Lindy grinned as she sat at the commentator's booth, excitedly greeting every player that came by her booth. She couldn't quite believe how successful the student quidditch sign ups had been. She gave Damaris a thumbs up before the officials started the game. Oh this was going to be so much fun!

It had been eighty four years since Ollie had last played quidditch so as soon as she had seen the signups for a game get posted on the notice board, the blonde had elbowed people out of the way to get her name on the dotted line. The severe quidditch drought plaguing her life was evident in how she carried herself to the pitch. Her usual gimmicks were gone (okay… she had a couple of firewinks in her pocket on principle but otherwise she was actually fully and correctly equipped for the sport) and she’d even taken the time to paint war paint on her face. This paint was especially glittery and kept clouding her vision, which she was sure wouldn’t be a problem in the near future.

“GET YOUR HEAD IN THE GAMEEEEEE!” She screeched upon kick off, immediately whacking a bludger at Cordelia.

Okay that had felt really good. To finally thwack a bludger after so long! Now she was thirsty for more. She needed to bludger everyone. Everyone! And no one was exempt from her dangerous eye, not even her friends and as Seeley drifted by Ollie found her second target. “I see Desmond is a keeper?!” She called over with a wink before batting the bludger at the Hufflepuff. “Geddit because he’s playing as a keeper and he’s also your boyfriend?”

Gosh she was such a comedic genius.

“Okay I think I’ve gotten it out of my system,” she smiled after hitting two bludgers one after the other, before the other team had even considered the concept of a quaffle. She was sure she’d come to regret it the they retaliated but for now she was on cloud nine.

THERE WAS GOING TO BE A QUIDDITCH GAME. THIS WASN’T A DRILLL. NOT A DRILL. THIS WAS REALLLL.

Ok.

So they had a student run game the last time Quidditch was horribly ripped away from them. But they had an actual pitch to have it in. This was different and Kieran was glad that they would be able to play again. Of course he was going to be on a team with Juan, like, was that any question at all?

The best part was that he had a bat. Kieran swung at the air, trying to look impressive, in case @Fern Blackburn was looking his way. Though speaking of it, it seemed like within moments she was already in danger. “I got youuu!” Kieran grinned and tried to look his best when knocking the bludger away.

One bludger down and Fern was free from harm. Not that he didn’t think she could hold her own or anything. It was just he had a bat and she did not. It would have been epic if she had a bat. They could have been an epic beater duo, causing doom across the pitch. Though he supposed he had his bro Juan for that day. “Nice one.” He nodded approvingly as Juan aimed the bludger he hit towards the other team.

“Oh snap” Kieran let out as Juan let out a sick burn towards Kaleb. Though Kieran was still pretty chill with the guy. Sorta. Last year’s Slytherin vs Gryffindor game was a bit wild. Kieran was totally blaming Kaleb for the team detention they got.

Anyways, he freed up a another bludger so Juan could do this thang.

This was honestly very strange to him. Here he was, playing Quidditch with people that he normally played against. If anything, instinct kept trying to take over and he wanted to send a bludger towards Cordelia, for instance. She was on his team now. It felt odd. At least the other little first years were Slytherins and that base instinct wasn’t directed at them.

He looked towards Kieran, trying to see what his bro was doing before rolling his eyes as the other ended up playing knight in shining armour to Fern. Who he was also unhappy about having on his team.

Whatever. At least it freed up a bludger to be sent towards… “HEY @Kaleb Kennedy!” he yelled, “HEARD YOU CONFESSED YOUR LITTLE HEART OUT TO DAMARIS AND SHE TURNED YOU DOWN. THAT MUST SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK.” Delia was really just collateral damage.

Like the time that Rad had coaxed (read: forced) Jack to participate in the dueling tournament, he had also forced Jack into playing along with some pick-up game.  It was a direct result of Quidditch being cancelled for the year and a bunch of crazy people who evidently couldn't go a year without out.  Truthfully, not having Quidditch for the year had been a little bit of a let down.  Being the child of two Slytherin players, one of which had gone on to play professionally, meant that he was pretty much expected to participate in this sort of thing.

