Headmistress McGonagall

Dinner

She was not about to be left out of this. Dove had been attacked before, she would not let her guard down. Leaving her pin underneath the table to retrieve later, Dove strode behind @Idina Iordanauto join the others who had gathered. “Where do you need us @Professor Foster?”

Aster put down her container as soon as Professor McGonagall said they had to stay put, and looked beside her at @Julian Banagher. It seems like @Katherine Braelin-VonHaus had the same idea she did and she glanced at her friends. "Are you okay?" She was certain Kate asked that but she didn't care. She looked at Kate for a brief moment and back at Julian, concern etched on her face.

Alex knew what today is. Everyone does.

So it was no surprise that @Pali Dotchev has been anxious all morning. She hasn't been her usual bubbly self and it worried him. She was always happy, always smiling, always a spring in her step without a care in the world. He tried to soothe the situation by doing things that normally cheered her up: braiding her hair, getting cookies, doing those adult coloring books she procured from the library. It didn't seem to put a dent on the gloom.

It wasn't until they both sat next to each other for dinner that the mood lightened up a bit. By the time dessert arrived, the Great Hall had its usual chatter. The day was almost over, they will be sent to the common rooms pretty soon to tide out the full moon. He will be mirroring Pali in case she felt uneasy and they'll eventually fall asleep in their respective beds. Everything will be fine.

"Pali?" Alex looked in the direction she was staring and spotted Jack sitting with his friends. She was probably worried about him, he was too truth be told but the Ravenclaw knew Miss Lushia had everything under control. "Umm here, you have to try this chocolate cake, it's amazing!" He said enthusiastically in an attempt to cheer her up, holding up a forkful to feed her, she never says no to sweets. "Not as good as Mum's but close." He giggled as she happily accepted the treat. "You can uh, mirror me later if you want to talk." Early bedtime always made her restless.

Suddenly, the Headmistress declared they were staying put. Alex gasped, they were supposed to head to the commons early, the implications weren't lost on him, and of all nights. Was it happening all over again? "It's going to be okay." He said suddenly, grabbing Pali's hand and giving it a light squeeze. "We're going to be okay." He didn't exactly believe his own words but he had to put up a strong front for her.

"You okay?" Jack gently nudged Ryszard who seemed to be lost in existential dread (or his daydreams about his sister's boyfriend). In a way, she already knew the answer to her own question. He wasn't okay, hadn't been for a very long time, but if there was anything she could do to make him feel less miserable she'd do it. Without a doubt. In a heartbeat.

"We can leave if you want," she suggested, a small smile on her lips. "We can take the rest of the cupcakes and some of this food and go somewhere else. There's still some time before I have to go to prison and you return to the safety of the common room because you are planning on going to the common room and staying there all night, correct?" She didn't put past him to do something as reckless as staying outside. "Remember the wolfsbane only keeps the mind human and my human mind has a hit list and while you're not on it..."

If anything were to go wrong and the wards didn't hold, Jack didn't doubt that if she were to find him outside of the safety of the common room, she'd teach him a lesson in frightening ways.

Any plans to leave were canceled before they could be properly executed and when McG spoke, Jack froze. "What the flack did she just say about staying!? There's twelve werewolves here, we can't stay here," she muttered. "If anything happens... run. I mean it Ryszard Althaus-Valerio, you run or I will and I am not kidding right now, will kill you otherwise."

Unsure of what else to do she threw a cupcake at @Jaxon Sinclair to get his attention.

Their attempt at bubbly chit chat was quickly cut short by the Headmistress’ announcement. Listening, she went even more quiet than anyone could have thought possible.

Slowly her her eyes widened and she turned to Alex, dawning realisation crossing her face bit by bit. “I don’t know Ali...” she replied meekly. Though she did appreciate him holding her hand and she squeezed his hand in return

“I have a bad feeling” it was helplessness. She just didn’t know it. A range of emotions were whipping through her at the moment, she just was unable to process them properly. Continuing to intermittently squeeze his hand her eyes began to dart around the Great Hall again. “I wonder how long is a little while longer...” whispering, the thought that they were stuck in here with dangerous wolves so close to sundown hadn’t even crossed her mind yet

"I do have my own... but yours looks better. C'mon now, didn't Thea ever teach you that sharing is caring?" he replied as his own fork clashed with that of Aurora's, they playfully pushed the utensils back and forth easily ignoring the things around them.... at least Simon was having an easy time, that was until the Headmistress made an announcement. He dropped his arm and turned to look at the woman, who seemed composed as she spoke to a few of the professors nearby. "I-I don't like the sound of this." he muttered, eyes darting as the mood around them shifted and people began drawing out their wands.

Orpheus Midnight

Orpheus was getting more and more anxious just sitting at the table but he didn't miss the gathering of students up by their Defense professor and quickly made his own decision. Standing up he made his way up to stand with the older students, mostly Prefects he noticed but he didn't care. "I want to help. However you can use me do it," Orpheus told Professor Foster. There was just no way he could sit around and do nothing!

Willa grinned at @Jacquetta Rosewood as she starts talking about the importance of academics.

