PHP Announcements

All PHP News will be posted here!
Please check back often so you don't miss anything!

. . .Mrs. Blithe and I are very pleased to announce the total renovation of Pre-Hogwarts Primary! Many long-time VH'ers have offered feedback on how to make PHP even better--more beneficial to new VH'ers, and a different, hopefully exciting experience for everyone involved! Be sure to check out our new Welcome to Pre-Hogwarts Primary for full details.

. . .There have been some major changes to the Syllabus this year; check here to find a list of quick links to lessons. Each lesson is designed to be packed to the gills with information--mostly Out of Character stuff--that we felt would be especially useful to newer members learning their way around the site. There is a required homework portion and an extra credit portion for each lesson, neither of which you will find to be too demanding no matter how long you've been on VH.

. . .Instead of letter grades, we are now giving Participation Certificates. That means you get something shiny for your profile even if you just start your Workbook then decide PHP is not for you... but we hope that doesn't happen! <33

. . .In an effort to keep things more concise, there has been some reorganization of links and info that you will find in the pinned threads. If you have a question, check the pinned threads first! We're happy to answer questions in the PHP Questions & Answers as well, and will add to the informational threads if someone comes up with something important we missed!

. . .Last but certainly not least, we are pleased to announce the first Pre-Hogwarts Primary Internship mentoring program... much more on this in the next announcement!

. . .We hope to see lots of bright, smiling faces this year (fine, some scowling, disinterested ones would be okay, too!), so please take a look around the PHP Forum and consider enrolling your presort!

. . .Huge love and thanks to all the professors and staff who have offered feedback to help with this endeavor, and of course to Miss Katie Bell and Mr. & Mrs. Valentein for giving PHP such a wonderful start and their years of dedicated service. We couldn't have done this without you. <33 Contributors
To avoid excess clutter, we will periodically start a new thread when this reaches a few pages, and start the new thread with the last announcement of the old one.

PHP Prefect Mentoring Program

. . . A notice is tacked on the classroom corkboard with oversized, star-shaped pushpins that sparkle a little more enthusiastically than is necessary:

PHP Prefect Mentors - VH24

. . .The following Hogwarts students have been invited to Pre-Hogwarts Primary on an internship designed to provide mentoring to Pre-Hogwarts Students:

Gryffindor House

  • Cayden Harlow Murray - Seventh Year
  • Myfanwy Elphinstone - Sixth Year
  • Reece Pendleton - Fifth Year

Hufflepuff House

  • Adalynn Mercer - Alumnus
  • Renee Katz - Alumnus
  • Archer Smith - Sixth Year
  • Kristen Dorland - Sixth Year

Ravenclaw House

  • Lily Allstar - Sixth Year
  • Petronilla Quirke - Sixth Year

Slytherin House

  • Finlay Barclay - Alumnus
  • Andromeda Midnight - Seventh Year
  • Mortimer Nece - Sixth Year
  • Silvia Banagher - Sixth Year

. . .Pre-Hogwarts Students are reminded to always be as courteous and respectful to their mentors as they would with their own parents, instructors, and professors, (here, "AND assistant instructors" is crammed in between the otherwise neatly-written lines of the notice).

. . .Remember to thank your mentors for their time! They are all here because they want to help prepare you for Hogwarts.

VH23 Grades and Prizes

. . . VH23 Grades have been posted and prizes are awarded!

. . . The prize list has been changed somewhat this year, as below. We have decided to give prize packages that are more geared toward your classes, with more variety than simply something with your House colors. We hope you will enjoy them!

. . . If you got an EE or higher, you should see designations in parentheses as below next to your grade. Please check your shop to accept your items!

{One} Mini Potions Master Package (MPM)

[Only ONE awarded PER YEAR to the First Person to Complete their Workbook with an O++ Grade]

O++ - Set of Textbooks, Cauldron, Potions Kit, Mortar & Pestle

{Two} Literary Scholar Package (LS)

O++ - Set of Textbooks, Hogwarts: A History, a Lockhart Book, and either a Quid, Beedle the Bard, Andie Kennedy OR Trista Truelove book

O+ - Hogwarts: A History, A Lockhart Book, and either a Quid, Beedle the Bard, Andie Kennedy OR Trista Truelove book

O - A Lockhart Book, and either a Quid, Beedle the Bard, Andie Kennedy OR Trista Truelove book

EE - A Lockhart book

{Three} Studious Scholar Package (SS)

O++ - Set of Textbooks, Astronomical Model, Random Ink, Random Quill, and Random Stationery

O+ - Astronomical Model, Random Ink, Random Quill, and Random Stationery

O - Random Ink, Random Quill, and Random Stationery

EE - Random Quill

. . . If there is a problem with the items you received such as you didn't receive all/some that you should, or say you got two quills instead of a quill and a stationery set, or two Lockhart books, PM Miss Astrid McManus or Mrs Blithe to straighten it out. (Hopefully everything's fine, but there were quite a lot of items to send out!) And if there is a problem with your workbook link, grade, name, etc. please also PM one of us and we'll fix it.

