Headmistress McGonagall

Time to Stand United

Maggie Sinclair

She thought she'd been slick enough. this was apparently not the case, doubly so when little @Jack Dare entreated them all to get along.

Maggie would have gone with it because he was speaking truth and she'd just taken a crash course in intersectionality, but Behati had just gone and flipped a bowl of mashed potatoes and they'd gone and splattered all down the front of her elegant black turtleneck, and Maggie saw red.

"No we bloody well cannot!" she snapped, slamming her hands on the table as she stood before reaching across for a corn cob to lob right back at her.

"Not with that bigoted cow there!" she declared, pointing at Behati before snatching her beret off like she was snatching off her earrings.

Aster Darling

Aster looked over at @Jack Dare because they should get along, he was right, but then she watched in horror as food began flying everywhere. Aster had to duck to stop herself from getting hit by corn.

"I don't think they're going to stop." She told him right as @Maggie Sinclair looked like she was getting into fighting mode. Looking around she wondered if she should do something. So she did something she probably shouldn't have. She slipped some sticky toffee pudding Maggie's way. What? It was sticky. That would be terrible to wash out hair if you know what I mean.

Behati Gadot

Depulso!” Behati’s wand hand moved to cast the corn cob back in the opposite direction, toward @Maggie Sinclair. She, too, stood up, and continued to glare at Maggie. She would’ve taken off her earrings, but they were studs, not hoops. “If I’m a bigoted cow then you’re a blonde bimbo!”

Julian Pritchard

Julian looked up at the sound of @Jack Dare's voice to see that the situation was escalating into food violence. Against Behati. One of the people in whose presence he had to spend a significant portion of his day.

"This isn't helping," he said, perhaps a little too loudly, and raised his wand to try and intercept the corn cob @Behati Gadot

had just sent as it sailed over the Ravenclaw table towards  @Maggie Sinclair, trying to throw it off course, parallel to the length of it. "Depulso!"

Josephine Tindall

Josephine, the epitome of maturity thankyouverymuch, fell back into her seat laughing when a greasy chicken leg smacked Behati in the side of the face and things escalated.

She nodded her appreciation @Maggie Sinclair

"Nice."

She grabbed a dinner roll, the little guy that started it all, and took a bite.

Headmistress McGonagall

After she finished speaking, it was clear it wasn’t enough. She exchanged a look with Peggy as a young Hufflepuff girl, Miss Frost, stood up and screamed at her classmates. Before she had a chance to do anything about it, Mr. Smith, the Head Boy, scooped her up and carried her out of the Hall. She made a mental note to find them later.

ENOUGH!”

Minerva’s voice thundered across the Great Hall. With a wave of her wand, the food that was being thrown from table to table dropped to the floor. Spells that students had cast veered off course and then disappeared harmlessly, into nothing.

She stood up from her spot at the middle of the staff table, and began to walk toward the spot of chaos in the middle of the hall.

“Detention for Miss Gadot, Miss Sinclair, Miss Tindall, and Mister Pritchard,” Minerva folded her hands as she looked at each of them in equal measure. “I will not tolerate bigotry in my school. But I also will not tolerate fighting or spell-casting outside of class. Do I make myself clear?”

Maggie Sinclair

She’d been half stood on the table proper ready to launch herself at Behati to claw the girls eyes out, when McGonagall stormed in like the world’s most ill-timed avenging angel to strike down darkness where she found it in the form of what had apparently turned into a food fight.

Oops.

Still though. The cow had sent mashed potatoes at her, and she’d just torn open the plastic wrapping of the turtleneck that was meant to be her ‘fight for justice’ outfit that very morning, and now it was ruined. Plus, it was Kenneth Troll, and you did not flack with Kenneth Troll, fam.

Detentions be damned, and @Headmistress McGonagall too. She was not going to allow this to go unpunished. Maggie turned and stepped down off the table onto the bench and then back onto level ground -nearly slipping in the congealed grease of something- to hold her head down in what should have been proper chastisement, as was her acknowledgment of the headmistresses’ edict.

“Yes, Headmistress.” She parroted before leaning around the woman to completely belie any of it with a flip of the bird in @Behati Gadot direction. .

“But flack you, Behati! This isn’t over!”

“That’s quite enough, Miss Sinclair,” Minerva said sternly.

Cosette Mercier

What in the world was happening? Cosette knew that the school has changed, she had friends that were different and didn’t talk to them much. She walked into the great hall and wanted to find @Jacqueline Frost and finally talk to her but it seems like she was being carried out as soon as she got there.

What did she miss?

Than the headmistress was yelling and giving out detentions.

The school was divided and she was just sad.

But someone, @Maggie Sinclair, who the headmistress called out again was told to stop it. At least it seems like someone cared for the students. Cosette wished she was that braved, but she wasn’t.

So she just found a seat and blended in with the background, just like she has for the last three years. Next to @Alexander Crow and she looked over. “What is going...going on?”

Behati Gadot

Julian intercepted Behati’s corn cob attack, and Bee momentarily glared at him instead, wondering just what the hell he thought he was doing. Had he not just witnessed Maggie throw a chicken leg RIGHT at her face????? Why was he trying to help her? Bee made a mental note of this.

