VH37 Presents: Spin the Bottle

Recommended Posts

Robin Corelli-Rose

Oh -

It was only when Robin lowered the cards did he realize

- wait

what the score was. He blinked at the "8," wondering how the heck the "1" he'd been sure he'd been holding had managed to twist and curl itself into a new number before he could do anything about it. It wasn't that Francis deserved anything less, but rather that--

He was momentarily distracted by the departure of both Adrina and Jaxon. That left the probability of the bottle landing on any of the two-and-a-half people he would have liked to kiss again that much higher. The problem was the 'half' - which brought him back to his original thought: Francis was the best cousin Robin could ask form and so, he deserved perfect kisses, if kisses were the name of the game. Having never kissed a boy before, Robin decided that Francis was probably the safest choice, but.

But...

But Francis had already invoked the Bottle Gods, with a prayer the counted his own concern.

Whatever the answer, you couldn't argue with fate.

Aggie Price

The two of them were on patrol and made sure they stayed together.  Even though they were different houses, one would get an escort to the other's common room entrance and wait for them.  This time Aggie had met her partner and they were working their way through their current patrol shift when noises could be heard coming from what was supposed to be an unused classroom.  Looking at her partner with a raised eyebrow expression, the pair headed for the room.

Both Aggie's eyebrows went up when she saw what exactly was going on.  "Seriously?" she asked of no one in particular and then addressed the entire group.  "You do realize this is not what Headmistress McGonagall meant by 'buddy system at all times'?  Who's responsible?"  She wondered how her partner was going to react to this event.

Hi, y'all!  Friendly, neighborhood 'spider-prefect making an invasion.

PM if you don't wish to be invaded but then you'll never find out who her partner is, will you?

The cats were relentless. They were nothing like the kittens he had adopted with @Adrina Althaus-Valerio and he very briefly considered giving his one away if this was how Catoine would eventually turn out. He could go live a life without Ryszard, it would be fine. The rain had finally stopped - no thanks to @Robin Corelli-Rose ? - but the tiny animals were still at it.

First werewolves, and now cats. This was exactly why Ryszard had refused to go to Care of Magical Creatures when his sister had asked.

Adrina spinned the bottle again, and Ryszard watched through his wounded (physically, not emotionally; not yet) gaze as it landed on @Francis Barnes II who, as far as Ryszard knew, wasn’t a werewolf (or was he?). He hoped he wasn’t, because the Slytherin thought his friend would have told him (they were friends, right? D:).

It didn’t take much longer for the kiss to be over, and Ryszard, fully realising what a tender kiss it had been, turned his mystified gaze to Francis. He wasn’t old enough or emotional enough to appreciate it just yet, but he just knew, in that moment (cue opera music playing in the background). You know.

”It wasn’t that bad!” He yelled behind his sister, as she rushed out. Ryszard no longer had control of the situation, and he watched like this: ? as @Jaxon Sinclair followed Adrina out. Why couldn’t he leave her alone, he wondered, and was just about to get up and follow, when the door opened for a third time.

It was a pair of prefects, standing over them and ruining their fun. Ryszard stared at the one who was talking - he didn’t know any prefects, unfortunately, unless @Dax Gordon counted as a prefect, and he doubted he did. “Did you all just misplace an entire year and then not wonder for ages” - because they had been here for hours; it was probably night time by now - “where we were?” He crossed his arms, glaring at the older girl, new scratches evident on his arms and face. “The one who’s responsible for all this just left - Jaxon,” he quipped, lying through his teeth. Anything he could pin on his roommate; anything at all.

Behind the watching spectators, the bottle continued to spin, and finally came to a stop, uttering its last before it finally ceased to exist in its current form as a weapon for misdemeanours.

-

@Francis Barnes II spins the bottle again and it lands on @Davis Turlough - but do they get to kiss?! :o

(Thank you so much, @Aggie Price!! Regardless of what Ryszard is thinking right now, this just adds to the fun<3)

Robin Corelli-Rose

The Prefect's arrival shattered their little bubble universe. Robin remembered they were in school and his whole world was not in this classroom. He remembered he also completely forgot to call his Dad, like he'd promised.

