Headmistress McGonagall

Dinner

Recommended Posts

Pali Dotchev

Pali hadn’t liked the fact that dinner had moved to an earlier time. It meant they had to be back in their common rooms earlier and she didn’t like being cooped up. Even if it were for their safety; frankly it sucked. There was never anything interesting enough to hold her attention, not even Pascha. Or sometimes she began to feel a little bit....flat and off. The later usually ended in her just going to bed and wishing the time would go quicker. Going to sleep just to escape the day and hope the next one was better.

As as she sat at the Ravenclaw table with @Alexander Crow the restlessness in her was growing. Her eyes darted around the Great Hall, looking at different students. Sometimes holding her gaze longer than others.

As it settled on @Jaxon Sinclair all she could do was pout. It was still eating away at her. Well two things were; the main one being the whole canine lupus thing. The other being the jealousy as her eyes hovered first to @Adrina Althaus-Valerio And then to the other people Jack sat with. She didn’t really know them. Just that they were older than Pali and probably his cool new friends or something.

Irritated, she forced her stare elsewhere. Never lingering too long again. For a moment settling on @Avery Potter. She was a werewolf. She was nice. A bigger girl but one of Pali’s friends. The two had bonded over her favourite pink cupcakes and duelling. Avery had been the one who helped dispel the myth of the scary werewolves. Avery seemed scared of it all herself, and with that Pali just wanted to help make it all better.

Again in her eyes shifted. This time flittering over @Prince A. Charming. She knew him, a little. He was in her year. They shared classes. Not really her very close, but in Pali’s eyes he wasn’t an enemy so he was a friend. As she stated she took in his scarred demeanour. That made her shift in her seat, the unease growing again.

Though she didn’t dwell on it much. She didn’t really have time. Alex day at her side holding up some chocolate cake on a fork, a weak but trying smile in place asking her to open up. All she could do was hesitantly try to refocus her thoughts to other things and give a weak “Yay thank you” before letting her mouth fall open graciously

Seeley Pichardo

Being in the great hall at all, wasn't something Seeley really wanted to do anymore, but considering it was a long time until morning and being stuck in the hufflepuff common room all night long wasn't exactly an exciting proposition either, so she suffered through it.

Juan Garcia

There. A familiar face. Dropping the tub, he nearly trampled over @Seeley Pichardo and grabbed her by the shoulders, eyes wide, "I need you to keep this on the down low. Quiet. Okay?"

He looked around to see if anyone was listening and had to steady his breathing again, "I was in the common room and I heard on the radio that... aurors were dispatched. That Hogwarts was gonna be under another attack. SHHHHH! Don't be loud about it. The last thing we need is panic."

River Wolfe

River sat there eating what was left of the food on his plate.  Giving quick glares to all the other wolves at the school, once the assembly was over and left, it was then he realized he made a fool of himself.  How could he be that person?  Clearly, that's who he had become.

Professor Foster

Peggy checked her watch, still plenty of time. However, she wasn't one to relax at any time. She began scanning the hall, making sure all the  wolves were there.

Headmistress McGonagall

Minerva frowned. She could hear that incessant beeping across the Great Hall. It was too scattered for her to immediately tell where it was coming from, but that didn't mean that the pins were any less banned at Hogwarts. She cleared her throat and was about to make an announcement to that effect when she saw the message on her mirror.

Attack. Hogwarts. I've dispatched aurors.

Minerva didn't swear ever. But the one thought that went through her mind then was Oh hell.

"It's a message from Harry," she said to @Professor Foster, showing it to the Defence Professor. Peggy had proved herself a valuable ally, and she had a feeling that she was going to need one right now.

"Attention students!" Was there a way that she could phrase her message so as to not cause alarm? "We will be staying in the Great Hall for the time being. Please stay seated until you receive further instructions."

"Can you watch the windows?" she asked Peggy. "Checking the wards on them would be even better." Minerva vividly recalled the way that werewolves had crashed through the windows back in November. That wouldn't be happening again, not on her watch.

-------

Attention students! Aurors will be arriving shortly. If you are not currently in the Great Hall, use the tag aurors needed to make sure that they can find you.

Juan Garcia

He turned to @Seeley Pichardo as soon as the words left their headmistress' lips, "What did I just say? Sometimes it pays to listen to me because sometimes I'm right."

He gripped his wand and followed after @Professor Foster, clearing his throat a little as he walked closer, "I can um... I can help. In whatever is needed." He refused to be on the sidelines again.

Seeley Pichardo

👀

A secret? At first Seeley leaned in closer, like maybe Juan was about to actually give her something worthwhile of her time.  But she should have known by the expression on his face.

Her second thought was of course 'Not flacking again' because why... why did the school have to be infiltrated a third time during her years here and why couldn't she at least be somewhere other then the Great Hall this time?  But, then she realized that Juan was actually right.  (I know, she was surprised too).  Panic would be bad.