Having been designated as a chaser, Jack did not actually require much in the way of gear and was prepared to just kick off and leave when a tiny, petrified squeal behind him had him turning around just as fingers dug into the back of his robes and an arm wrapped in a vice grip around his waist.

Oh right.  He'd forgotten.  @Akiva Khalsa could not fly.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" he shouted, squirming in an attempt to knock her off the back of his broomstick as the quaffle landed in his lap within 2.5 seconds of being airborne.  "WHY WOULD YOU SIGN UP IF YOU CAN'T FLY, YOU WALNUT?!"

Cordelia Waldegrave

First, they take her beloved quidditch away from her, then they make her fight some cheap imitation blowtorch, and now they plopped her on a team with all these strangers. Strangers that probably wouldn’t appreciate the charm and charism that was Cordelia Waldegrave. AKA strapping a table to your broom and hosting a tea party mid match. But what was a girl to do, some people just didn’t have vision.

But anyways, back to her current predicament of finding a way to keep herself from falling asleep from boredom since she was actually trying to pay attention to the match and not play matchmaker, host a tea party, surprise slug bomb the opponent, or playing air traffic control. “Juan! Damaris! When’s snack time?” she asked after lobbing the quaffle at the nearest blob who was hopefully on her team.

Rad couldn’t believe he’d let Jack talk him into this.

Yet here he was, big red Quaffle in hand, flying on and broomstick and praying that he didn’t majorly mess up in front of a massive crowd. His eyes turned to scan said crowd with a leery eye. Luckily, the commentator had been cut off by the quick actions of a beater, and hadn’t gotten around to saying his name in that echoey boom.

Any shame he suffered could be suffered as privately as possible. Except that Jack was playing, of course.

Flying toward the hoop, Rad tried not to meet the eyes of any of the Keepers. The thought of being the first to score in the game made him giddy; swerving, he hurled the Quaffle as hard as he could toward the hoop closest to him.

Why was one of his first years clinging onto Jack’s… nevermind. Didn’t matter. So long as it didn’t impede Jack’s ability to toss a quaffle, it was all fine. Oh right… Akiva couldn’t fly. He’d learned as much when he’d terrorised the first years in the flying lessons. Duh.

Turning his attentions to the quaffle as it whizzed by the pitch, Juan rolled his eyes at Cordelia’s question, “Hufflepuff’s trained you to be WEAK if you’re expecting snack time. ONLY WINNERS GET SNACKS AFTER THE GAME!”

And then… He watched little Radueriel approach the hoops, aim the quaffle… No way… Wait, Juan quickly moved towards the bludger that flew by him and aimed it at the closest Hufflepuffs.

“Damaris! Didya see Kaleb’s face? I swear I wish I had my phone to record that!” he cackled.

Kaelyn Paddock

As much as Kaelyn liked to think of herself as a keeper rather than a chaser in the romantic sense of the word, when it came to quidditch she much preferred being where all the action was, right in the middle of the pitch hogging the quaffle.  However, considering she hadn’t been expecting there to be any quidditch this year, she was happy enough to be playing a pick-up game at all, and even more thrilled to see that Addison and Inara were right up there with her as keepers too.  Three keepers seemed like overkill, but there were more chasers and beaters than usual on the pitch too, so she supposed that balanced everything out.

“Let’s just see the other team get past three seventh year Gryffindor girls,” she grinned.  “Hey, Addie, if one of them looks like they’re about to score, just look at them like you’re going to pull out your wand on them and let Inara and I take care of things by the hoops.  Everyone should play to their own strengths, yeah?”  And as far as she knew, Addison was better known for her dueling skills, and definitely not her flying ones.

He couldn't believe how much he had missed Quidditch.

There was just something about being on a broom, a certain feeling that was unparalleled by anything else. The wind rushing through his hair, feeling somewhat weightless as he weaved through a few of his classmates and got used the weight of the bat on his hand. It was definitely a good distraction to have right now, one that literally took him away from coursework and most people. It may have not been his normal team, but there was still a sense of camaraderie as people with similar interests gathered together to put together a quick game.