“I know... I know...” she glanced around as things seemed to be picking up, her heart racing as she immediately grabbed for her wand and Jacquetta’s hand. “We’re not getting separated this time? Okay??”

Professor Foster

Everyone seemed to be calling to her, like she was some sort of battle commander. What can I do? Where do you want me?

I wanted you in your damn common room, Peggy thought, still looking to McGonagall for answers.

"Ma'am?" Peggy repeated, trying to keep the edge out of her voice. "They can't change here. Even counting for 100% efficacy, do you really think their classmates can handle seeing them change. Here of all places."

"I should take them now. Before it's too late."

His stomach churned uncomfortably and he couldn’t but help give @Julian Banagher a look though he quickly glanced away. Was Professor McGonagall mad? They were all staying? He had no idea what was happening but whatever it was, it wasn’t good. And the beeping still droned on adding to his distress.

It occurred to him as Aster and Kate went to Julian that he was totally alone now when it came to meals and things. Julian had friends now that he was a werewolf. It had been something he had missed earlier as he had a lot of things with his former best friend.

Alex quietly checked his watch, wishing a second later that he hadn't. This was cutting it a bit close, the sun won't be around for too long. What will happen then?

"Uhh... they probably have to check something... in the corridors... before letting us go back the common room." Yeah, that has to be it. Nothing to worry about right? Alex turned to Pali, understanding her unease. The tension in the room is palpable as the minutes ticked on. He mirrored her concern in his mind, how much longer? Before sunset, for everyone's sake.

"Pretty soon." He reassured, wrapped her left arm around her shoulders protectively while his right lingered over the pocket of his robes where his wand lay.

Again?

This was unbelievable, but at least this time, this time Oliver wouldn’t be filled with the regret that he was sitting in his backyard sipping tea while his daughter and nephew were fighting for their lives.

He watched the headmistress begin to delegate and he rose from his own seat and headed towards the hall doors.  He wouldn’t put it past any of the students (including Seeley herself) to try slipping out the door on their own regardless of the notice and someone should have eyes on it.

Avalon Edens

Something was wrong. Something was wrong, tonight, when –

She looked out, and saw Jeramie. Saw other werewolves.

She put her fork down.

Avalon had been on edge all day, and now, something unusual, staying in the Great Hall on the night of the full moon... her eyes bored into McGonagall, wide and worried, watching from afar. It was probably nothing, and she would no doubt feel like an idiot when they could all leave in a few minutes, but...

But for now, she was uneasy.

Prince A. Charming

The wolfsbane potions made him feel gross, too, but he found that filling his stomach with food made it better. "The food helps... I don't know. Maybe it coats the stomach? Not sure. We all must react to it differently." He shrugged and felt bad that he didn't feel as awful as @Harmony Granger-Weasley did. But he didn't mention that it would hit him twice as hard later. He was doing okay now but he found that, right before the transformation, he felt a million times worse. So maybe it did hit them all differently. He would think about that later, though.

He kept eating but stopped when @Headmistress McGonagall spoke. "What... what do you think that means?" he asked his friend. He looked around for @Samuel Curtis but couldn't find the Hufflepuff. "Do you think it's happening again?" He knew that it was a full moon (how could he not?) so he was starting to worry. He could feel his heart rate kick up and he grabbed Harmony's hand. "It will be okay," he said, telling not only her but himself as well. He put his hand on his wand which was on in pocket.

Just in case.

Jacquetta Rosewood

The atmosphere of the Great Hall changed immediately and she turned to @Willa Henry. "Agreed," she said, taking her best friend's hand and grabbing her wand with the other. She should have spent more time in the Dueling Chamber! She hadn't been dueling as much because she'd had so many other things. Now, she saw that it was a mistake. She cursed herself inwardly and then resolved that she would be better about it after this. If she survived this.

Whatever "this" was.

Maybe it was nothing, though. Maybe the Headmistress just wanted them all to stay for some sort of surprise. But the feeling emanating from everyone around her told her she was wrong. "We're going to be fine," she said, trying to smile but failing. "I'm sure it's nothing." She looked around and saw the staff darting about. Obviously, something was up and it was not good.

Was it ever?

Richard Fowler

A man on the mission, Richard marched his way from the Entrance Hall to the nearby Great Hall. The aurors surveyed the corridors for any sign of trouble. Unfortunately, or fortunately, most of them were all too familiar with the intricacies of the school for adults their age. So far, nothing was out of place. There were moving portraits, fidgeting suits of armor… but was that the annoying pings of the werewolf pins? Richard scowled. He couldn’t escape them and it was a shame that the inflicted werewolves in the school had to suffer through them as well. He’d like to yell at the students to cut the crap but there were much more important things to take care of right now.

Not only was another attack at Hogwarts called in but with a quick glance at his wrist, Richard saw the sunset was rapidly approaching. The older auror increased his pace and soon found himself walking into the Great Hall. Even the magic of its iconic transparent ceiling, one Richard used to love as a student, was dull with the intensity of the day and the adrenaline pumping through his veins.

