how they wanted to attack the other students. Orpheus rolled his eyes at their stupidity. He was currently too far away to be heard but he had plenty to say about how idiotic those two here being ( @Ryan Buratsche & @Behati Gadot). Honestly, they were only helping to incite a panic.

Orpheus began pushing his way past many people in an attempt to get to his cousin, wanting to tell her it would be okay. Wanting to reassure her. Wanting to tell her that she could trust their professor if no one else. But he didn't quite make it to the group of bitten individuals before they were being led out of the Great Hall. It left the fifth year staring after them worrying about his cousin's safety as he was left trapped in the Great Hall to wonder what was supposed to come next.

Veronica Dursley

Veronica scoffed when she saw that the werewolves were being led out to the hospital wing as if that were supposed to ensure anyone's safety. In her mind, the only way to ensure everyone's safety from the monsters that had been amongst them for several weeks and months since the attack happened would be to escort them all of the Hogwarts premises and far away from Scotland and perhaps just put them all by themselves in the Arctic.

"Am I supposed to feel safe just because the monsters have been lead away to the hospital wing? Am I supposed to believe that they won't escape and terrorize us poor normal witches and wizards because of Hogwarts's spotty track record of keeping bad stuff from happening? I, personally, would feel safer if we were to take them and place them far away isolated so that they couldn't be a threat to any of us. How about the Arctic?"

Robin Corelli-Rose

Kay was gone, and his sort-of sister @Pandora Midnight, too. This could have been like any other full moon, with dinner served early so that the bitten students could enjoy the meal with their friends, before they all had to leave for the night. It had become sort of routine; the sooner everyone got used to the fact that this was the norm, now, the better.

But this night was different; the last glimpse of his friends being marched out and the booming of the doors to the Great Hall seemed particularly ominous. Robin sat very still. @Francis Barnes II was a cheerful energy beside him and Robin borrowed some of it to calm his spiking nerves. He curled and uncurled his fists, wondering what to do. The last time he hadn’t remained still, he’d more or less walked into the swiping claws of a werewolf. He turned in his seat and scanned the Hufflepuff table for @Lindy Rose. Was she thinking about the same things he was? He turned back to Francis.

“The good news,” he murmured, “is that they can’t blame this school’s twelve werewolves if another pack attacks.” Even as he said it, though, a petty little voice in his head hissed, Oh, they’ll find a reason to.

Robin shoved it off the nearest mental cliff he could find.

Touching his cousins shoulder, Robin tossed his head in the direction of his sister. “I’m going to Lindy. Wanna come?” He wanted to sit with his sister... but he also didn’t want to leave Francis alone.

Then again, his cousin had the uncanny ability to evade life-threatening danger...

Idina Iordanau

Idina had barely gotten one of the wolves tied up - the wrong wolf, admittedly, but whatever - when a tiny sack of nothingness in Gryffindor robes ( @Aster Darling) attempted to... "Oi! Wasp, I'll teach you how to sting."

...

"Ferire."

Dueling spells, schooling spells, mule-ing spells... What was even the point in differentiating? This was Hogwarts, where they all might die at any second. If it wasn't Idina's annoyance, it'd be a werewolf or a bloody Auror.

Miss Turner

No one had taken the plushie from her and Paige was crushed. She knew that there was an emergency going on but it was hard when no one answered her. It was like she wasn't even there. Like she wasn't needed. Like she was useless. It was upsetting and she wasn't sure how to handle it. Obviously, dealing with the crisis was more important but she was trying to help the situation and it was still falling short. Why was she even there?

The noise in the room got louder and she saw one of the werewolf children (@Prince A. Charming) enveloped in ropes. As if in slow motion, she saw two girls (@Aster Darling and @Willa Henry) either charge at or yell at @Idina Iordanau. Then, Idina cast a spell at the Gryffindor girl. "Obsidio!" she said, making sure that the younger girl was not hit with the spell. "Miss Iordanau, ENOUGH. You will be getting detention with me for a week and I will take 50 points." She would also report the incident to @Professor Wollice and @Headmistress McGonagall. "Now put your wand away before I take it." She wasn't useless now, was she?

Points taken are IC only.