. . . Also, there's no reason why some people received the Studious Scholar & some the Literary Scholar packages. They are very similar in price, and we just wanted to mix things up a bit, so that not every first year was starting Hogwarts with the exact same shop items.

. . . There may be changes to next year's prize list, but those will be announced if they occur; we expect to change some things around to accommodate the new certificate system.

. . . Enjoy your prizes, those who were eligible, and thank you ALL for participating in Pre-Hogwarts Primary! We hope you enjoyed yourself, and that you will consider participating with a future alter!

A couple of your PHP Mentors, Cayden & Adalynn, have started a game of Duck, Duck, Goose! in Crystal Fountain Park! Go ahead & join them & maybe win a prize!

Any questions can be directed to Cayden or Adalynn, and the thread will be open all of Term One, unless another game is started, so don't worry about joining late, or missing out!

Some news!

First, if you missed the note edited in the Homework/Workbook Info, we're asking that once you complete your workbook and have no more edits to be made, please note that you are finished in your final post. We know the pain of wanting to keep your lessons in numerical order, so this will help us grade and keep us from having to go back to check for edits if you want to make a placeholder post, or finish EC later. (y)

Second, I'm pleased to announce that there is now a Lunch and Recess thread to give you some new RP ideas! When you sign up for an open thread group or anytime, you are invited to choose one or more options for your RP. We hope you'll check out the ideas there, and if you have any to add let us know! And here you thought summer school would be boring. :P

Third, Mrs Blithe and I want to sincerely thank all of you who have participated so far! Your workbooks and RPs have been a pleasure to read, and I've laughed aloud many times reading them. (I assure you, I can see perfectly well, Mr. Montain. I've got my eye on you.) We'd like to know if you are enjoying yourselves, and if there's anything we can do to continue improving upon PHP we want to know about it! Please visit our Feedback thread and consider posting or PM'ing as much or as little, as often or as infrequently as you like. <3333

Last but not least, if you haven't posted in the Duck, Duck, Goose game, make sure you do as there are still plenty of prizes to be won! There's a handy link in the post right above this one!

With the End of VH23 quickly approaching, this year's PHP is also coming to an end. QQ
We hope you've all enjoyed the new PHP system

There's still about two months left till the Sorting, and you've got till the Friday before then to finish up your PHP Workbooks! Also, don't forget to post in our Feedback Thread if there's anything you'd like to let us know about your experience with PHP this year <3

Now for the fun stuff!
We've just finished organizing a Pinata Party for everyone, and a place you can commemorate or commiserate with your fellow classmates for years to come about how you Survived PHP! So be sure to check them both out! <333

THE SORTING FORM IS UP, THE SORTING FORM IS UUUPPPPP!!

*flails happily* So excited for you guys, especially for those of you doing this for the first time! :D

Just a reminder to get your workbooks wrapped up in the next couple weeks before Sorting so we can get everything graded and the forum tidied up for next year's class. Also, see Mrs. Blithe's post above and please consider adding your autograph to the wall and/or offering feedback.

If you are doing any extra credit where you held off to add a link to a RP, make sure you edit in your link into your workbook for full credit.

Also, if you wish to include the link to your Sorting Ceremony post once it's up, don't forget to edit it in. (This is NOT required for Lesson 9 assignment/EC credit).

Have fun with your Sorting Forms!! <33333

VH24 is almost here & the Sorting Ceremony is just around the corner!

Which means, workbooks are due! We know they are supposed to be closed as of tomorrow, but because of the downtime last weekend, we're going to give you until this Sunday night, Sept 2nd, to finish them all up.

And don't forget to get your sorting forms in! The form closes exactly one week from tomorrow, on Sept 7th!

If you haven't already spotted it, Olliver Tavella has invited you all to join a Talent Show Thread!

There are no prizes for participating, it's just for fun... however, good news for anyone who wanted to get Lesson 5 Extra Credit, but find themselves running out of time! We will allow your post in the Talent Show count for EC, if you haven't gotten it already. ;)

Plus, it's a great opportunity to meet a couple more friends before Sorting, so take advantage and consider asking someone you see in the thread for a future RP!

Have fun!! And thank you, Olliver, for setting up what is sure to be a fun RP opportunity!

