WE DID IT GUYS! *throws more confetti since apparently that's my thing now* Thanks to everyone's amazing help and information contributions, the Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade databases are officially launched and put into their new homes. Thank you to Weasley for all your administrative work in accomplishing that task. But it's not done yet! I want to begin taking suggestions or contributions on the following areas to continue adding details. Other points of interest I would like to add a post in the mix describing some of these non-shop points of interest in each shopping destination. These are primarily considered to be landmarks, such as Gringott's or Knockturn Alley in the Diagon Alley forum topic, or the Post Office and Shrieking Shack in the Hogsmeade forum topic. Are there any that are not currently listed in the first post of each topics that you think would be a good addition? Are there any specific pertinent details that you think would be good to add? Other shops Oh man guys, it's time to finally submit your Alumni-created shops and street vendors! Please refer to the last post in each of the Databases on directions on submitting these (Hogsmeade [here] and Diagon Alley [here]). You can either post the form in this thread here or you can PM it to me separately. I do want to make some points clear before you submit these, though. If you submit this information to be included, you are giving your permission to anybody to godmod your shop and your character. Don't submit something if you are not comfortable with this fact. We will encourage people using tags for these shops to contact you if they have any questions and we encourage you to contact them right back about participating! But you must always get permission from the original poster first, unless the thread is already marked #open. If you would like to add any of your Alumni as employees into the existing main shops, please let me know and we can discuss it. In efforts to be in compliance with any and all copyright laws, we are trying to avoid using celebrity images that may have copyright restrictions associated with them. If you would like an image included with your character's shop, please find an option on a site that complies with this. I personally found a lot of success on Pexels and Unsplash, but if you find a different one that needs to have the credit added, please let me know. In addition, if there are any glaring errors, misspellings, or grammar that sounds dumb on any of the database posts, please let me know. I'm not a professional editor, so I wouldn't be surprised I missed something silly.

I'd like to see some more Herbology related items that I could give away as prizes for students (gillyweed is too expensive for a prize): mimbulus mimbletonia, leaping toadstools, flitterbloom, bubotuber, mandrakes, shrivelfigs, etc.

I'm fairly certain I said this somewhere else but I'll say it again. I'd like to see dueling clothing similar to what Lockhart wore to the dueling club meeting in the 2nd movie. (Or if you wanted more examples, similar to traditional fencing attire: quilted waistcoat/jacket, knee length trousers, knee stockings, gloves). These would be nice in house colors, but a nice regulation black with grey accents for Hogwarts works too. I'd also like to see general athletic gear that fits the Hogwarts uniform dress code. In my head canon it looks a bit like what was worn in the hunger games, possibly also in house colors. Mainly I just can't imagine students doing what I tell them to while wearing robes.

A phoenix pet for the Magical Menagerie? I'm sure it would cost like 100 galleons or something, but still.

What about more credentials for alumni jobs? Obviously we can't do every job ever but the ones that would have a badge (healer, mediwitch/wizard, maybe even Quidditch players...) would be cool. Getting a character to alumni is a lot of work and then getting to see that accomplishment in a credential on their profile would be awesome.

Now, if you want to talk about a cool wizard multi-tool that has 100 different screwdrivers and magnifying glasses and nail files all magicked into one little thumb-sized contraption...then that might be an idea that we could entertain. <---THIS. Avery would just about die for this, please. Butterbeer? I love the stuffed toys of each house idea. An update broomstick collection of possible, maybe even just one new broom?

Just to be clear, guys... There will not be any Muggle weapons added into the shops, including pocket knives. Schools generally forbid the possession of weapons while in session and Hogwarts is no exception. Besides, you're all magical and have magical powerful wands that can do cutting and more. Why would you even want a little, inefficient blade??? Now, if you want to talk about a cool wizard multi-tool that has 100 different screwdrivers and magnifying glasses and nail files all magicked into one little thumb-sized contraption...then that might be an idea that we could entertain.