Aster Darling

Aster was upset over the fact that @Idina Iordanau attacked @Prince A. Charming. He didn't deserve it, and it made her mad, let's face it. She reacts before thinking all the time. It got her in trouble, and she almost got in huge trouble.

Aster's eyes widened, but thankfully @Miss Turner stepped in before the spell hit her. She glared at the older girl, but was smart enough not to draw attention to herself. Serves her right.

Mira Skydel

Right now, patience would be Mira's best ally. Although she felt the burning desire for one of her now characteristic outbursts, she kept her feelings buried deep inside as she studied the room around her. Usually she would have been one of the firsts to call out, there was something about her that always enjoyed a good shouting match. Trust in someone was a difficult thing for Mira to give out, and now someone she trusted, her Captain @Julian Pritchard was going to be taken away by someone she barely knew. A new Professor whom she had never seen before. This new Professor had already drawn her wand, Mira began thinking of all the ways a loose spell could cause chaos in a situation like this. As the thoughts continued to swim around in her mind, she found her wand making it's way to her grip. She looked over to @Katherine Braelin-VonHaus who was frantic to say the least. Clearly one of the people being taken away was a close friend of hers. Mira had hated the wolves that attacked her classmates during their night time flying lesson. She'd even risked her life simply to make one of the attack wolves suffer. For weeks after the attack all she could feel was anger towards these creatures. She wanted nothing more than to find the wolves and make them pay for what they had done. That was until she had learned of her Captain Julian being bitten by one of the creatures. That's when the anger that had been blinding her finally lifted. The wolves who attacked her and her friends were not the students in the room right now, they were victims even more than the other students who had been attacked. Mira's morale compass wasn't exactly always pointed North, but she knew the difference between a monster and her Captain. "Kate!" Mira called out as she gestured the other girl over. Mira was still keeping a very close eye on @Professor Foster and her Captain. She had a very bad feeling about all this, but wouldn't do anything reckless. Well at least not without the OK from her Captain.

Rosie Ferranti

Rosie sat anxiously at the Hufflepuff table, trying not to get involved in anything but also desperately hoping that @Julian Pritchard was going to be okay. She'd looked around for him when the werewolves had been called for so that she could wave and wish him good luck with her biggest thumbs up but there were too many people around.

She looked around too for @Julian Banagher, @Harmony Granger-Weasley and @Jaxon Sinclair, werewolves she had managed so far to hug on her mission to make every one of them feel like they were loved. She still had quite a few more to go on her list ( @Jacqueline Frost, @Pandora Blackwood, @Pine Tree, @Kay Wickham, @Jeramie Slater) but there was plenty of time! ...just maybe not tonight >.>

Rayya Borage-Brown

Having rounded up a few students outside Rayy finally got herself back inside and made her way to the Great Hall as per orders given that the majority of students would be there for dinner. To say that she was reluctant was an understatement. She knew what went down there only a few short months ago and she knew that this whole situation was going to be bringing up all the emotions again and that they would still be raw. The lawn had done that to her since that was where she had mostly been focused on last time. But any relief she felt about being inside was swept aside as she stood quietly in the doorway of the Great Hall.

The scene before her was remarkably calm in as much as there didn’t seem to be any panic. From her perspective that was always a bonus that they rarely got. Sure there was some heated exchanges but nothing she could really make out as the voices all mingled into a blur of noise. Rayy finally stride into the room proper, holding her wand pointing to the floor, her face a mask covering any emotion. She scanned the room quickly and headed for the nearest adult.

Ryan Dorland-Nece

“They want to stay here and attack all of us,” Ryan growled. And now, there was another auror in the Great Hall.

“Restrain them! Drag them out of here! Do something before they transform!”

Adrina Althaus-Valerio

@Maggie Sinclair's look sent Addy spinning in the other direction, right as Jack Frost passed by her and mumbled something to Jaxon behind her.  She didn't want to watch them walk towards the aurors, towards the door.  These walks always left her with such worry as it was and the abrupt turn this one took had her feeling especially sick.

There was an anxious knot tied tight in her stomach at the fact that no one had really told any of them what was going on and that knot thickened when her eyes drifted to the place she'd seen her brother just a few minutes before with her roommate and now @Ryszard Althaus-Valerio wasn't there.  Addy pushed her way between a few younger students and around the table wondering where he could have gone and searching around for his face.

