VH37 Presents: Spin the Bottle

Recommended Posts

Jacqueline Frost

Two werewolves, some humans and a goblin walk into a classroom disaster or rather hilarity ensued.

Poor Robin.

Oh well he tried.

"And by someone we mean you?" Jack mumbled to the other Jack, a momentary smirk on her face that faded when she flicked her gaze over to @Malcolm Mercer III. "What is he doing here?"

Kay Wickham

Kay had dropped down cross-legged next to Magda, who had been eyeing the crowd and their special bottle with suspicion from the moment they stumbled inside. She wondered if the smaller girl couldn't figure out the rules either, and for a moment she felt a little zippy-zap in the heart, a feeling of kinship. Yes, she thought, they had a lot in common--they both thought the bottle was mysterious, and also they were both semi-magical beasties.

--No, that wasn't the thought she'd meant to have, and she frowned to herself in internal reprimand. Magda was good, and she was good, and everything was great.

Then Robin spun the bottle, and Kay almost jumped in her seat to fetch it cuz IS THAT HOW TO PLAY, SPIN IT AS FAST AS POSSIBLE--but no, now it was stopping, and everyone was staring, so she stared intently as well to see what they saw. It must be something magical that was about to happen.

Everyone looked at Magda next. Presumably because the bottle was also looking at Magda. So Kay did that too, even though she was a leader and not a follower, cuz she was also a team player.

What happened after that was the most confusing part, because then Magda was saying they were supposed to kiss. Kay snorted, a snort that also happened to have a lot in common with Magda's earlier snort, because this seemed like a for real joke. What kind of game involved kissing?

But then Robin was leaning over and pressing his lips to the Slytherin girl's, and Kay had front row seats to the flesh-on-flesh action, and HOW WAS THIS A GAME? WHAT WERE THE RULES? HOW LONG DID THEY HAVE TO KISS AND ALSO WAS THERE SOMETHING IN THEIR MOUTHS THEY HAD TO PASS AROUND cuz that would make a lot more sense as a game, maybe a tiny breakable egg or something.

Her best friend looked at her and Kay looked back at him, trying to ask with her eyes if he had an egg in his mouth and whether he'd passed it. She was pretty sure he'd succeeded at whatever he was trying to do, though, so she just gave him an encouraging thumbs up, and then gestured for him to focus, because if this was a real wizard sport then he had to get his head in the game.

Magda rated him poorly, and Kay took that upon herself. She'd never taught him to pass a small egg with his mouth.

Ryszard Althaus-Valerio

Ryszard didn’t know whether he was relieved that the bottle had landed so far away from him or whether he ought to be horrified for his...acquaintance. It was a very chaste and awkward kiss, and Ryszard tilted his head slightly to observe better.

It was fascinating.

”Are you going to publish this?” He asked Xenia, who was sitting right next to him. His one ally in a sea of wilderness.

A fight was definitely going to break out at some point, and before Ryszard could pick up the bottle and throw it at Jaxon, Magda was spinning again.

Brooklyn Shea

"Poor Magda," Brooklyn cupped a hand over her mouth to stifle her own laughter as Jo slumped into her, and she beamed proudly when her friend called the boy out. She was, however, relieved at the good start—surely Brooklyn could beat a 4 out of 10. When she put on make-up, she was at least a 7 appearance-wise, and it made sense that kissing aligned with that.

For a moment, Brooklyn thought the bottle had landed on her, but then: "Oh!" Brooklyn laughed a sound of breathy relief. She couldn't imagine the embarrassment she'd feel if Magda thought Robin was a better kisser than her. "You got this," she smirked at Jo. "The standard's low."

Magda Trickett

So apparently getting chosen by the bottle meant the dubious reward of getting to kiss yet another random person straight away. Since the discomfort of the situation had belatedly begun to dawn on her, she held her hand on the bottle for a few seconds longer than necessary before steeling herself and giving it a brisk flick of her wrist to send the bottle back into its ominously rotating blur.

Being the kisser was more pressure than being the kissee. She wondered what the rest of her classmates were thinking. Were they all just praying it wouldn’t land on them?

The bottle slowed… then stopped. When she saw where it had landed, Magda’s steadily building nerves dissipated instantly. Thank Ragnuk. It was Jo.

Grinning broadly in relief, Magda leaned over, grabbed her friend’s face, and planted one straight on Jo’s lips. Ten out of ten for sure.

It was messy—not the kiss but the situation in it’s whole.

Jo knew that Ry had ulterior motives with his suggestion and for a brief moment she almost respected the guy for bringing such dramatic joy into their lives.

The hurt feelings, the shattered hearts and Magda’s brutal assessment of Robin and his lackluster kiss.  Poor Robin.