Her hand slid down into her robes where her wand was hidden and retrieved it just in time to hear McG speak up above the crowd.   Well.. that went that plan.   And away and after @Juan Garcia she went... not to be outdone.   @Professor Foster already knew exactly what she could handle.

Salomé Schiferli

Salomé was about to get up and leave the Great Hall when Professor McGonagall spoke. Taking a seat she pressed her lips together in mild annoyance. "What's going on?" She questioned. To whom she wasn't sure, but she said it loud enough so it could be heard throughout the hall. She didn't like the feeling she had, and suddenly had flashes of that night in this very hall.

Professor Foster

"Stay?" Peggy repeated, incredulously. "Why aren't we going to lockdown?"

The wolves should not be here if aurors were in the building.

She bit down the thought though as this was a direct order, and turned to do as she was told. The wards are frikkin fine, she thought though. I've been over them a million times. Why aren't we following the plan?

Jaxon Sinclair

Addy always had a cheerful disposition, regardless of the circumstances, and that evening was no different.  She made no mention of the inevitable walk up to the Wing that would follow dinner.  She didn't ask him how he was feeling when she knew the answer would be something like, 'as if I got hit by a Mack truck, thrown twenty feet, and hit again.'

No, she simply sat down with him, discussing practice like the last game hadn't been a crushing loss for her.  She'd not complained much.  Perhaps it had been because of the banners.  Fear had pushed the loss to the back of her mind or something.  Jack had asked, but truthfully with so many horrible things going on, bringing up one more seemed unnecessarily cruel.

"Any practice is good practice, I guess," he agreed, biting down on an unnamed piece of meat that was cooked so little it was probably still capable of mooing or whatever.  It turned the inside of his mouth red and flavored it with iron, bright and metallic.  Addy talked about Quidditch.  Jack talked about the tournament.

It was normal, despite the fact that he'd been mauled and turned into a monster some six feet from where they were sitting.

Or, at least, it was normal until it wasn't.  It was normal until McGonagall stood up and said those words and Jack felt his limbs freeze, terror creeping his spine.

"We can't stay here," he whispered.  "There are twelve werewolves in this room right now and we'll shift in less than two hours.  None of you are safe here.  What is she bloody thinking?!"

Jeramie Slater

Jeramie looked up at the sound of Jack Sinclair's words, and this time he agreed with the older boy...110%. He clutched his fork tightly and looked up at the sky, trying to take stock of the sun's position...of how close it was to going down.

They didn't have all that much time to spare.

The boy's heart beat quicker as he looked up at Headmistress McGonaggal. How long was 'the time being'?? This wasn't how the routine was supposed to go. A bad feeling settled deep in his stomach, though whether it was her face or her voice he didn't know. Something didn't feel right. He stared at the front of the room.

Professor Foster

"With all due respect, ma'am," Peggy said, dividing her attention between the damn windows and her boss. "I should be taking the wolves out of here. If there's an attack we can't be cut off from our route to the wing. I should go now."

She scanned the hall for any of the dueling officiators who could cover her. Had none of them gotten here yet?

"I know we still have time until dusk, but we can't get stuck here. Please, Minerva. Let me take them. Let one of the other professors watch the windows."

Adrina Althaus-Valerio

Normal was, ultimately what she strived to give him because she knew without him telling her that he did want it.  And so of course she didn’t ask how he felt (miserable).

She could read that on his face.  He didn’t need to be reminded of it.  He needed to feel like being fourteen and dueling and Quidditch matches were still important things too.  So yes, she would keep digging up ways to distract him from the faint beeping that echoed around them and the ticking time on his watch.

She would have anyway, until the odd tone in the headmistress’ voice struck panic into her chest and her hand gripped his fingers like a vice.  The way the professors rose from the head table was offputting and clearly Jack noticed too.  She’d always believed he’d never hurt her, no matter what the circumstances but his own convictions weren’t so clear.

“Twelve?” That number was so much higher then she’d realized.  “We... what can we do?” She turned towards him, she felt sick, and sad, and helpless.

“She didn’t even say why.”

Orpheus Midnight

Orpheus had been happily enjoying his bread pudding when the Headmistress suddenly popped up stating they would be staying in the great hall. Wait...what? Why were they staying in the great hall for the time being? His head came around to start searching around the room looking for certain faces. @Pandora Midnight was one of them for a couple of reasons. One it was a full moon tonight. Two he wanted her safe.

It didn't take him long to notice the other faces of the other wolves in the great hall and his eyes turned to the windows where dusk was quickly approaching. "Has she lost her mind?" The words from the assembly not that long ago began to ring very clear in his mind. His appetite was gone as he could feel knots beginning to form in his stomach. What if it was the Headmistress herself that they couldn't trust?