Headmistress McGonagall’s voice boomed throughout the Great Hall, and Behati stilled, quickly putting her wand away. The Hufflepuff had the decency to look ashamed of herself for allowing the Ravenclaw girl and Maggie bloody Sinclair to get her all worked up in the first place, but she didn’t feel ashamed of her spell-casting because it was all in self-defense.

What was the point of learning all those spells in their lessons if they couldn’t use them outside of lessons?

She said nothing as Headmistress Gonagall handed out detentions, but internally she was screaming every expletive known to mankind at @Maggie Sinclair.

“Try not to get lost on your way to detention, Maggie. We all know there’s only so many thoughts you can hold in that head of yours,” Bee bit back.

The brunette had never received a detention before, but there was a first time for everything. And at least she’d received a detention for an admirable reason—defending herself—instead of a reckless one.

Maggie glared, but was smart enough to keep her eyes fixed on Behati, because something told her she wouldn't' come back from whatever McG did to her if she dared to turn her flinty gaze on the woman.

"Whatever."

....And it would have stayed that way if not for Behati's little quip that completely and utterly removed any remnants of self preservation Maggie had, and with a shriek of irritation, Maggie started around Mcgonagall, fist balled up and ready to put paid to peoples faces.

"Don't get lost? You're about to become a missing person like five minutes ago, you scab!"

Minerva had become quite adept at holding students back from a fight in her decades of teaching. She pulled the Slytherin back immediately.

Pine Tree

“STOP.” Pine yelled. He couldn’t handle this any more. He was happy that @Maggie Sinclair was standing up to the hater. But he couldn’t deal with this any more.

He started wanted to cry, he wanted to throw a pinecone at someone. Pine looked at the headmistress and back at his food. “I just want to live a normal life.” He said to himself but was sure others could hear him.

Behati Gadot

Behati smirked, smug as all hell when McGonagall (predictably) grabbed ahold of Maggie before she could properly launch herself at her nemesis. She knew that McGonagall wouldn’t be there to step in during their detention, so she had to arm herself with all the spell knowledge she possessed. The gauntlet had been thrown down.

This meant war.

"I agree, Pine." Harmony responded, after hearing his comment. She hated seeing the fighting, she wished that she could make it all stop, wished that people would just understand everything they were going through.

It certainly bloody did mean war, but @Headmistress McGonagall had spindly fingers and they kind of dug in in a way that meant she'd likely be spending her evening under the foundations of Hogwarts if she tried to yank away from the woman now.

"Fine." she snapped, crossing her arms instead. There was always later though. ? and a mouthed 'flack you' @Behati Gadot to boot.

Pine Tree

Looking over at @Harmony Granger-Weasley. He was sure she could tell he was to cry. Which he hated, everyone would know he was crying all the time. “I’m glad there are people who want to stand up for us, but I can’t bare this.” He couldn’t and he was fine with it. “I should just stay in the common room everyday until the tome we have to go to the wing.”

he hated this but while people hated there kind or even even stood up, it was becoming to much to hear about all the time.

Idina Iordanau

Idina rolled her eyes as she enjoyed the chaos around her. She hated werewolves as much as the next semi-reasonable person, but she certainly wasn’t about to voice that at this point. The lack of popcorn was a true shame and she’d be speaking to the House Elves about that, but to see someone from her own house being so... stupid?

“Best shut up Sinclair, or I’ll take enough points from Slytherin to keep us in the negatives for the rest of the century,” Idina hissed at @Maggie Sinclair.

Aster Darling

Aster didn't like how upset this was making @Pine Tree, she's become protective of her friend and knowing that this was upsetting him made her upset. Pressing her lips together, Aster glared at @Behati Gadot, she was acting so snug and so mean. Why did she get pleasure in making a twelve year old cry? ?

She also didn't like how smug she looked. Aster looked at her sticky toffee still sitting there, Aster considered throwing it at the older girl and may have done just that. Oops.

Throwing @Idina Iordanau a scathing look, Maggie raised a solitary fist in the air as a bigger flack you to the establishment.

"Shut up, Idina, nobody cares about points right now." She snapped as she was led away.

Robin Corelli-Rose

Never before had Robin seen such a display of power. Oh, he'd seen people really, truly, angry of course, and thought he'd been that himself in recent weeks, but @Headmistress McGonagall took it to a new level - and with a poise Robin had never seen in anyone. She was a shining figure of a level of righteousness - and level of Done so high, Robin didn't think he'd ever witness anything like it again.

Just when he thought that the Headmistress's words had well and truly fallen on deaf ears, that they were the unintentional spark on the wick of the explosive the Great Hall had become, she was able to stamp it out with more control than Robin ever hoped of possessing himself, if he ever lived to her age.

"Wow," he breathed, buffeted. He could almost (almost) hope that people with acid for words and salt caverns for hearts like @Behati Gadot would find it in themselves to be humbled. "Wow."

Jack pressed his hands over his face.  "Maggie!" he snapped.  "Shut up!"  He would have liked to say that Mum and Dad would ground her until she was fifty for such a display, but it was probably likely that only Mum would, at this point.  Dad would have told her to keep on fighting the good fight, as long as she didn't get expelled.