ONLY TWO DAYS LEFT! GET THOSE SORTING FORMS IN! <3

For anyone already planning on sorting a VH25, please do not start your workbooks yet. We're going to be moving the lessons and doing some minor rewrites and possibly editing some of the homework & extra credit, so it would really stink if you have to redo some lessons because we've changed them on you!

We'll make an announcement once VH24 is officially sorted so that the VH25s can begin their workbooks. That will probably be posted sometime late Sunday Night, so everyone has time to enjoy the sorting.

And I finally have a night off, so the Lessons WILL be disappearing tonight. Anyone who is still finishing up their workbooks should try to do so quickly, because the lessons should be disappearing within an hour or so. And the workbooks will probably be moving to the Records Cabinet sometime tonight or tomorrow, so if anyone has any editing left to do, do it quickly!

In case you didn't notice the last update in the Claim Thread, anyone who was still waiting for their Honeyduke's Fudge from Lesson 6 should check their shops. Everyone should have received theirs by now. Please PM me if you didn't, but you should have & I'll fix it for you. <3

ATTENTION CLASS OF VH24!

Grades have been posted here and prizes have been sent out to those with P!, EO, or AA next to their names!

Certificates have NOT been sent out yet. We would like to be certain that our list is accurate before this is done, so please take a look at the note beside your name and make sure you feel this is the certificate you expect. If you believe we may have missed something during grading, please contact Mrs Blithe or Miss McManus by Sunday, September 23 so we may look into it. Certificates will be sent after that date, however please be patient!

A few notes:

1. Only certificates are given IC. Your PHP instructors are not supplying the class with textbooks, nor giving questionable romance novels to eleven-year-olds. So, you may RP getting those things however you please!

2. If the items you got don't match one of the prize packages for your certificate level, you got an extra item, or there is otherwise some mistake, let one of us know.

3. Please also check that your workbook link and the spelling of your character's name are correct, for posterity's sake!

Thanks again for participating in PHP, and we hope you enjoyed yourselves as much as we did!

At long last, certificates have been sent out to the class of VH24! Please check your shop to make sure you have received those you should have.

There were several IPS errors during the sending of these, so make sure you didn't receive a duplicate. Everything seemed to match up so this should not be the case--however, if you received two of one, just accept one and decline the other. Please also send a PM to Mrs Blithe or myself to let us know if you've returned one, or if there is some other problem with what you got, of course. We'll be happy to check into it if you feel there's been a mistake.

Thank you again for participating in PHP, and also for your patience while waiting for your rewards! It was a pleasure having you guys for class, and we wish you all the best in your Hogwarts futures!

I am sure you all have seen by now, but if you did not... the Sorting Form is up! Yay! Can you feel the excitement yet?? Check out our esteemed Headmaster's announcement for all the details!

Workbooks need to be completed by Friday, April 12. Any homework posted after that date will not count towards your grade, so be sure to finish up everything you want to by then! All VH25 workbooks will be moved to the PHP Records Cabinet before VH26 starts.

Grades and prizes will be awarded as soon as possible. Please be patient as we sort out all the details for this; we do not have a set date at this time, but we will post an announcement when it happens. Expect it to be after Sorting, but we'll try not to make you wait too long. ;)

While you're waiting for Sorting, why not sign our "farewell wall," leave us some feedback, or check out Crystal Fountain Park! There are a number of open threads right now, including a maze that looks like a lot of fun!

That's all for now! I'm sure Mrs. Blithe or I will be back with a few more announcements before the official end of PHP, but I'd like to say now for both of us that it's been a pleasure to have all of you for class, and we hope you have enjoyed yourselves.

Class of VH25

Your Graduation Ceremony has been posted, so please feel free to RP there, saying goodbye to your beloved PHP Instructors and claiming your IC Certificates <33

Sorting is in just a couple days now, so Astrid & I hope you've all had a great time here with us this year & have a blast next week with all your Sorting Week Activites! Grades, certificates & prizes will be posted sometime within the next week or so, and we'll post an announcement here when everything's all set, so keep an eye out for that.

If you haven't already had a chance, don't forget to sign our farewell wall or leave us feedback and tell us how we're doing.

Have fun at Hogwarts!

Edit: And for any of you VH26ers looking to start your lessons, they'll be posted by sometime Monday afternoon <3

Class of VH25

Good news... your grades have been posted! Only students who actually Sorted in VH25 will find their names on the list.

Certificates and prizes have NOT been sent out yet, so please be patient while Mrs Blithe and I sort out your rewards. We will post another announcement when that's done.

In the meantime, please check that your name and workbook link are there, and that you agree with your grade. If you feel there may have been a mistake with your grade, feel free to PM one of us and we'll take a look at it for you.

Class of VH25

Check your shops for your certificates and prizes!