She was still laughing when Magda spun the bottle, resting comfortably against Brooklyn’s shoulder when the bottle came to a slow painful stop and landed on…

Jo raised a brow, smirking as Magda wasted no time. The tiny blonde grabbed her face (not the first time she’d done so) and planted one right on her lips. It wasn’t like Dean at all, it was energetic (unsurprising) and...practiced? Jo’s brows raised in surprise as she pulled away.

“You’ve clearly done that before.” Jo grinned and reached for the bottle. Hopefully she'd have the same luck as her friend.

Kay watched the girl friends kiss, and was genuinely touched by their enthusiasm and camaraderie.

Kay watched Winston watch them kiss, and was genuinely concerned that the stringbean might faint.

Ryszard was a mad man and this would unquestionably end in a fight breaking out. Xenia was more than prepared for that to happen if that ended up being the direction things went in.

Magda spun the bottle and it landed on Jo. Xe frowned. There was nothing salacious she could write about that. Hopefully the next one would be a juicy story.

"Well that was certainly better than Robin's grandma kiss." Though, the bar wasn't that high.

He really wanted the bottle to land on Ryszard. Jo was more likely to punch him in the face than kiss him. He swore that Ryszard was his friend but Aiden couldn't lie, it would be pretty funny to watch. A kiss or a punch, it didn't really matter.

Ryszard Althaus-Valerio

The bottle landed on Jo, and Ryszard blinked, almost as if he couldn’t quite believe his eyes. He still didn’t have any favourable feelings towards the Ravenclaw and had to hold his tongue to keep from commenting on it, but he still found himself gaping. Little did Ryszard know that Winston was doing the exact same thing (for shame).

He watched as Jo put her hand back on the bottle, surreptitiously leaning back. If it landed on him, he was leaving.

Oh?

When the bottle stopped on Aiden, Jo glanced to her friends on either side of her and shrugged. She didn’t know the Gryffindor boy well enough to have a deep reaction about kissing him. However (yes, however! Delightful!) this was Ry’s best friend (only friend?) and Jo couldn’t help but look directly at the snake across the circle and grin.

It was like flipping him off but with her lips and the Ravenclaw girl would relish this.

Closing the distance, Jo held Aiden’s chin in her hand and went for it. Really went for it.

The kiss that is.

Not the kill.

If Jack had been a pug, his eyeballs probably would have popped out of his head with the amount that they were bulging.  Alas, he was the wrong kind of dog.  ?

"Jesus."  Definitely had nothing to do with this.  At all.  And there was absolutely no room for him between Jo and Aiden.

Aiden Hunter

At first Aiden thought that spin the bottle was a complete waste of time. That was until the bottle landed on him.

How funny was it that he had to kiss the girl that had just beaten Ry up? It took all of his strength not to burst out laughing right there. The best (and funniest)  part is that it would probably piss Ry off. He promised that Ry was his friend but at the same time it was always funny to mess with friends. Especially, when it was so easy.

It seemed like Jo had the same idea as him since she decided to go full force attacking him like a cheetah goes after a gazelle.

He decided to reciprocate.

Winston just managed to close his mouth when Jo spun the bottle and it landed on Aiden. He was happy that Jo didn't have to kiss any awful people. Aiden was a good guy.

But wow, Winston watched as the two of them went at it.

Magda Trickett

“What, and you haven’t?” Magda gave Jo a knowing smirk in return, her nervousness having now been replaced by completely unfounded ego for basically no reason. She was the best kisser ever.

Still, she was glad not to be in the spotlight anymore. She just hoped Jo wouldn’t have to kiss any of the uglier gits among them, like Ryszard (Magda was still holding a grudge after that whole punching-Jo thing). She watched her friend spin the bottle with bated breath.

When the bottle landed, however, Jo mostly just looked sort of triumphant. Magda titled her head, watching Jo swoop down on the Gryffindor boy. Okay, maybe Jo was the best kisser.

Aiden had just called Robin's kiss a kiss for grandma's.

--Or had he meant a kiss that a grandma would give? Either way, Kay was sure that it was a bad call, cuz she'd never met her grandmothers but she was pretty sure they didn't have an adorable little frowny mouth like her best friend did.

She was too busy trying to shame Aiden for his poor judgement that she missed the bottle spin, but she certainly didn't miss the way JO THE COOLEST GIRL IN SCHOOL TINDALL leaned over and went to town on Aiden's snarkmouth. Not to mention how he leaned into it full throttle until they looked like the kind of late afternoon television programming Kay wished was cancelled more often for football games.

Kay bit hard into a stick of lukewarm beef jerky she'd been keeping in her pocket, and chewed.

When Jo finally pulled away (because people need air eventually) she gave @Aiden Hunter a pat on the cheek, a wink, and then returned to Winston's side.