THIS As a person who hands out knives on the regular I would very much like this! Edit: I would love some Wizard Tech items - like the iWiz etc..

^Seconded I know this was debated in the past, but I'd also like to see a few more Quidditch teams represented in the shops. Especially with the recent DP news reports involving some of them, it seems weird to not have some listed. Let people cheer for the Chudley Cannons pls Other ideas: More pet options? I'm looking at cats specifically because I know I'm not the only one to have a Norwegian Forest Cat and it would feel weird to just grab one of the other types when that's not a proper representation of that little monster Updated broom types? (doubt Nimbus would stay put at a 2001 this far into the future) Maybe stuffed toys representing the houses? Who wouldn't want a stuffed lion, badger, bird, or snake? :x

Personally through the years we have made the VH canon impliments: iWiz and newly the MageLight I would love to see them spark up on the shops. iWiz ; A music player of some sort, it was known as the wixing world's answer to the iPod. MageLight : a single book that contains other books in it, the wixing world's answer to the Kindle/Kindle Fire Adding more in: Hugging Blankets: Basically a blanket that hugs you Pocket knives: Because they get given out so often and are generally useful Accessories: Like more jewelry things

Getting the shops back has been so exciting! While we're still working on being able to add new items, it does not hurt to start getting prepared for when that coding is finished! This topic is to leave suggestions and to brainstorm possible additions into the shops. You can be as vague or as specific about your wish list or ideas as you would like. Let's get our creative juices flowing!

Thanks so much for everyone's suggestions so far! I've been able to use almost all of them. I did tweak a few things here and there with descriptions and will be adding all the contributor's names to the threads for well-deserved credit. You also never know what other prizes may be coming your way at some point...;) You can check out the progress at both of these threads: Diagon Alley Database & Hogsmeade Database. As you can see, we're making great progress and I'd love for you all to keep contributing ideas for these NPCs since all the submissions have been so amazing so far. Some options to help out with inspiration: 1. I always love collecting unique names that I think would fit well into the HP universe. You can use any of these (or parts of these!) as inspiration if you would like. Elmer Banks | Rex Onions | Nathaniel Flewett | Garfield Higgs | Huxley Prouse Piers Winsloe | Hugh Eldridge | Lamar Lyttle | Lenny Trulock | Norris Wanefell Angus Biddlecombe | Evita Prouse | Brittania Triggs | Sonia Beale 2. Does your character have a relative that you would be willing to allow others to godmod? An aunt or uncle, older sibling, third cousin...there are a lot of options! We would also be willing to accept Alumni who want to offer themselves up. Just remember two things: first, we are currently only accepting these for the main shops listed in the databases; OC shops will be a later submission. Second, if you volunteer your own character, you will be subject to being godmodded by others. Let me know if anyone has any questions!

*throws confetti* Weasley, you and everyone else did all the hard work for me in my absence. I should take Sabbaticals more often (no I should not) Harmony, I'm working on getting the Diagon Alley thread set up as long as I don't break the nice coding Snape created for the Hogsmeade one. I will also be inputting all the submissions received thus far for canon shops. Once these get all sorted, we can begin accepting submissions for all everyone's beautiful original content for other businesses/attractions located in these two primary regions.

Thank you, Harmony! Sorry I haven't had a chance to get the Diagon Alley topic up yet, but that should happen soon. @Vulpus is going to take over coordinating this project from me from here on, but I'll be checking in. Thanks so much for your help everyone! (And welcome back, Vulpus!)