"None of us can stay here...This isn't a safe place..." His voice began to rise some as he shoved his desert away from him now a little more desperate to not see a repeat of last fall.

Ralph Digby Hamilton

Ralph had been there the whole time, right next to @Salomé Schiferli and gorging on as much food as he could manage. He hadn't actually gained weight, but his height... that growth was exceeding most 12-year-old boys.

As a result, he was constantly hungry.

At least until McGonagall's announcement. Immediately, he dropped the cupcake he'd just bitten into and pulled out his largely worthless wand. "Mae, stay with me this time!"

Merlin knew, he wouldn't let her get hurt. No more of his friends would get hurt, even if it meant punching the werewolves. At least punching wasn't torture.

Dorian MacDermott

Dorian had been staring at the bowl of peas for nearly 20 minutes when a tremor along the table had him looking up and suddenly seeing his fellow classmates go from engaged in their dinners, to whispering frantically and shifting nervously along the bench seats.

He’d been safe in his tower during the last attack, so hadn’t felt the excitement and despair rip through the room like it was doing now, stealing his breath and twisting his stomach into the sort of knots that meant that some form of nervous vomiting was imminent. Dorian had taken the time to educate himself as much as he could on the current werewolf population since then; and what he’d found had set ice to his veins despite the fact that he couldn’t reconcile someone like @Jaxon Sinclair morphing into a drippy jawed nightmare, or any of the students for that matter, but a rooms vibe didn’t lie, nor did the urgency in the headmistresses tone.

Dorie had settled in next to @Salomé Schiferli and immediately grabbed hold of her wrist, squeezing until his finger and thumb touched and leaned in.

“Nothing good.” Because what could be good about staying in the great hall? That had to mean someone or something was outside of those doors.

"Stay?" Professor McGonagall's words finally managed to distract Julian away from the sound of the beeping.

"But - but we can't!" Was the Headmistress insane? It was a full moon night.

Aiden Hunter

Hogwarts was like a damn prison lately.

Not only that but now he was being told to stay in the great hall for the time being. "Oh yeah sure, this is good. Let's all just pile into the same place where we were all attacked before." And they wondered why so many attacks happened on the school. He rolled his eyes so far he swore they went into the back of his head.

The fun of this school had been dried up recently.

Miss Turner

Not AGAIN. Miss Turner immediately thought about locking down the library but then remembered that it was closed during dinner. There wouldn't be any students in there. Her cats were there but they knew perfectly well how to protect themselves... should they need to. Good luck to whoever was going to attack them because they likely wouldn't be able to find the creatures anyway. Knowing that the library and her cats were okay, she got to thinking about the Great Hall.

She leaned towards @Headmistress McGonagall and @Professor Foster and said, "I am quite good with enchantments and protection spells. Let me know if you need anything from me." She knew that she was only the librarian but she was talented with wards, protection spells, enchantments... all of those things. How else did she keep students out of the Restricted Section?

Rían O' Donnell

Quietly he sat alone at the end of the Ravenclaw table closest to the doors of the Great Hall. Eating alone was not a new event for Rían.

Picking apart a burger and eating some parts of it with his long fingers. With a piece of the meat patty halfway to his mouth he froze as the Headmaster made the announcement.

All at once the niggling feeling that had been lying low in his chat for the past few weeks began to eat away at him again. Dropping the piece of food to the plate, a sickening feeling settling in his stomach as he dropped his eyes to the table once again

Salomé Schiferli

Salomé felt a sense of panic. She couldn't help it this time. The last time they were in here they were attacked. While she liked to think someone like @Harmony Granger-Weasley wouldn't attack them, she knew once they became werewolves they wouldn't be able to help themselves. While she knew it wouldn't be their fault rationally, surely their headmistress realized this was not a good idea.

Glancing over at @Ralph Digby Hamilton, she nodded her head slowly because she didn't want to get away from her friends either. "I won't." She whispered as @Dorian MacDermott sat beside her and his hand wrapped around her wrist. Wiggling her hand free a bit, she took her hand in his and squeezed it softly. "I think you're right." She said finally her lips pressing into a thin line as she gazed over at the Head Table. "Surely they'll have a plan, right?" Surely there was a plan set to keep them safe.

Idina Iordanau

When McGonagall said they'd be staying in the Great Hall, Idina wanted to slam a head into the wall. Not her own, as the beeping was already giving her a headache, but someone's. Instead, she pulled out her wand and looked over where the Professors were. She could sense the tension in the air. Something bad was going to happen, she had felt it in the pit of her stomach all evening, and Merlin be tossed off a cliff if she wasn't going to be ready to help.

She abandoned Dove and strode over to @Professor Foster, joining Seeley and Juan. "I'll help if needed, professor. With whatever may be happening."