We always hope to get your rewards out with no mistakes, but things happen! Just forgive us for being human, and we'll get you fixed up!

The prize packages are listed with your grades (linked in the above post); if there is anything you need clarified about what youshould have received, please consider posting in the PHP Q&A instead of PM'ing us, in case it may help others, too.

If you are MISSING something from your prize tier, other than a LAZY DAISY certificate (see below), PM one of us and we'll sort it out!

Lazy Daisy Certificates: if you feel you should have gotten one and didn't, please click here! Please read my first post there to see if it applies to your situation before posting.

If you received a DUPLICATE item or certificate, including a duplicate of something in your prize tier (ie more books than one Lockhart and one other, or multiple quills), please click Cancel in the shop, or send it back to PHP Gift Account if you already accepted it.

And of course, if you feel there may have been a mistake with your GRADE, PM one of us so we may look into it!

Thank you again, Class of VH25, and all the best to you in your Hogwarts career and beyond!

I'd just like to direct everyone's attention here! PHP is getting more pets this year! You're all welcome to RP your reactions to the news right in that thread, and welcome to RP about them in your Workbook RPs, and any RPs in Crystal Fountain Park.

You're also able to submit name suggestions in that thread, so that we can pick names for them all! We'll close the name suggestions within a week or two, so if you want to add yours, get your RP in quickly!

Come see, come see!

Pet Name Voting has begun, so take a few minutes to RP and vote on names!

Umm... I don't remember that we set a deadline yet so you have some time! Don't wait too long, though--we will announce a close date at some point, so you don't want to be caught without a chance to participate! Right? Right. ;)

If you would like to vote/RP in the Pet Name Voting thread, please don't delay! You have until 8:00 PM EDT on Sunday, July 14, then the polls will close and no votes after that point will count. :)

Thank you to all of our participants thus far!

The Sorting Form has opened, and that means PHP will soon be ending for the year! We'd like you to look at, and to remind you of, a few things.

Check out this announcement for more info:

Announcement - How to get Sorted

PHP Workbooks must be finished one week before Sorting, by September 5. We are making an exception to this, however, for last-minute characters registered on or after that date--if you wish to start your workbook between then and Sorting, we will grade it with the others, contingent upon your character's successful Sorting.

AND DID SOMEONE SAY END OF SUMMER PARTY? I THINK SO!

Regarding VH26 Workbooks:

We've had some questions about the deadline for PHP workbooks, and we have decided to leave them open for grading until the Sorting.

Workbooks will be moved to the PHP Records Cabinet on Sorting Day and after that point, no more grading will be done on them. As there is not a specific time we are planning to move them, we strongly suggest you complete all that you wish to by Saturday. Grades will be posted as soon as possible after Sorting, for everyone who successfully sorted for VH26. (Even if something happens that we can't immediately move them on Sorting Day, no grading will be done after that date.)

As of right now, we expect to keep this schedule for future years... however, please note that we work on grading over the course of the VH year, so the fewer we have to wrap up in the last couple weeks before Sorting, the more quickly we will be able to post grades, and release certificates and prizes. Therefore, when possible, it's preferable that you don't wait until the last minute to complete yours for any future characters. We won't penalize you, of course! It will just be easier and less hectic for us to get things done in a timely manner for you and your classmates, as well as getting the forum ready for the next class. ;)

Thank you, everyone who observed the original deadline, and we hope no one had to rush too much to meet it!

VH26 Workbooks can now be found in the PHP Records Cabinet! Grading was completed on all of them before they were moved, and after the Sorting Ceremony, we'll post grades for everyone who successfully Sorted into VH26. Thank you all for your participation! We'll post an announcement when this is done, so keep an eye out. You are all welcome to post in the graduation ceremony, give feedback, etc. if you wish.

VH27 students, hang tight for now! We are finishing up getting your lessons and stuff ready, they'll be ready to go soon!

ATTENTION CLASS OF VH26!

Certificates and prizes are still in the process of being sent out, so if you have not received any or all of yours yet, don't fret! You should have them very soon, and we will make an announcement when all have gone out! Thank you for your patience, in the meantime!

One thing, however! If you check your shop and notice that you have been sent a duplicate of any item from the PHP Gift Account, OR you have received something you should not have based on your grade, please PM me before accepting the wrong items and let me know what's the mistake. It's come to my attention recently that some items (particularly certificates) cannot be returned the usual way, so if there are any errors I want to make sure it gets taken care of the most appropriate way. We certainly apologize if there have been any mistakes and appreciate your understanding if this has happened to you!

The prize packages are described near the bottom of this post, if you aren't sure what you should get. If everything matches up, you're of course welcome to accept the prizes as soon as you see them in your shop.

Thanks, guys!
