Drew Knight

Where? Kacie asked, as if Drew knew the answer. As if Drew knew anything right now.

Uhh...” replied Drew, resisting the urge to look back over his shoulder and into her eyes. All around them, the Great Hall was a mass of screaming, running kids and spellfire, and still blurred by his stupid useless stupid [French swear word] [French swear word] tears. Dashing his eyes hurriedly on his sleeve and taking a breath, Drew focused on the subtle tug of Kacie’s fist around the back of his shirt. She was with him, she was watching his back, and as long as she was touching him he’d know exactly where she was.

Pro: both their common rooms were password protected. Con: both their common rooms were up dozens and dozens of stairs. Besides, in the crushing mass of bodies and sound, just getting out the Great Hall doors and into the castle would be a feat.

Drew snarled in frustration as friendly fire from a student almost took him down. He turned his wand on the only sure target in the room—himself.

Agilitas! Just go for the doors! I’m right behind you!”

It was nice to have someone to study with, even if they were studying different things. The company was enough and it felt like Aggie was supporting him and helping him get through it. She had different aspirations in life and he supported her goals as well. He was one of those people who was happy with any and all friendship as long as the person was nice. Aggie fit this perfectly and it was why he was always glad to have her around. Part of him wondered if he liked her as more than a friend but he didn't know if he could go there. She didn't even know his real name, after all.

He looked up when there were loud sounds and was shocked at what he saw. Were those werewolves? He reached out for Aggie but she was already gone, trying to defend herself and those around her. And then he remembered: he had family in here. He looked for Avery and couldn't find her. He didn't care about his fake identity right now. "Avery!" he called, searching for her. He had grabbed his wand from his pocket, even though he didn't know what would even help him at the moment. "Avery!" he called again. "HAS ANYONE SEEN MY BABY SISTER?" he shrieked.

Simon Reed

One moment he'd been day dreaming about talking to Rad, and the next he was registering a blood curdling scream.

The safest option is not to engage.

That was it. The only  coherent thought that seemed to have embedded itself in his mind. It kept repeating itself over and over inside of his head as he sat motionless at the table. The screams, spells and utter chaos that had suddenly erupted had been muted by the fear that was suddenly coursing through his veins. If this was some sick joke in wherein a Professor was trying to get students to implement their defense against the arts skills, Simon couldn't find the humor in it. His eyes flickered around the room, watching the creatures as they advanced on the students, and yet he couldn't find it in himself to do anything...

He was practically ready to deliver himself on a silver platter to the next available werewolf who looked his way, that was until a pair of hands grabbed at him. Simon instinctively jerked at the touch, expecting to see something or someone monstrous but he was met by the stormiest blue eyes he'd ever seen. Rad was worried, he had trails of tears running down his cheeks and he'd come for him. The Ravenclaw nodded along and squeezed his hand, pulling the boy behind him... but Radueriel was not alone, he'd brought someone else along. "Get behind me, fast! We can't leave through the doors, there could be more of them on their way... we need to group together. There's more of us than there are of them." At least he hoped the latter to be true.

There were more of them. More students than werewolves. If they could just band together and try, they could possibly hold them back or scare them away. Aurora, Hazel, Stella, Julian, Dorjee. AURORASimon reached into his robes and pushed Rad back towards where he remembered the rest of his friends to be, Eli on the other hand had escaped his reach and was now standing on top of a table. He wasn't sure if that made him more of a target, or if he could fight better from his new vantage point. His eyes kept searching until he caught a flash of red hair not too far off and a sliver of comfort washed over him. She was okay. For now.

"Come on. We need to stick together! RELASHIO! Go towards Julian, okay?" he yelled as soon as another werewolf joined its pack.

Simon attempts to knock back @Dorothy Harness with a revulsion jinx! Is he successful? Probably not... ?

Ryker Leigh

The barrage of spells did little to cause harm.  The moon had more control over his mental state then any spell ever could.  The vines were easily torn with his teeth, the water was a cool drink and washed the blood of the stranger wolf from his fur, and the charms couldn't dull the hunger that drove him to follow Gwyn as he charged into the panicked group of small humans.  The yelp of pain from the wolf alarmed him, angered him and he wrenched the nearest wand from the fist of the the student he could reach as he lurched forward alongside of the bigger wolf, tackling the teenaged boy to the ground.