Hog's Head: Liam Blakely Liam was practically raised at the Hog's Head, as his mum Charlotte was a waitress while he was growing up. She recently retired, so he took over her place, and is now learning the ropes of being a waiter. He's of average height and build with dusty brown hair. Liam is young, but friendly and still figuring out everything, so he might slip up your order from time to time. When approached, Liam will do his best to serve you properly and engage in idle chit-chat if it is a slow time. When it is busy, Liam is focused on doing his job accurately so he won't engage in much chatter. Madam Puddifoot's: Magnolia Everly: A fresh graduate of Beauxbatons, Magnolia is attempting to build a new life abroad, waiting tables at Madam Puddifoots to make ends meet as she pursues professional Quidditch and modeling careers. She is a slender, tall woman with strawberry-blonde hair. When greeted, she'll direct you to your table and allow you as much time as needed to get your order ready. She's also prepared to quietly give some advice to teenagers on their first dates if she senses they're nervous. Three Broomsticks: (I've expanded on these slightly) ??????? "????" ????? (???) - MANAGER Born and raised in Hogsmeade, squib Babs and her husband Sarbjit can be seen in Three Broomsticks, occasionally treating young students and people that look sad to free food. Moves slowly. If approached, Babs will gladly engage in conversation about the day's gossip, or whatever is going on in her life between her group of friends. ????? ????????? (??) - SERVER Friendly and efficient, Idris creates the most amazing environment and loves making people smile. Will sometimes be found playing with his daughter. When greeted, he'll make sure that your needs are met before going on to the other customers. He'll check in on you every so often to make sure your group is doing alright, and give updates on the latest Quidditch match or chat about the weather. Weasley's Wizard Wheezes: *Here's an additional character if Raymond doesn't get back to you: Gilly Gastrell Formerly a Gryffindor during her time at Hogwarts, Gilly is a retired woman, around 76 years old. She refused to do nothing after her storied career as one of the wizarding world's finest hit-witches, so she finally settled down working at WWW. Gilly is happy to pass down her years of wisdom in pranking to you if you approach her, or give you advice if you want to get into Magical Law Enforcement. Occasionally, Gilly will demonstrate products in the shop, leading to random points of chaos.

Help With: Virtual Hogwarts: A History

I’m def down to help write up some summaries! I can also go back and submit some random things for each year, I dunno how useful they will be but I will look this weekend.

Help With: Virtual Hogwarts: A History

I'll help you write some summaries. I posted some links awhile ago in some of the threads... do you need us to repost them? I can't see them (obviously) so I wanted to make sure. Should mention I posted the links as alters lol. So if you're looking for posts from Miss Turner there won't be any.
  25. Hi friends, Virtual Hogwarts: A History is missing a few chapters, and you can help! Task 1: Please save me from methodically back-reading two RL years worth of RPs, and go post your favorite threads from VH34 to the present in the submission threads in the vanishing closet. VH38 VH37 VH36 VH35 VH34 Was it your #senioryear? The beginning of a sweet romance? An epic mass thread that deserves to go down in history? Slugs? Trampolines? Dragon Rage? These years included the Hogwarts Tournament of Champions and the Triwizard Tournament, so I’m sure there are lots of memorable and favorite threads floating around. VH: A History, just like VH itself, has room for both the silly and the serious, so please go send in your suggestions! Task 2: Once we have some threads to work with, we’ll write up the chapters. If you’re interested in helping to write, drop a note in this thread or by PM. I’ll be in touch with some notes and (probably) a google doc for us to work with once the quidditch season gets underway. Thank you in advance, Callahan

Do we have a thread for Diagon Alley up yet? Here's some for Dervish and Banges: The Hansons are a young couple who recently took up ownership of the shop as a family business. Holly Hanson: A former Ravenclaw, Holly likes to spend more time in the back shop fixing things than in the actual shop dealing with people. Holly's passion is for fixing magical objects. She's an expert in custom items, and will be more than willing to speak with you about a new faceplate for your custom sneakoscope or other sorts of objects. Holly is a young woman with bright red hair. Gregory Hanson: A former Hufflepuff. Hobby duelist and husband to Holly. Gregory is the face of the shop. He'll work with you to find out exactly what you want, and if you need to go back to Holly to get your true desire. Gregory is also watching their toddler daughter, Lila, and their trouble-making Niffler, Noodles. He is a young, stout man with curly hair and a long beard.