.,.but the bottle was still spinning - slowing down, but still moving - and his eyes caught on the dull glint of it. Fate was taking a while to decide itself. Robin tracked it with his eyes, half an ear tuned towards the Prefect.

And then it stopped.

Robin's relief was a nearly a physical thing; he put a hand to his chest and exhaled with a pent-up breath: it wasn't him! Robin had to close his eyes. He wouldn't have to kiss his cousin after all.

Oddly, he felt a little - just a smidgen - disappointed.

Davis Turlough

As Adrina and Jaxon left, Davis wondered if now would be a good time to follow suit.  Granted, he had been violating the buddy system when he'd arrived and probably shouldn't continue to push his luck, but staying was also pushing his luck. He'd never kissed anyone other than his family and that totally wasn't the same.  Not to mention was on the cheeks.  If he stayed, the bottle would eventually land on him.  While he didn't believe in fate, it was a simple matter of statistics.

Deciding it was a great time to exit stage left, he started to get up as the bottle stopped on him and a pair of prefects arrived. Oh bludgers.  Pausing mid-rise, he took a deep breath and glanced at the prefects and then @Francis Barnes II before continuing to stand, still unsure of what he was going to do.  The prefects timely arrival would certainly give him an out on participating in this game.

Flicking his eyes from Francis back to the prefects, he repeated that action a few times before coming to a decision.  "Flack it..." he muttered under his breath.  If he was going to get in trouble for the crime, he might as well actually gain something from it.  While kissing one of his dormmates had never been high on his list of priorities, he wasn't going to let the opportunity slip by to get some practical experience for when he kissed someone he actually wanted to kiss.

Walking purposely towards Francis, he shrugged his shoulders slightly.  "Might as well," he smirked before holding the sides of Francis' head and leaned in, hoping his aim would be true and he wouldn't bump noses or anything else equally awkward.  So much for don't get caught.

Francis Barnes II

Francis had made a single, humble request to the Bottle Gods, and they had answered in kind. Robin had been spared the cruel fate of having to lock lips with him. Both boys could now let out a sigh of relief.

Glancing up, Francis met eyes with Davis Turlough, and came to the somewhat delayed conclusion that he didn’t know an awful lot about his housemates. In that sense, this game had been rather informative. Francis had learned that Aiden was half a hag, Malcolm was a human candy dispenser, and that Davis, though quiet, had a sharp eye for athleticism.

He’d seemed impressed by Kay’s feats of physical prowess, and that warmed something in Francis’s chest. He liked it when people admired his friends, which was all Francis needed to come to the conclusion that kissing Davis would probably be pleasant.

That is, if Davis didn’t currently look like he was trying to beat a hasty retreat. Davis’s eyes shifted from Francis to the prefects as he slowly uncoiled to his full height, looking like he’d found himself stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Francis was also in something of a pickle. If Davis was looking for an out, he’d certainly found one. While Francis wasn’t in the habit of forcing his lips on the unwilling, he did consider it something of a loss to end the game on this particular note.

Fortunately, Davis did not remain undecided for too long. Francis couldn’t help grinning excitedly when he realized Davis’s intentions, climbing to his feet just in time to be pulled in for a kiss. It was probably the first time he’d had to lean up for a kiss, which was something new and nice all on its own.

The kiss itself? Francis took a moment to consider as he pulled away, looking thoughtful. “Hmm... yep, those are definitely butterflies.” he decided with a grin.

Robin Corelli-Rose

Robin absently held up a staying hand to the Prefect (@Aggie Price - sorry!) , hoping to stall any attempts at finality to put an end to their circle of kisses. "We're not finished yet," he murmured. There were still unkissed people left.

This has been an Experience, and Robin wasn't finished taking it all in yet; he'd had no idea that kisses could be quite so different, as individual as the very people that shared them. His dads had always made them seem easy; effortless. A peck here, a smooch there. Occasionally Robin caught them in something a little more... involved (after which they would jump apart and go back to whatever it is they were doing before they got lost in each other). The kisses Robin saw there, today, spanned a whole spectrum of variety in very little time.