She did not expect to see him laying flat on the floor and blinking up at the ceiling.   "Ry?" Granted it wasn't the first time he'd been knocked over by something (or someone) but still there was something off here.  Addy knelt down next to him and glanced up at an older slytherin who'd almost tripped over her in the process before gently shaking his shoulder.

"Are you... what happened?" If there was danger coming, she wasn't about to let him go out like this.

Jerome Chan

It was safe to say that Jerome was very lost. Not physically, since he knew exactly where he was (the Hufflepuff table in the Great Hall) but more...emotionally. Everything was happening so fast, and he just wanted things to slow down. He wanted everyone to sit and talk calmly, and he wanted peace. He wanted all of this fighting to go away. But...he was slowly learning that he couldn't always get what he wanted. He thought it would be a good idea to just follow all the adults, since he thought they'd know what to do. He was just a child, and so were the other students. The adults - professors and aurors both - knew better, right? He just wished the other students thought so too, since they were putting up a fight. But it was wrong to fight against adults. It was so disrespectful. He didn't like it. He didn't like any of it. He wanted to close his eyes and go back home. Maybe he should have listened to his mother and stayed home instead. He didn't have to go to this school, after all. He could stay with his relatives and go to the Chinese school. Then he wouldn't have to sit there and watch all the chaos and the fighting.

He noticed another girl duck under the table and he thought that was a good idea, too. So he grabbed a few pastries, put them on a napkin and slid down his seat. "Hi," he said to @Fenella Campbell. He recognised her...the plant girl! They decorated their pots together. It seemed so long ago that it happened... He held out a pastry to her. "Do you want one?" He tried to smile, hoping that maybe under the Hufflepuff table, he could ignore the outside world and hold tight to the peace in his heart.

Jack Dare

Jack's nerves were already frayed even before the crisis was announced, so he had broken down long before @Julian Pritchard and the other werewolves were marched out of the Great Hall. Some of the behavior on both sides was appalling, but Jack would write later that Julian Pritchard was as stoic and as noble as any British officer captured by the enemy. He even bid a calm farewell to his lady love taking pains not to frighten her with the possibility that he might not return. She held up rather well, but Jack was a total mess. Tears streamed down Jack's cheeks and in the absence of Julian to comfort him, he fell on @Simon Reed , throwing his arms around him and sobbing into Simon's shirt.

Hazel Wheeler

Hazel pouted up at Simon from where she could just faintly hear his heartbeat with her ear pressed to his chest. It reminded her that they were all alive and more importantly they were all together. She puffed out a breath, attempting to shoo some of her hair out of her face and she just wished she could leave with Julian through the double doors. But he was safe. And out of everything that could go wrong that night - Hazel wouldn't have to be worried about that.

There was a flash of curly brown hair and for a moment Hazel had to stop her heart from leaping out of her throat. But he was much too short to be Julian (even though there was so much about @Jack Dare that reminded her of Ju almost instantly). She gasped as she felt him stumbled into Simon somewhere near her, and Hazel took the chance to relieve Simon of so many bodies to hold onto. Hazel turned, her hand gently reaching out to stroke the arm of the younger boy. That's when it clicked. This had to be one of Julian's mentees. When he had first told her about being a mentor she had found it so attractive that she had promptly rocked up onto her tippytoes to kiss his cheek. Who else would be so affected by what was going on to immediately come sobbing to Simon? Okay, yeah, she did but that's all the more reason to think this boy cared about Ju.

"Hey," Hazel said, the automatic soft, comforting mum voice coming out easily, "It's going to be okay. He's safe. A-and you can stay with us. We'll make sure you're safe too. I'm Hazel, that's Aurora, and I'm assuming you're Ju and Si's mentee so you must know Simon."

Ryszard Althaus-Valerio

@Jacqueline Frost was gone.

That was the only thing Ryszard could think of. He knew she was still in the Great Hall, being escorted out by supposedly trustworthy adults, but he didn’t think that mattered. It had all seemed so sudden, with the arrival of the Aurors and an imminent attack, and despite having regained consciousness, he was still struggling to keep the panic from completely overwhelming him.