The sparking stick flew meters away and he snarled in his face, a long tangle of drool slopping onto his cheek and into his hair, hot breath, fresh with the scent of dirty, forest wolf fur forced into his nose.  It dared him to move, to flinch, to scream.

Finally, he had a chance to eat.

But a singeing, prickling feeling across his back drew his attention away.  Dropping flickers of spellwork from the air, 'The brooms had gotten inside?'

Regretfully, Ryker tore away from the boy and took cover under one of the tables, knocking over one of the benches and ramming it into students still scrambling for the exit.  He'd continue his hunt from here.

Ryker followed Gwyn and knocked @Killian Dracel to the ground, removing him of his wand.  Enjoy your drool facial.  But, sparks from the raining sparkler spells and flares and sent him hunting from under one of the tables.  FUN!   Don't you want to play a game?

Aggie Price

In the time they'd been friends, Aggie had never really learned much about Drake's family but that was okay because she didn't talk much about hers -- except for Ethan and the fact that she adopted him as a brother.  So to hear him suddenly stand up yelling for his ......

.... babysister???

Avery??

This was not the time for asking what was going on.  She'd do that later.  She was sure he had a reason and she was willing to listen to him but first there were werewolves to battle.  "She's over there!" Aggie called out to @Anderson Potter pointing toward @Avery Potter.

Then she turned her attention back to the battle.

Dorjee Shire Sherpa

"Simon... Stella... we should duel some time. I bet it'd be great experience," Dorjee said after a moment. No sooner had he finished than he regretted even being present at all.

Because now everything was chaos.

Dorjee froze in place, unsure if he should move or run or even breathe. So many of his friends were in the Great Hall right now and unfortunately so were werewolves. This was the very definition of a problem.

"What- how- why??" English was failing him, so instead Dorjee began screaming in Sherpa. It was useless, but he wasn't sure what else to do.

Avery Potter

Ethan and Veronica did not appreciate her totally wonderful idea. She believed that by helping the wolves feel more human – because they were when they were not furry – it would calm them down. She did not go any closer, not wanting to upset her prefect king or her family.

Then… it happened.

Avery heard her name being called once more. This time, it wasn’t by Alayna screaming for her. It wasn’t from Ethan, telling her not to be silly. It wasn’t even from Veronica, who had screamed. The voice was one she had longed to hear whenever she felt a pang of homesickness. The voice was one she had spent two years trying to avoid, in case she upset him within the hall.

Deciding to abandon her wonderful plan of petting the wolves, Avery’s eyes welled up and she went running towards her brother. She needed him to tell her that everyone would be okay. She needed him to be there for her, as all big brothers should be.

“SONNY!” She screamed out, her voice broken.

He had admitted she was his sister.

They were family.

Ava Winchester

Ugh, how did he know it was her??

Ava made a face Anton couldn’t see before removing her hands in defeat but not before ruffling his hair.

“Good guess,” she said, silently vowing to get him the next time. He’d never even see her coming. Unfortunately for the Ravenclaw, she didn’t plan on staying and opened her mouth to say she planned on dragging him to the dueling chamber when the sound of glass breaking caused the Gryffindor’s head to turn sharply toward the source.

Anton’s words echoed her thoughts (well, sort of, there was an f-word that he’d missed) and she reached for her wand while she tried to piece together the situation. A…was that a werewolf? Did they have more at the school that no one had told them about? Ava remembered @Darcy Redmount, her former mentoring partner but other than that…

You run,” Ava hissed at @Anton Hunter who had already sprang into action. Ava followed suit with her own vine hex and aimed at the werewolf’s throat just as another appeared. At this one she sent a deluge charm, “Deluvium! What the,” Ava swore, “Is going on?”

She noticed Molly, one of her former mentees, and heard the girl call out for switching spells. It was a genius idea and one that Ava was gonna take advantage of.

