Turned into a real sticky situation

Emory Kettleburn

Everything was ready to go. He grinned as he stood by his best friend for what they had planned to do over the summer when Emory had been staying over at Tarquin's. It was their first opportunity to do something during sorting because of course, they couldn't exactly do anything last year when they were on the other ends of those doors.

This year, they had gone in horseless carriages though Emory was pretty sure they had to be pulled by something. Just what that was, he didn't know yet.

"Shall we get this party started?" he spoke looking at Tarquin, a devilish grin on his face.

Tarquin couldn’t wait. Emory had stayed at his house for most of the summer and that had meant that the two second years had had ample time to plan pranks for the year. They had come up with something that they deemed absolutely awesome and they couldn’t wait to put it into effect. They had planned for everything and if they got caught, they would deploy The Puppy Eyes. It would all go smoothly, though. He hoped that they wouldn’t have to use The Puppy Eyes.

When they had gotten off of the carriages, they had rushed to the Great Hall and that was where they currently stood. The Ravenclaw looked at the Slytherin, a grin spreading across his face. “We shall,” he said with a nod. And then they were off.

Emory went to the Slytherin table first. They had divided up both the house tables and then were going to proceed to the staff table together. He grinned to himself as he started spreading the invisible magical glue on the floor.

It was something they had picked up at Weasley's Wizard Wheezes of course. Where else would you get magical, invisible sticky glue?

He just had to be careful not to get any on himself. Or his shoes for that matter.

And they had to be quick and sly if they were going to pull this off.

When Tarquin and Emory had gone in Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes over the summer, Tarquin had barely been able to contain himself. He had actually cried for a few moments behind a display of punching telescopes because it had all been so beautiful. So when they had come across the magical, invisible glue, he had nearly lost it completely. It was extremely sticky and magic was the only way to get rid of it. He actually wasn’t sure what spell was meant to be used as most spells would make the glue stick more. He didn’t care about getting rid of it, though.

He rushed over to the Ravenclaw and Gryffindor tables since those were the ones he had gotten. He took the tubs of the glue and opened one, dumping it right under the benches all along both sides of both tables. He was being extra careful because he could not get any on himself. That would ruin the plot!

a few minutes later . . .

"Can't wait to see how this goes," he whispered to Tarquin as they wandered into the Great Hall along with everyone else, save of course, for the first years who had yet to be sorted.

Unfortunately, Emory wouldn't be able to sit with Tarquin at the Ravenclaw table so they could whisper and make fun of people who got themselves in a "sticky" situation. Sigh. Oh well.

Instead, Emory reluctantly took a seat at the Slytherin table at one of the ends where he had purposefully left without glue so that he would be able to sit down and leave with no consequences.

“I know!” he whispered back to Emory as they reentered the Great Hall with everyone else besides the first years. He grinned at his friend and gave a wave as he went to sit at the Ravneclaw table. He couldn’t remember where he had left a spot without glue so he got on his seat carefully, keeping his feet away from under the bench and around it. He was pretty sure he was around the spot where he had left an opening but he couldn’t be too careful. He would just be slow getting up was all.

It was worth it, though. He tried to keep himself from smiling too much but it was hard. He hoped that this wouldn’t get back to his parents but considering they knew Headmaster Weasley and Aura… they would probably hear about it. He would just have to tell them that pranking was a part of him. That would definitely work. He looked around to see if anyone had noticed anything yet. He’d worry about punishments later. Or never.

This is now open!