It clawed at him, over and over again, and he would have thrown up in that instant, if it wasn’t for the hand on his shoulder.

Adrina’s face peered at him, a worried expression etched across her face, and it only made Ryszard feel worse. Here was his sister — the one he had been consistently hostile towards for the past few months; the one he had been avoiding out of fear and guilt and the persistent feeling that he was wrong, wrong, wrong. Yet, at the end of it all, she had sought him out. If something happened to either of them, she didn’t want him to be alone during it — she didn’t want him to die without anyone by his side — and Ryszard didn’t know how to deal with that.

He swallowed hard, pushing himself up with one hand, even as he felt faint. “Addy,” he breathed out. “Jack’s gone.” He didn’t think to clarify which Jack, but those were the only two words echoing through his mind, and he needed to get them out before they plastered themselves to his skull and refused to leave.

Aggie Price

Aggie was somewhat quiet tonight as she ate dinner waiting to see if  @Anderson Potter and his sister, @Avery Potter would join her.  They had gotten into a pattern of sharing dinner together and then Aggie would let the siblings have time together before Avery had to head to the hospital wing.  However, the change of scheduling had left the plans a bit awry and Aggie was wondering if the pair would just head on to the wing.

She could hear beeping coming from various locations and frowned.  Maybe those stupid pins were necessary in the world but didn't they already know there was werewolves at the school thanks to that jerk on the radio?  She sighed knowing that those who bought the pins had done so solely to aggravate and harass the victims.

When all hell broke lose and the aurors showed up, all color drained from Aggie's face.  Flashbacks to that November night came back to her as the auror announced the possibility of an attack again.  As the eleven werewolves were led out by Professor Foster and the auror, Aggie hurriedly made her way to @Miss Turner.  Tugging on the librarian's sleeve, she whispered just loud enough for the woman to hear her.  "Miss Turner,  Avery and Sonny aren't here.  They don't know....  I've got to help them," Aggie rushed out in a panick stricken voice.

Adrina Althaus-Valerio

For a brief moment, her brother's eyes met her own and something flickered there that looked an awful lot like fear.

Understandable given the circumstances although she couldn't place exactly what it was in fear of; the last thing she would have thought would it to have been fear of her for simply being there nearby.  She felt fear too at the unknown in the air surrounding them and at the unknown fate of their friends that had disappeared out of the hall doors to whatever awaited them this evening.

Her thoughts might have driven farther down that path of what could go wrong for them or even for her and Ryszard and everyone else still being sequestered in the hall if not for Ry speaking her name and sitting up then, lifting her hand with the rise of his own body.  The words that followed stung in her own heart but she knew he couldn't have meant them in the same way she felt them... or at least not for the same Jack.  A struggle of a breath got stuck in her throat and Adrina nodded, pulling her hand back and running it through her hair.

"I know." She swallowed down the knot in her throat.  "She'll be..."  Addy blinked and looked back at the big, wide and now slammed shut wooden door that held them in,  "He'll be..." she mumbled to herself then and then spoke a bit stronger when she turned back to her brother and put her hand on his arm again.   "We're all going to be okay."

'Right?'

Miss Turner

After she had dealt with @Idina Iordanau, she continued to try and comfort the students. Some of them looked terrified and it saddened her. She was scared, of course, because she didn't know what was going on but she had been through these types of situations before. She also knew more magic and was less likely to panic.

"Does anyone need anything? I can conjure books, plushies, blankets..." She trailed off when she felt a tug on her sleeve and found @Aggie Price looking up at her. "Really? Are you sure that Avery didn't go with the aurors?" She knew that the girl wouldn't make something up so she said, "I will let them know. You hang tight, okay?"

She then rushed over to @Rayya Borage-Brown and said, "Hello. I'm Miss Turner, librarian. I've just been informed that one of the werewolf students, @Avery Potter, and her brother, @Anderson Potter, were not at dinner. That means that Avery did not leave with the other aurors to go to the Hospital Wing." While she spoke, she jotted down the information on a notepad that she kept in her pocket along with a pen. She then tore the note off the pad and grabbed her wand. With a flick, the paper became an origami cat and she watched it slide under the doors of the Great Hall, heading for @Professor Foster.