Simon pulled to a stop, waving his bat around nonchalantly as he surveyed the field, inhaling deeply as he watched Ollie guns blazing. Damn, she was a sight to behold. He wished he could deliver bludgers with such finesse. The Ravenclaw readied himself, following closely the bludgers and their erratic flight patterns until he gaged one coming for one of his new teammates Damien. "Got you!" he shouted before swinging it off of its course.

Havana Towne

There was something weird about this game, and well, Havana had pretty much figured it out in a much longer time than she would have cared to admit.

"HEY, YOU'RE NOT ON SLYTHERIN!" she screamed at Kaelyn as she caught the quaffle from the keeper in sector two.

Distracted by the fact that half of her team was on the other team, she weakly tossed the quaffle to the next sector.

"WHAT'S GOING ON HERE? ARE WE TRYING TO WIN A CUP?" She just stared quietly out into the distance after the yelling as she stared at Cordelia just stealing the quaffle.

"SERIOUSLY? WHERE IS THE TEAM WORK?"

Cordelia Waldegrave

There she was minding her own business moping about how lame this match was with the lack of usual Cordelia antics, when all of a sudden she had a quaffle. “Ummm,” she gawked wondering if she had accidentally used a summoning charm. Surely the officials had some sort of charm preventing summoning quidditch equipment, but then again they might have been using knockoff quid equipment, so who knew. “Guys, we have a situation!” And to think Hufflepuff had voted her to be captain last year. Clearly the pickings had been slim.

Preoccupied with figuring out what to do with the unwanted quaffle, Cordelia decided to delegate, “Guys, quick cast a summon charm on the snitch so we can get snacks.” Why weren’t her teammates summoning things.” Why was no one summoning the snitch? Ugh! This must be what it feels like herding cats or how Mercutio felt being in charge of Cordelia.

There were three things that were wrong at the moment.

#1. Damien was playing quidditch

#2. Damien was captaining Quidditch.

#3. Damien was captaining a team that wasn't his own wearing robes that weren't Versace custom made, glitterfied and with a sequin slug instead of the traditional badger.

#4. Delia was his co-captain.

Actually okay, make that four things that were wrong at the moment the latter being the most important because he didn't WANT to talk to Delia. He didn't want to share airspace with Delia. He didn't want to BE IN THE SAME PLANET as Delia and yet. AND YET the princess of retail whose surname initials formed the popular hipster brand and pathetic excuse for fashion, was invading his life.

"Don't you have a broom shed or something to be at, Princess?" Whatever, Delia was irrelevant to him and to prove that he ignored her long enough to bludger his slug-loving house team co-captain.

When Aiden first heard that quidditch was going to be cancelled because of the Tri-Wizard Tournament he was extremely disappointed. So, when he found out that there was going to be student quidditch he immediately signed up. Playing beater was worrying him a bit though, he was a smaller kid and he didn’t know how well he would do playing a position that you needed to be strong to play.

Most of his worries disappeared as soon as the game started. It was exhilarating and even though he could feel his heart pumping in his chest it was out of excitement. He watched a bludger fly towards one of his teammates. He yelled, “Look out!” before knocking it out of the way.

Aurora somehow wound up on a quidditch pitch with a bunch of really tall people and…Hufflepuffs as captains? No one would ever really complain though because this was a fun game and she had a beaters bat. What could go wrong? Nothing. So there was a free blunger that a ickle had knocked away and Aurora zoomed towards it, hitting it towards the other team. This wasn’t just an ordinary quidditch game. This was a game of a hot mess and filled with nothing but great Hufflepuffs, Slytherins and…Juan? What was a Juan? Aurora didn’t know. Her only best friend was Simon and her bat.

Shiloh had been given a beater's bat. Shiloh had only ever used one of these in practice but now that they were zooming around the pitch with a whole bunch of people she had never actually seen play in a cup game, she figured that meant it was a time to go hog wild.

For the first few moments of the game she gave the bat more than a few swings, just to get used to it actually being in her hand. Flying with this wouldn't be as difficult as flying with the Quaffle, she could do it no problem, even if it wasn't the normal feeling.

When she spotted the Bludger heading for Cordy, she just had to get in the way; especially after that Interception. Sure this was just a pick-up game, but it wasn't like she had Cup Quid to care about right now.

Zoom zoom, off to stop a teammate from getting smashed in the face.