“Sorry, Hunter, mine is more important,” the teen apologized as she grabbed the boy’s schoolbag to switch it out with her own. The sword @Professor Gawkrodger had let her keep was in it. Seemed like the best purchase right about now. “Cover me while I do this,” she instructed as she tried to focus on performing the spell. Anton didn't hesitate as Ava heard him sending spells behind her.

Ava sends a vine hex at @Gwynthr Hughes and a deluge charm at @Ryker Leigh. She’s in the middle of performing a switching spell to get her backpack and the sword that’s inside it while Anton covers her back.

"Thank you!" he called out to Aggie who he was sure was very confused at the moment. But they'd have to deal with that later. Right now, he had to do his part. He had to keep his baby sister safe. He was worried about his other family members, of course, but they were older and more ready to defend themselves. He had part of his mind on little Alec and Josie as well but they were somewhere else. They had to be safe, right? They were only little babies and they couldn't get hurt. He couldn't think of it. No. He had to focus on what was happening now.

Avery came towards him and he immediately gave her a one arm hug, his wand in his other hand. "Stay behind me!" he told her. He backed them up against a wall so that nothing could come at them from behind. "You are not to move, okay? You are going to be safe. I will make sure you are okay." He made sure to keep his head swiveling from side to side. He didn't want to be taken by surprise. His wand was always read and he could sense that Avery was behind him. "I love you," he said so she would know. He didn't know what would happen.

Molly Stone

"Damaris, no!" Molly screamed, firing another flurry of sparkler spells, mixed with lightning hexes, down at the werewolf attacking her. "Killian, you idiot!" How the hell was she supposed to attack the werewolf without attacking Killian now? Did he have a death wish? Oh well.

Molly continued to fire from high in the air, well above the wolves' heads. She debated swooping down and pulling Damaris onto her broomstick, but with the wolves' teeth inches from her, she figured that'd do more harm than good. It'd be wiser to take the wolf out, wouldn't it?

The other wolf had moved under the table, which solidified Molly's belief that everyone needed broomsticks too. "Get your broomsticks. Get in the air, somehow," she cried out again.

She gave @Ava Winchester, her former mentor, a thumbs up when she saw her attempting a switching spell. "Who needs help with their switching spells?" Molly shouted.

Aiden Hunter

Things were falling apart quickly.

A bunch of students had just gotten barreled over by one of the wolves and now one of the Slytherin prefects was pinned to the ground. He could tell that he was slowly losing his nerve. It was all moving far too quickly for him.

He noticed a group of second years huddled underneath a table and positioned himself between them and the wolves. If he could get in between them and the wolves then maybe he could keep them safe. He kneeled down and looked at them. "You guys just stay under there okay? If you get an opening run." He stood back up and gripped his wand, it trembling in his hand. He felt nauseous.

Killian Dracel

Killian was thrown clear from the wolf that had Damaris pinned under it. The growl of frustration that came from the prefect could only rival that of a growl from a werewolf. His wand was lost to him, though. Taken, actually, and he had no idea where it had clattered to. He couldn't even worry about that now as he starred right into the jaw of rabid death. "Don't suppose you've had your shots," Killian found himself saying, though he wouldn't recall the campy banter.

He was scared. He was scared that this was how he was going to meet his end when he had such plans for the future. His application had been sent in to the Ministry. He wanted to do things with his life. And now, it was all gone to hell.

It's weight was crushing... the saliva ruining his perfect hair was the furthest thing from his mind.

And then, it was gone, and he could breathe again.

"THE BLOODY THING ( @Ryker Leigh ) WENT UNDER THE TABLE!" he cried out.

Eli Benoit

The ability to knit not just a rectangle but an entire sweater was extra impressive; Eli wanted to say so. Rad was very cool, and Eli liked that he was good at things. This was on the tip of his tongue—awkward phrasing and all—when they were interrupted, and Eli mimed a friendly 'What?' back at the Gryffindor, Kay. Before they could get much further, though, there was the sound of breaking glass.

Oh hey there, nine months of foreshadowing.