They'd taught Robin things about himself and his friends: that @Pandora Midnight's kisses were made of fairy-tales and had a kind of warming spice; that he wanted to be on the receiving end of all of @Kay Wickham's from that point onwards (but that he also curious whether or not his experience would be the same with the people that she'd kissed - like @Xenia Lupu-Haidei; Robin decided her kisses might be the equivalent of fireworks); and, he'd began to wonder what kissing a boy would be like, thanks to @Francis Barnes II. He'll have to ask about those butterflies.

Josephine Tindall

Well the drama been Jaxon and the crying twin wasn't surprising at all. Jo watched as the pair left the room and stared at @Ryszard Althaus-Valerio like had just grown an extra head as he called after his sister. "God you're bloody stupid," she spat at him. Clearly he had the emotional range of a pin head and didn't realise it wasn't about the kiss being bad (since Francis had done a surprisingly good job) but rather Addy's feelings for Jaxon—whatever they were.

And just like that their game was over. Or was it? Jo bit the inside of her cheek to stop herself from laughing at the prefect. There was nothing scandalous about what they were doing and if this was considered rule breaking Hogwarts truly was a sad place.

"Well considering consent is a huge part of kissing lets go with all of us were responsible. Since y'know," Jo interjected. "We control our own actions."

"What exactly are we doing wrong here?" Jo questioned, narrowing her eyes at the fun police (@Aggie Price) and stayed seated in the circle. "It's before curfew, we all have a buddy and this isn't hurting anyone." Well not physically anyway, Jo didn't want to delve into the emotional ramifications.

"There are no rules being broken. Let them kiss."

And they did. Good.

Idina Iordanau

Aggie was a decent sort of person, Idina assumed as she walked alongside the younger Ravenclaw Prefect, red hair swinging in a ponytail down her back. The extra patrols were robbing the seventh year of valuable study time in preparation for her upcoming NEWTs, but her protests had landed on uncaring ears. Safety blah blah patrols blah you’re responsible for helping keep students out of trouble.

It was gross.

As such, she was in a mood. Not that this was particularly anything new for the Slytherin. Since the attack she had wanted to take her NEWTs, graduate, and get out of the school hand-in-hand with Dove faster than Harry Potter himself could attempt to Expelliarmus Voldemort. Instead, her family was demanding she stay and fulfill her obligations to the student body.

And so she patrolled. Day in and day out, it felt like. She let Aggie get a few feet ahead at one point just after they heard a commotion from a classroom down the hall - Idina thought she saw Dove and an opportunity to sneak away, but it had actually just been a statue with a wig on it. As she caught up to her fellow Prefect, however, all she saw was two Gryffindor boys kissing and a few of the more obnoxious sort protesting Aggie’s presence.

“Chill Aggie,” Idina snorted, leaning against the door jam with a smirk on her face. “They’re not technically breaking rules yet.” Not that she cared at all about any except Winston. “Besides, they’re probably safer in this large group than they would be if they were merely paired up like we are.”

There were definitely better ways to spend her last few minutes of freedom before their ridiculously early curfew.

“Spin again, the drama is fascinating.” Plus they were absolute amateurs, as Aggie so kindly pointed out in a mutter Idina was certain had been intended for her ears only, though she nodded her agreement regardless.

**************

Surprise! It's the Slytherin's favorite Prefect, I'm sure. Please do feel free to keep playing. Idina is enjoying herself at the moment.

Kay Wickham

Francis's fingers rested on Adrina's bared throat with all the lightness and reverence of an artist painting porcelain. He kissed her with none of the athletic embellishments of Kay's encounters, but as she watched him brush his lips across the same mouth she'd just parted from—kinda weird, but they already shared snacks, blankets, and Robin, so what were a set of lips indirectly kissed between friends?—she thought that this simple, straightforward and delicate approach suited him. It made sense that his kisses would be just as inquisitive, coyly categorizing and appreciative as the boy himself.

She heard something clatter, and noticed Robin fumbling with the signs until he was holding up the kind of score that made her think someone must be bribing the judges. Kay side-eyed the “80”, then Fran, then back at Robin. Could this be nepotism even if they weren't actually related?

