Sincerely Yours, The Breakfast Club

Recommended Posts

Alexander Crow

Alex loves breakfast, or anything related to food really. So when @Pali Dotchev decided to drag him to the legendary breakfast club, he followed suit. That and he was literally getting dragged by the arm and had no choice but attempt to keep up with her swift pace, or risk a tumble. Which he'd rather not, the hospital wing is far from his favorite place in the caste.

Admittedly, the ravenclaw was mostly timid and awkward during his freshman year at Hogwarts and failed to socialize with his peers. Now a second year, and having developed a tad more assertiveness thanks to the impromptu interactions during dueling, Alex is ready to dabble in some mingling. Hopefully over food, so he may take a mouthful to keep occupied whenever he couldn't provide an satisfactory answer to an awkward question.

The running had come to a quick halt in front of a massive table, already cluttered with a handful of his classmates. Alex tried not to trip over his shoelaces as he struggled to regain footing, hastily straightening out his robes as he looked around. So many familiar faces, most of which he hasn't spoken with last year.

"Umm... hi... I'm Alex." They may or may not know that, thanks to classes. Particularly that one time he sat on a chair that broke in front of everyone in Charms. Which everyone forgot about. Right?

Maligaya Magen

Gaya was in the middle of taking a bite of her toast when Alex came up to their group, glancing up at the blond. She gave a small smile at his introduction, kicking at the bench in front of her. "Hey, Alex, how was your summer?" she asked happily, nodding for him to take the seat. Of course she remembered Alex, but not from that incident in Charms class (that she totally remembered because she was there for it), but it was because he was one of her housemates and Gaya tried to at least remember them, if no one else.

Bradie Jephson

Bradie was back at Hogwarts and she couldn't wait. "How is everyone?" she asked as she sat down. "I missed you all."

Caoilainn Joyce

Cate gave no flacks about the dress code policies or checks of one @Ethan Smith, who was some kind of Important StudentTM or something.  Not that she was keeping up with that sort of gossip.  The academic kind was always boring.

That, however, was not the point.  The point was that she had festooned her uniform with a glittery green tie instead of the standard one, given up her plain black shoes for pink high tops, and pulled her rainbow socks all the way up to her knees.  Clearly, no flacks were being given.

The Slytherin flopped into a seat near Bradie and popped a piece of bacon into her mouth, Frank's head popping up out of the bag at her side.  @Honorine Nott would be pleased to discover he was, once again, attending classes with them instead of lurking in her closet and trying to eat her pillows.

"You know we had class with you all last year, yeah?" she asked Alex, cocking her head curiously to one side.  "And you won that tournament thingy.  You're like...King of the Year or something."  Nope.  No academic gossip at all.

Eleanor Malverne

Eleanor was looking and being perfect as usual. It was hard, sometimes, to be so amazing, but someone had to do it.  And Eleanor was happy to rise to the occasion. Really.

Honestly she was a humanitarian

She glided into the Great Hall, followed by her retinue of invisible admirers, and immediately made a beeline for the cluster of newly christened second years at one of the tables.

It was time for her community service.

"Hello everyone," she greeted the group, positively floating into a seat. She gave a courteous nod in @Alexander Crow's direction. She held a grudging respect for the boy, seeing as he had defeated a fourth year to become the Dueling Champion. "Are we all feeling prepared for the start of term? I hope everyone did their homework." She said this in the tone of someone who had most definitely done and revised their homework three times. Concern was a gift easy to give from lofty heights.

humanitarian.

Nico Pichardo

Nico was eyeing Gaya's toast because he hadn't smothered his in anything yet when everyone seemed to show up at once. "Hungry.. or great, I guess." He responded, maybe a little too slowly @Bradie Jephsonquestion of how everyone was before mumbling a hello to the others around a bite.

Ralph Digby Hamilton

Ralph trundled into the Great Hall, five-foot-five and still growing rapidly. He spied a group of his yearmates all sitting together and heaped up a plate full of food BEFORE making his way over to where they all sat. Flashes of glitter and color caught his eye as he joined them and he smiled at @Caoilainn Joyce. "Your socks are awesome."