Eli's first reaction to hearing a yell of 'Werewolf,' was something like 'Yeah, I've been thinking about those a lot lately.' A split second later, he realized what was actually happening. The Ravenclaw's first instinct was to climb up onto the table, to get a better vantage point to best plot their escape, but Rad grabbed him by the arm before he was halfway there.

"Hey, what?" Between the part of him dwelling on the conversation that had almost happened, and part of him reaching for a state of calm in the chaos, Eli couldn't articulate his objections. He used his left hand to grab his wand out of his right and brandished it in the direction of a wolf. "Impedimenta!" Off balance from Rad's continued tug and with his wand in his non-dominant hand, the jinx petered out uselessly. Yeah. That was a fairly new one. That result was unsurprising.

Ages later, Eli was sure, they reached their mystery-destination, one @Simon Reed. @Radueriel Benson let go of his hand, and Eli immediately climbed up onto the table. With his wand comfortably in his grip, a vantage point reminiscent of a platform, and a stance that felt more powerful, Eli felt a little bit better. He realized with surprise that he hadn't cast the concentration charm, but the urgency of the situation had the same effect.

"Exactly," he agreed, as Rad pitched that they needed to get out, and he nodded to Simon's instruction that they should all head towards Julian. Where was @Kay Wickham? Could he try to cover her until she caught up?

And could anyone else hear his heart pounding really flacking loudly?

Eli does not cast and climbs onto a table.

Davis Turlough

Making use of the study hall had seemed like a good use of his time.  When the unexpected guests, arrived, though, his books and essay were all but forgotten as he stared, frozen.  He really should have been moving and not sitting there, not moving from his spot as he stared at the chaos.  Finally as something or someone slammed into him, he was shaken out of his stupor and started looking around the Great Hall.  He needed to find his sister, his brothers, or his cousins.  He was the eldest.  It was his job to protect them and so he did his third mistake that day and jumped up on top of a table to get a better vantage point.

He really hoped that @Creylen Turlough Jr., @Aurora Turlough, @Vittorio Turlough, @Katherine Braelin-VonHaus, and @Evander Braelin-VonHaus had been smart enough to skip study hall that night.  The fact that two of them were first years and weren't allowed to use the Great Hall that night wasn't even a blip on his radar.

Alayna Weasley

Her fireworks seemed to be working. Though not quickly enough for her liking (the beasts still managed to attack, bowling several of her peers over and stealing their wands away), they visibly took a step back after a moment and went to dodge under the tables. Alayna took that as her opportunity to turn things around and though her heart was beating so fast she could hardly take it and mind was shouting at her to not, she ran forward.

She wouldn’t become the hunted today. No, today she was the hunter and there was no bloody way in hell those beasts were going to be allowed to do anything to her family. To anyone.

“GET OUT!” the girl shrieked as she sent spell after spell after the masses of fur. Another fireworks charm was cast, this time lower to the ground, followed by a disorienting charm…. Strength-stealer…

“LEAVE US ALONE!”

Veronica Dursley

Externally Veronica Dursley wanted to scream that she knew her suspicions were correct, but this didn't seem like the time or place for that to happen.

Instead, her entire focus of originally coming down to study for OWLs had drastically changed to a make sure the entire family is safe. Sure, she wasn't a Potter, but she was related to them and she was a Dursley. She knew it was now or never for her to change what Dursley was synonymous with. She ran over to near where Avery was and looked at @Anderson Potter She had a lot she wanted to say to him, but it was better that she just give him a nod as they were trying to keep Avery away from hugging a werewolf who had no intentions of letting someone hug them.

She looked at Avery and then at over at her other very distant cousin. She grabbed her wand and pointed it towards one of the wolves, any of the wolves, it didn't matter she firing of stunning spell after stunning spell in hopes they would be able to get out of their safely without seeing any needless injuries to family.

Who would've thought Veronica Sue Dursley would actually be using magic to save someone? Or well try at the very least.

----

Veronica is casting stunning spells directed at @Ryker Leigh, @Gwynthr Hughes, and of course @Dorothy Harness. Are they decently powered? Who knows, Veronica spent literally three years trying to not do any magic, but hey she's doing it now. People sure can change, right?