Then Adrina thanked him and fled the room, and Jaxon followed, and Kay did not follow. Mentally. What had just happened? She knew the girl had been having a tough time, but she hadn't thought there was anyone in particular to blame, rather just... general malaise. For a moment Kay worried she had given Rina some werewolf spit-something after all, and that now the Hufflepuff was running off to vomit. Then again, Kay had kissed Xenia first, and she seemed fine... except for the way her cats were still hissing.

--As if at a DOG. Had Kay given Xenia dog breath? She grimaced and covered her mouth, wondering if anyone else had noticed these obvious connections. Luckily Francis was spinning the bottle again, and both of her best friends were staring intently at its rotation, round and round, slowing down until it landed on...

Suddenly, a pair of prefects arrived at the door! Kay wondered if it was the bottle or the fact that most of them were soaking wet that seemed more compromising. They asked who was responsible, but could any single person really take the blame for all of them sitting down to play this game for the last half-hour? No, really, she wanted to know, because SHE WOULD TAKE THAT BLAME if she could. Sharpen the sword of Gryffindor, cuz she would be ready to fall on it, seppuku-style. Metaphorically.

She opened her mouth to explain to the prefects that this was a perfectly harmless game, and that it had done pretty well at cheering up a brand new werewolf, and they couldn't begrudge them that, right? Some good ol' fashioned competitive snogging to show a wolf a good time?

To her relief—because that had sounded more convincing as a half-formed thought in her head instead of a whole one—her housemate Davis suddenly got to his feet, walked across the room and pulled Francis up into a kiss. Kay gaped, because she'd never noticed her housemate had these feelings for Franny. How long had he been harbouring the kind of deep love that could motivate him to kiss-and-tell in front of the school hall monitors? Had he always—oh wait, never mind, the bottle had been pointing at him.

When they were finished, her friend described it as “butterflies”, and Kay didn't know what that meant beyond Davis had shown her cinnamon rollboy a good time. That was enough for her to give the Turlough twin a triumphant two-fingered whistle that sort of died partway-through when the grumpier prefect encouraged them all to keep playing while they watched.

... A little voyeuristic, but that also seemed to be one of the rules of this game.

Xenia Lupu-Haidei

They’d gotten interrupted by prefects, but @Davis Turlough and @Francis Barnes II still kissed anyway because they KNEW WHAT THEIR AUDIENCE WANTED.

And then Luna was rubbing herself against Xenia’s legs. All of Xe’s cats sensed the authority figures and got into defense mode to defend her. She had her own attack army.

Davis Turlough

Butterflies?  Did that mean he did something right?  Grinning, he made mental notes of what he could use later.  Truth be told, it was a bit of a blur.  One moment he was plotting how best to use the prefect to his advantage to escape the game and the next, he was holding Francis' head and giving him a kiss.  "Ditto, mate," Davis said after a moment, rubbing the back of his head in nervousness over whether the entire year was about to have detention or not.  He didn't know if they were actually there since it was more about making a point of doing the deed he was about to get in trouble for, but it seemed the right thing to say.

As the other prefect spoke, though, any fear of disciplinary actions started to erase.  They never needed to know that he had arrived at the classroom alone.  Unfortunately, it also meant that it was his turn to spin since they were allowing the game to continue.  Oh, Merlin... How did he get himself into these things?  At least it was going to be memorable as a first kiss story in the broad sort of sense.

"Time to spin, eh?"  he questioned rhetorically and flicked his short sycamore wand at the bottle, setting it in motion.  Belatedly, he wondered if he should have offered for Francis to go again since their round wasn't just about the game, but it was too late for that.

Ryszard Althaus-Valerio

Almost all at once, the rest of the participants in the game started agreeing with him, and he was surprised to see @Josephine Tindall taking part of the blame, instead of announcing that he was lying. Ignoring the comment about him being stupid, Ryszard was sort of impressed, if for but two seconds - though he was pretty sure it was simply because they all cared way more about the game than they hated him. Good thing the Prefects were there or Ryszard would have said something he would later grow to regret.

