Following the brutal murders of the Rees family, noted conservative activists Michael and Insley Jacobin have successfully pushed the ministry to enforce existing laws on the books that ban part-vampires from owning wands. Those part-vampires who own wands have been asked to surrender them by February 1, 2042.
“There are almost no details that have been publicly released about the tragic deaths of the Rees family, let alone any to suggest that they would have been spared if their servants didn’t have wands,” said Amortentia Bloodfang, founder of the part-vampire advocacy group B.L.O.O.D. “This law should have been stripped from the books centuries ago. To enforce it now plays directly into the hands of those who believe that part-vampires should be feared. We are no different than any other wizard.”
When reached for comment, the Jacobins released a joint statement about the success of the pressure campaign. “We’re relieved that the ministry was able to see that this is an important safety measure for preventing another attack like that on the Rees family of Gwaed.”
The Office of the Minister did not respond when reached for comment.