Pandora Midnight

Everything was happening all at once. Before she could even decide what she should do, or even could do, someone came barrelling into her. @Lindy Rose. Relief washed over her. A friendly familiar face. It took her a moment before she even realized what the older girl was asking. @Robin Corelli-Rose. Her sweet silent knight. Of course Lindy would want to make sure he was safe. She remembered seeing him before she sat down. There was a huge chance he had moved from where he once was but Pandora shakily raised her free arm.

"H-h-he, o-over there....with Kay." She stuttered out. It had become even harder to talk with all of of the emotions running through her.

She glanced at where Panda was pointing and nodding. "Okay, we can start over there. Are you okay? Take a deep breath, Panda, we'll be okay. I've got you," she told the younger Hufflepuff, giving her a small smile.

She knew she couldn't really promise anything, but she was going to try her damnedest.

“That is probably true” Samuel grinned with a shake of his head. He wasn’t the best student but he was definitely a Hufflepuff at heart. He always tried to give his school work his best effort. It wasn’t always the smartest or correct but maybe one day.

”So this paragraph here” he started before suddenly the chaos began. Sam jumped at the commotion and was frozen in fear at the sight of wolves. Was this all a bad dream?? Thankfully @Prince A. Charming was more quick acting than he was.

”This isn’t supposed to be happening,” he whispered the obvious, clinging to his friend. Sam didn’t think he’d be any use but he now held his wand. Just in case. Maybe there was a way out?

Mason Fluke

Fluke had been knocked aside from the werewolves in the Great Hall. His cage had been useless, vanishing the moment his concentration was interrupted. The floor was hard (what do you expect? it's made of stone!) and he banged his chin off it. There was a moment of dizziness, and he was pretty sure a second year just walked over him to make their escape.

From his spot on the floor, though, he could see. He could see the werewolf stalking under the tables, and he instinctively cast, "Incarcerous!" towards it's feet.

Kacie Weaver

Kacie waited for what felt like an eternity, but must have been only a few seconds.  Come on, Drew, come on.  Say something.

She grinned fiercely as she heard Drew cast.  She scanned once more to make sure she had the time to spare, then cast, “Agilitas.  Right, grab onto me.  We go together, you hear?”

She had no idea where they’d go once they got out… but they had to get out first.  Out then up.  If nothing else, the shifting staircases might give them a little more cover in their esacpe.

She felt his hand on her arm.  She took the cue to release his shirt and entwined her fingers with his.  Kacie longed to look back at Drew, but they had to watch for the danger.  She squeezed his hand, hard.  “Together.  No matter what.”  She pulled his hand and broke into a jog, keeping to the edge of the Hall, making a break for the door.

Prince A. Charming

He had never wanted to go to magical school. He had begged and pleaded with his father to let him stay a muggle. To continue his schooling with his best friends and to keep playing football. He had tried showing that he wasn't really magical. He had tried everything and none of it had worked. So he was, at the magical school he hadn't wanted to attend, scared of magic and now scared of magical creatures. He had few friends here but one was right beside him. He worried about @Harmony Granger-Weasley but he couldn't see her. What if she was hurt?

"Maybe we should try and fight," he said. "I know I don't like magic and I'm not good at it but we can't just let the others get hurt. What if someone dies?" He didn't know what they could do, though. "Maybe instead of spells we could throw stuff at them?" He peeked his head out from under the table and grabbed the random objects that he could reach. A few books, some goblets and plates, and his muggle pencils and pens. "Maybe if I get them with a pencil they'll die of lead poisoning..." It was worth a shot.

Gwynthr Hughes

He nearly had her.

The heat of her pulse was very nearly what he could palpably taste, when he was buffeted to the side by his pack-mate. He snapped irritably in grudging thanks, and trampled over the fallen pair in his haste to get away from their twiggy little magic sticks. He had to keep moving. He had to eat.

His ears stung from the screeching that pinged off the walls and the rest of him burned with hunger.