Plunking his plate full of food down on the table, he took a slightly large spot next to @Nico Pichardo and dropped his bag, heavy with dinosaurs behind him. It flopped over and dinosaurs spilled everywhere. Honestly, it was something of a miracle they'd allowed him back at Hogwarts at all, given the number of Ts he'd received the year before and the complete lack of progress he'd made in actually learning and remembering spells.

Taking a huge bite of eggsbaconsausagebagelspancakessyrupwaffles, he tried to remember what his mom always said about chewing first, then swallowing, THEN talking. "Hi guys! Glad to be back, huh? I know I am. Hogwarts is so much cooler than Weymouth." Badum-chhh

Another giant bite of disgusting mash of breakfast. Chew. Swallow. "You guys ready for class this year? I bet second year will be great."

Pali Dotchev

Pali had squeezed herself in between Alex and one of the others. Quiet and distracted for only a moment while she concentrated on pouring her cereal, tongue sticking out and eyes focused on the bowl and the milk as she did so. As she plunged a spoon into the bowl, causing some milk to go flying through the air anyway she looked up now realising that the group had filled out around them.

"Oh! Hai everyone!" Looking around at them all she gave them a wide grin, Eyes lingering on @Caoilainn Joyce's sparkly green tie for longer than it should have. "Hey where did you get that Cate I'd really like one. It's very pretty" Happily she began to over-eagerly spoon her cheerios into her gob with little care for further spillages.

As @Eleanor Malverne started talking about homework she ducked her eyes. She had made am attempt, but probably didn't do as well as she should have IE she had made @Pascha Dotchev do it for her where she could. Though she wouldn't dwell on that. Pausing for only a moment she gave @Nico Pichardo a brief grin before looking to @Ralph Digby Hamilton "Hi Ralph. Classes should be fun. I wonder will we have any different teachers.."

Sabine Frost

A second-year.

Sabine reflected on the fact as she headed from her dormitory and down to the Great Hall for breakfast.

Foolishly (no, very, very, very foolishly) she’d agreed to her parents’ wishes to extend her social network this year. She had a best friend (at least in her eyes) and she firmly believed Elewyn was of the same opinion. And she’d spoken to a number of other students last term, but few (if any) could be truly classified as friends. Most gladly interacted with her once and then…never again.

So, she decided the best place to startb was with her own yearand made a mental pledge to herself to start as she meant to go on. So, she tagged along with the self-proclaimed ‘Breakfast Club’ (the pop-culture reference lost on a young witch that had never watched TV in her life). She knew Alex attended. And believed Pali did too. She’d studied with the former and duelled with both.

In fact, breakfast was her favourite meal of the day. Mostly because it was one she could actually enjoy – loving toast and gladly drinking hot chocolate. Of course, it was made special by a friendly House Elf that ensured she had a pot of Marmite to complement her meal.

Alex grabbed two chocolate croissants and a few pieces of bacon as he settled on a seat, returning @Eleanor Malverne's nod with a small smile. He muffled a chuckle as Pali splashed a few drops of milk (some of which managed to fly on his sleeve) and offered her his second croissant before turning his attention to the rest of the group.

"Summer was great!" He said to @Maligaya Magen, almost tempted to mention the whole teddy bear incident, but decided he didn't want to get laughed at so early in the year. He wouldn't be surprised if Gaya has seen him walking around with Mr. Bearington last year, they shared a common room after all.  "How was yours?"

Alex blushed at @Caoilainn Joyce's remark. "Uh yes... classes--I was there." He didn't expect people to keep track of his tournament win, though it did seem like there were a hundred pairs of eyes judging him watching the games last year. Her next comment caught him off guard, making him cough halfway through his mouthful of croissant. "M-me? Ha, I wish..." He was more of a court jester really, if he keeps sitting on breakable chairs.

Just then, Sabine joined the group. Alex gave her a small wave, making a mental note to go compare study notes later.

· ·WEEK TWO

Pali had mastered braiding her hair over the summer. Barely. It was a little messy, but apart from the few odds strands of hair, it was back off of her face. And for that she was proud. She had gotten up early to allow for the extra time to braid her hair, the fact that she had managed it in only a few minutes had worked in her favour and she was early at breakfast.