“What?” He said out loud, as @Idina Iordanau took charge and instead allowed them to continue with the game. Ryszard remembered her from their first day at Hogwarts, and how she had completely abandoned the entire lot of first year Slytherins in the Forbidden Forest; while it had been a rather funny and daring adventure at the time, it had lost its humour since the attack. That Forest didn’t belong at this school.

This was unexpected. Rather, Robin had not expected Pandora to be kissed again - not that she wasn't kissable, Robin simply didn't expect to watch her kiss anyone else. Because what if they were better?

What if @Davis Turlough kissed Pandora better than he did?

Robin shifted uncomfortably. @Pandora Midnight deserved great kisses, and Davis seemed able to deliver - but at the same time, Robin did not want to be upstaged.

Pandora Midnight

Pandora had been so distracted by the incoming prefects, she hardly noticed that the game was continuing on behind her. When the first girl walked in, she was so sure they were going to get into trouble. As everyone around her began to fight for their right to kiss each other, she shied back. What more could she add on that the others hadn't already said? Even though the second girl had given them the a-okay to continue, they were apparently not leaving? It made Panda feel bad for whoever the next kiss would be. Having an audience of peers was one thing, but an audience of those with more experience was chilling.

That was when she noticed the bottle was once again pointed in her direction. Have one thought...She looked around, cheeks heating up once more, as she tried to figure out who it was that even spun the bottle in the first place. Hopefully they wouldn't mind that she couldn't do any of those over the top kisses that had come before her...or whatever that sweet kiss was that Francis had done.

As the bottle spun, Davis started to regret walking into that room that day.  Sure, it had been interesting, but now that he was the center of attention and it wasn't to make a point, he was right back where he was before the prefects arrived and was a bundle of nerves thanks to his inexperience.

Watching with bated breath as it slowed down and stopped, he offered a small smile to the quiet Hufflepuff.  Breathing out, he stepped closer.  He hadn't even realized he'd been holding his breath.  "It seems I owe you a kiss, Lady Pandora," he paused and held a hand out to her.  "Er... if you want one, that is," he added and rubbed the back of his head again.  That was about as far as he could go with stalling.  Now all that was left was to hope he wasn't embarrassed by being rejected... or worse, bumping her nose.

Pandora Midnight

He called her a lady. Despite her giving up on fairy tales, being called a lady made Pandora happier than she would ever admit. She blushed, letting the happy warm feeling fill her completely. A little highbrow banter was thrilling to her. Since hardly anyone she really knew personally were raised in a similar matter. Not that she would wish etiquette lessons on her worst enemies. The Gryffndor was at least trying though and in this case, it was the thought that counts.

She placed her hand into his own, since he had offered it and replied, "I doubt I would be playing the game correctly if I refused, sir Davis." It was so much easier to speak when she felt like she was just putting on airs. While Panda didn't exactly feel one way or another towards her classmate's kisses, she did feel much more calm than she had only moments before.

It felt like years had passed before he got her answer.  It was funny how time seemed to slow down when you least expected it.  Grinning at her answer, he nodded his head in agreement.  "No, but there is always a chance you'd look at me as a dragon and not as a knight," he chuckled before stepping closer, still holding her hand.

Placing his other hand on her cheek to use as a guide, he leaned forward and kissed her for a few moments before pulling back, hoping that was an acceptable length of time.  "Thank ye, fair maiden, for the favour you bestowed upon me."  He really wasn't sure if that was the proper response in their little charade, but it sounded good.  Releasing her hand, he gave her a quick bow, wanting nothing more than to be out of the spotlight and back in his seat.

Rían O' Donnell

Rían wasn't sure why he was watching @Davis Turlough & @Pandora Midnight. The intimacy of it all made him uncomfortable. But not his usual level of discomfort surrounding feelings. It was like a feeling of extreme nausea but, not quite. It was an upset in his stomach. Jealousy, but he didn't know it.

When they actually kissed there was an almost painful jerking sensation in his chest. Far from the minor niggle he had been experiencing recently.

All at once he stood up in an uncoordinated messy rush and exited the room in a fluster.

Rían out.