Spells zapped at him from numerous directions, minor annoyances that pinches and slapped at his heels and muzzle. A bolt of lightning momentarily blinded him. Rearing and arching, he flashed his paws through the air, yelping at the considerable discomfort and at once trying to bite it away. Bodies jostled against him as he tried to escape the attack, shaking his massive head against it. Running half blind and wild with rage, he crashed into wooden benches, feeling them creak under his assault.

Spittle flew from his snarling mouth.

When his vision cleared at last, he found the closest human to him and plowed right into him, using his head to scoop the boy up and snapped his jaws at his robes. When they caught, he threw his head vigorously, scratching with his claws on whatever part of him he could find. Bracing his paws, he felt the bone give way under his weight as he thrashed the human. He turned just in time for the spell to catch against his new toy.

Spitting him out, he snarled at the spell-caster and lunged for her, snapping at her wand.

MAYA POST

There was a new element of danger here, one she did not anticipate and for a moment she froze as the noise of the chaos assailed her senses. Everything was confusion and the stink of magic was heavy in the air.

Still, she streaked into the Hall on her pack-mate's heels, a sleek blight of shadow as she charged at the backs of knees and snapped at flapping robes. She needed to get rid of the magic sticks. She needed to snap some wrists.

---

@Simon Reed, you have been properly thrashed and flung around, and your knee has been broken. Also, you can thank @Molly Stone for firing her spell, which has hit you. Molly, you live for now.

Invisibility gave her an advantage, she knew.  While they couldn't see her they could still smell her but with all the panic in the room she could only hope to avoid and evade.  She didn't look back to see if Jack had listened to her - she should have - but she didn't   There were more younger students closer to the chaos and more wolves leaping in.

The hufflepuff ran the length of the table and aimed her wand again, this time not at the wolves but at some of the other students, ones she knew didn't stand a chance at reaching the exit.  It's for their own good, she reminded herself as she cast a jinx at @Veronica Dursley , a girl she'd seen cast a shower charm - something that wasn't going to help anyone.

Then she aimed another one at  @Celeste Ferranti, who just happened to be near her feet.  She only hoped they were strong enough to hold out.

Julian Pritchard

Spells had started flashing and Julian tightened his grip on his wand. Part of him wanted to leave his friends and join the fight, help put a stop to it before they could reach Hazel and Aurora and Celeste. Two things stopped him, however: one, there were too many people. He was as liable to hit one of his schoolmates as one of the werewolves; two, the werewolves were people and, though he understood that he couldn’t hold back on account of this, he didn’t want to find out if he could even muster the will to hurt them. Not in such a high-stakes situation.

He bit his lip. He couldn’t see his mentees still, but he hadn’t seen them before it all started. He had to hope that they just hadn’t been present. Hopefully, they’d been at the library or the common room. He took a deep breath.

“We need to get out, we need to get help,” he said, when Aurora and Hazel started bringing up Simon and the rest of their year group. It made him physically sick to think about leaving any of their classmates to get mauled by a werewolf, but the more anyone waited to get some actual adult help, the more likely more people would get hurt. “We can get them on the way out if we…” He stopped. He knew Hazel and Aurora would never go for this plan.

“Let’s start moving slowly towards the entrance. If we don’t see them by the time we’re to the door, I’ll go back for them. I promise.” He was the strongest duellist of the lot of them. It made sense that it would be him. He reached out with his free hand and rested it lightly on Hazel’s arm. He needed it there, to physically reassure him that she was still with him, where he wouldn’t let anything happen to her.

His plans, however, were thwarted quickly when -a- he heard screaming in a familiar (but unintelligible) language and -b- he spotted one of his duelling mentees perched atop a table, making himself a target and -c- he spotted Simon, and a werewolf was coming right at him.

“Get Dorjee,” he whispered to Aurora, before taking off in a sprint towards Simon. " @Eli Benoit, get down from there,” he yelled at the boy as he pointed his wand at the werewolf that had had his roommate just a second ago. “Relashio!”

Julian casts a Sparkler Spell @ Gwyn. Pls let Simon and Molly go. ?