“ATTENTION!” Richard’s magically amplified voice rang throughout the Great Hall. He knew Harry Potter had already informed McGonagal of the threat of attack. The chaos in the hall made that much evident. No longer screaming at the top of his lungs, his magicked voice still carried over the noise of chattering students. “Richard Fowler, Auror." With all their visits to the school, everyone all knew who the aurors were by now. but protocol was protocol.

"Please remain calm. We are here to help. As I’m sure you know, there has been a threat made against Hogwarts. Headmistress McGonagall, professors, as has been discussed in previous safety discussions, the plan will be to keep the general mass of students in the Great Hall. My colleagues are here to assist and protect the doors and windows. We also have aurors out patrolling the halls and grounds for stragglers, as well as looking out for any sign of danger. As of now, consider the Great Hall on lockdown.”

Now came the unpleasant, but necessary part.

“Due to sunset approaching and it being the night of a full moon, we will ask for your full cooperation in escorting the students inflicted with lycanthropy to their designated safe place for the transformation, the hospital wing.” He knew it would probably be met with some resistance. Isolating students didn’t sit well with him either but it was necessary due to the nature of the werewolf curse. “Unfortunately, we cannot risk them being with the main population of students if there is an attack. We will gladly accept help from the familiar faces of staff to escort these students to the Wing.”

As nice as his words were, they were not a request.

Richard was as serious as the set of scars, claw marks, running down his face and his thin lips pressed invisible beneath his trademark mustache.

----

Hello Hogwarts. The Aurors have arrived on time for once. Safety measures will be implemented to keep you all safe. My colleague will shortly be creating a thread in which we and certain staff members, will be escorting the werewolf students to the Hospital Wing.  No other students allowed to post, unfortunately, for their safety.

Please consider this thread CLOSED momentarily. You will be informed when it is open for all your lovely reactions again.

Headmistress McGonagall

"We are not trying to incite a panic, Peggy!" Minerva said under her breath as she checked her mirror again.

Aurors coming to Great Hall. Will escort werewolf students.

Harry really needed to tell her more, and she had half a mind to march down to his office right then and there. But, the first priority was making sure that the students were safe.

"Yes, @Professor Hambeldon check the wards. Reinforce them if you need to," she nodded. She was about to give instructions to Peggy too, when an auror arrived.

Mercifully, it was not one of the aurors that had been named in the Ministry's report as having used unforgivables. But still, one couldn't be too careful. "Peggy, go with them," she said to @Professor Foster. "I trust you and Stuart the most with them."

This thread is once again open.

"No, Julian, I want to go with you," she said to him.

Thank Merlin, Peggy thought. She'd been all prepared to defy her. That wasn't going to end well for anyone.

"Yes, Ma'am," Peggy said briskly, jumping off the dais.

She amplified her voice. "Wolves, you are with me."

"I repeat: You are safe with me," she repeated, staring down THE MAN.

Aster sat up on her knees when she noticed @Richard Fowler. She has never seen him before, but something in his voice commanded them to separate from their wolf friends. Looking at Julian and Kate, Aster frowned. "I don't think they will let you go." Aster told @Katherine Braelin-VonHaus. Still, she wasn't comfortable with this. "I have a bad feeling about this though."

Calliope Thorpe

The moon was beautiful tonight, bright and silver (flooding the dark sky around it), shimmering over the Hogwarts grounds. In the past, Callie loved full moons (she always wanted sleepovers with @Avalon Edens on her rooftop during those nights), but today, she felt nothing but dread, the memory of what happened before stinging sharp. She'd eaten barely anything on her plate even though she knew very well her mum would be upset if she knew (although Callie was usually skilled at moving the food around to make it look like she'd eaten more than she had and folding some in her napkin when her mum was around), but now, it didn't matter and she couldn't stomach anything.

Callie had seen the posters and knew all the rumors, but she still refused to accept that the werewolves at Hogwarts were the same as the thing that'd attacked her that day. Still, she knew almost nothing but fear right now.

"Why are they still here?" She hissed at Avalon, panic twisting through her. The same faces as reflected on the posters were in the hall on the full moon, even as the night ticked on. She clung to Avalon's arm and rested her head on her shoulder, pulling her closer, closer, trembling. "I'm scared, Av."

The aurors arrived, and Kay gripped Robin's shoulder with a firm hand, intent on reassuring him. "I gotta go with the Aurors, but everything's gunna be fine, okay? It won't be like last time." She said this like it was a spell, some kind of magic to be made into reality. "I'll bring you some meat bars in the morning."

She didn't kiss him goodbye, because here and now it would bear too stark a resemblance to what had come before. Instead, she fluffed his hair with her fingers, waved goodbye to her friends, and headed over to stand with the other werewolves.

--Especially Jeramie, cuz he looked like he needed some encouragement, too. When she sidled up to him with a broad smile and slung an arm around his shoulders, she made sure to let him know everything was going great.

"Hey, at least they're ahead of the game this time, yeah? Plus check-out that guy's mustache! It's like the world's friendliest underscore."