Probably for the best with the sneaky mood she was in today. Over the summer she had hung out in the Sinclair household a few times. She had conveniently been there when @Maggie Sinclair had been doing clear outs of some of her old stuff. Pali had used it to her advantage. Hoarding a few cropped 'belly tops' and hiding them away for later. But her most prized find had been some old tubes of lipglosses. She had managed to keep them hidden them away from Pascha and Tilly all summer, but now it was her time to shine.

After a quick stop in to the bathroom to use the mirror, she had entered the Great Hall with great glossy pink lips. And she was very pleased. Pali assumed she looked wonderful. Like all the big girls on the internet who looked amazing with make up. She didn't entirely realise that with her messy hair and big shiny pink lips she looked more like a little girl playing dress up.

But for now she waited for all  her friends to come and eat breakfast with her  realise how fabulous she looked.

Rory Winchester

Rory stared over at the Slytherin table at Pali Dotchev's extremely fabulous hair. It was so pretty, and so shiny, and Rory couldn't keep her eyes off it. She tried, repeatedly, to stop looking at it, but she couldn't.

"Hey," she said to @Margot du Courtois, "Can you do your hair like that? It's sooooo shiiiiiny."

Rory liked pretty things, and that girl was pretty. Her hair, that was. Her hair was pretty.

Alex was starving. There was something about a late night of doing homework that makes one hungry the next morning. His stomach wanted to gooey chocolate chip cookies, but he knew it was a bit premature for that. The house elves don't make those things until after 10 or something. Probably so kids like himself wouldn't be bouncing off the walls so early in the morning. Killjoys.

The Great Hall was starting to get crowded when he walked in, and Alex instantly looked around for anyone he knew. He spotted Pali, whom he almost didn't recognize with her new look. "Hi Pali!" He waved, sitting next to the slytherin. "You look very nice!" After giving Rory a small smile, the ravenclaw grabbed a plate and started heaping it with bacon, eggs, and toast. This should tide him over before the cookies are made.

Sabine Frost

Week two of the term and Sabine’s plan was partially successful. On the positive side, she was sitting with different people on a daily basis, and often amongst her second-year peers.

So, a big tick in that particular box.

One the less than entirely positive side, she was not interacting with them as such – beyond a smile and an occasional wave or ‘hello.’ This was proving tougher than she initially imagined – way harder.

If she could stretch to another positive, she’d discovered she liked chocolate muffins. Quite a lot in fact, and often took one (or two) with her for a snack – especially when she was flying, which definitely required more energy than her usual lessons did.

"My hair is already perfect," she rolled her eyes at @Rory Winchester and sighed, "besides, I don't do my hair. I have people do it for me."

· · TERM TWO WEEK ONE

Pali had enjoyed being home for Christmas. But now she was back with a new deep seated anger. Since the Wireless broadcast a few days prior to them returning she hadn't stopped crying. All of those people who had been bitten. And this mean lady on the radio had outted them all.

All her friends. Especially Jack. She cried the most for @Jaxon Sinclair. Though bit by bit they had turned to angry tears. If she wasn't so small and inexperienced she would seek Trudy out and inflict a lot of harm on her. But Pali was only 13 years old and had to go back to school. That scuppered that plan. Though @Maggie Sinclair seemed ready to beat people up. And Pali would defintiely try to help with that. Even if she was scared, of everything.

It was the first morning back at school. Today she sat at the Ravenclaw table, waiting for her friends to join her so she could suss out everyone's feeling on the whole Werewolf matter. Anxiously he picked at some dry cereal she'd put in a bowl, not that she was hungry. She was just too excited as per usual.

Salomé Schiferli

Salomé outed herself out as a werewolf which was odd. First, she wasn't one, second of she never expected herself to do something like that. Apparently you live and you learn. After talking to @Aggie Price and @Shiloh Paige she kind of had a plan set in action which may work. It was a lot of work, but Salomé had a feeling it would be worth it in the long run, as long as her friends (If they were friends) and classmates weren't suffering it was worth it.

Making it down to the table, Salomé took a seat and she spotted Pali. She remembered her call in to Trudy and it was-- interesting to say the least. Grabbing a piece of toast, Salomé took a bite and hummed. "Pali." She said coolly eyeing the girl suspiciously. "Did you have a nice break?"
