The Wrath of Luna

Recommended Posts

Xenia Lupu-Haidei

Xenia was still keeping her three cats under wraps at Hogwarts. She was in her third year now and they had yet to be discovered. Such a feat left her feeling invincible, but she made sure to bring herself back down to earth because hubris was the destruction of man and woman. She’d take them all out individually for walks or petting sessions, and she’d make sure that none of their time with her was ever greater than the others because she didn’t want any of them getting jealous.

It’d been Luna’s term that morning to go on one of her daily walks and engage in her daily petting session, when the grey cat leapt out of Xenia’s grasp and skittered down the corridors. The cat took winding staircases (with Xe following close behind) and would meow every time she hit a new floor. Xe was getting worried. Tried as she might to capture the creature, Luna had a mind of her own and once she tasted the sweetness of freedom she refused to be contained. Xenia weaved and dashed after the cat, but to no avail. Her eyes went wide with fear when, upon reaching the ground floor, she saw Luna racing into the Great Hall just as some students were opening the doors.

”Luna, get back here!” She yelled at the feline creature, but alas it didn’t work. Luna ran in and began running amok all over the tables, stepping in people’s food and jumping on top of heads at quick speed. She’d found freedom and she wouldn’t be stopped!

Xenia’s grey cat, Luna, has escaped and is now running crazy in the Great Hall. Feel free to roleplay your character trying to catch Luna or just being inconvenienced by her (or ignoring her, if you want), but please don’t send any spells her way! She’s fragile and Xenia will be angry with you.

Ryszard Althaus-Valerio

It was really a good thing that Ryszard was already used to this.

”Xe, this was a bad idea,” he said, referring to the cat, as he watched the cat skid into the Great Hall. He had just been about to leave, but the start of mayhem had pulled him back in.

“I’m so glad you’re not in Slytherin,” he added, shuddering as he imagined having to deal with Xenia’s feline army in the common room as well. It was one thing if he was the one creating a mess, but quite another if it was a cat that he didn’t get along with.

Cora Ives

"I think you've lost something." It was luck alone that put Cora so close to the action, or maybe it was the kitty treats she kept tucked away in her robes just in case; either way, her oatmeal had cat paws stamped into it and Cora had a delightful start to her day.

She was well within distance of what could only be the harried cat-owner, but the furry thing didn't stick around long enough for her to get her arms around and likely wouldn't come back within range on free-will alone. "Need a bit of help? I have extra kibble if you need it."

Xenia Lupu-Haidei

This was the precise reason why she didn’t take Luna, Midnight, and Blackout all out together. Well, that and her fear that an authority figure would see all three cats, know they were all hers, and demand to know why she was breaking Hogwarts’ one-pet-per-person policy. Xe knew that if all three of her babies went out together at once, they’d all get really excited about being together and run around the castle, making her go on a wild goose chase for them all. Luna was smaller than the other two and even she was being a lot to handle right now. But, Xe wouldn’t trade this experience for anything else.

The Ravenclaw girl groaned as she watched Luna skid farther into the Great Hall. “It really was a bad idea,” she confirmed with @Ryszard Althaus-Valerio because how else could she explain this? She couldn’t keep track of Luna. She was a kitty on the prowl. “But I thought she could handle it! She isn’t usually this adventurous!”

It was true. Being the smallest of her siblings meant that Luna was usually seeking protection from Blackout and Midnight, and she usually stayed out of the action because loud, sudden noises frightened her. It was probably the kitty treats she could smell in @Cora Ives‘s pockets that made her act like this.

“Could you try to lure her over with your kibble?” Xe asked her housemate.

Cora Ives

It wasn't that Cora tried to turn kits wild with her well-stocked kibble pockets; it was just that she'd gone so long being unable to pet them that she felt she deserved a leg up wherever she could get one. If that meant smelling slightly fishy and maybe turning pets semi-feral, then so be it.

She still, maybe, felt a little bad about being at fault for someone's stress, and was quick to take her younger housemate's suggestion.

"This is supposed to be their favorite kind," she mentioned, proudly, as she dug a handful of kibble out of her pocket and waved it towards the awol cat. "Here, take some too. Maybe we could herd her into your arms?"
