Maggie mac Ruaidhri

                                 about me

Name: Margaret Mary mac Ruaidhri (formerly Whelan)
Nicknames: Maggie (universal), Maggie Mae (familial), Petal (adopted father)

House: Slytherin
Birthday: February 26th
Hometown: Galway, County Galway, Ireland
Blood Type: Unknown  Halfblood
Five words that best describe your character:

forthright ➝  Maggie is not one to skirt around something. She'll be upfront with you from day one, without question. How'd she get this scar? Oh it's from the accident that killed her birth parents. Did you want to see the others?

resourceful  Where there's a will, there's a way, and no one is better at finding a way than Maggie. She'll use whatever tools she has at her disposal to get out of a bad situation if she feels it's necessary

venturesome  Maggie doesn't want to sit at home all the time, so she'll get out there in the great big world and find something to occupy her time with.

ambitious  Maggie has plans. Maggie will do whatever it takes to see those plans come to fruition.

untrammeled  The only adopted child of a single dad, Maggie is quite used to her freedom. She's perfectly content being on her own and being left to her own devices.

Hair Color: Black. As she gets older, Maggie starts experimenting with color combinations
Hair Style: Varies in length, but is often tied back in some fashion
Eye color: Brown
Complexion: Pale from spending most of her time indoors
Height: 4'9"

  • Maggie has a series of thin scars that run from the hairline on the left side of her face and down the length of her neck
  • She has a chipped front tooth after dueling Kay Wickham

Boggart: Being confronted with the death of her adopted father, Shay. Already, Maggie has had to say goodbye to her biological parents and to the only other father figure she had, so to lose this one as well would be devastating to her.

Patronus:Unknown at this time. Though there are any number of unhappy memories, most of Maggie's life has been filled with happiness for the most part.

Amortentia: tbe

  • Dance: Maggie is trained in ballet, contemporary, and Irish dancing. Any excuse she gets to show off is a happy one for her

  • Liars: Maggie would much rather you be upfront with her than lie to her face.

Favorite subjects: Potions, Herbology

Disliked subjects:  n/a

Favorite places: dueling chamber, Slytherin common room

Inspired by:

  • Kay Wickham: makes dueling fun
  • Addison Toft: dueling mentor

  • Through her mentor Clayton Stagg, Maggie obtained a First Year Survival Kit which contains the following

    • A handful of smooth rocks in a bag labeled 'skipping stones'

    • A list of all the clubs Hogwarts currently has to offer

    • A case of muggle candy plasters (Clayton thinks this is what the muggles use to treat injuries)

    • A vial of Zombie Antivirus (actually just a brand of bruise removal paste)

    • A pack of Levitating lemon drops

    • A spell-checking quill (purple)

    • An extendable ear

    • A deck of exploding snap

    • A beginner's wand sheath in dark brown

    • A multipurpose polishing wax

    • A pair of spider tweezers, which Maggie has taken to carrying around with her

  • After competing in a pirate contest, Maggie has won a stuffed parrot pet, which has been charmed to say a number of phrases, ranging from common pirate phrases to 'Professor Santiago is the most handsome!'

  • Can speak Irish and some conversational French, in addition to English

Wood: Fir
Core: Unicorn Tail Hair

Length: 10 3/4 Inches

"Fir wands demand staying power and strength of purpose in their true owners, and that they are poor tools in the hands of the changeable and indecisive. Fir wands are particularly suited to transfiguration, and favor owners of focused, strong-minded and, occasionally, intimidating demeanor. Fir wands are called 'the survivor's wand.'"
-HP Wiki

Unicorn hair is a more subtle wand. It is also hands-down the best core for healing, as it picks up some of the healing capabilities of unicorn blood. Unicorn hair has a reputation of picking gentler or more cerebral users, so it is common amongst Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws. More laid-back Gryffindors and subtler Slytherins may find themselves with a Unicorn hair wand.

As the Unicorn hair can be removed without the death of the creature, the Unicorn hair wands specialize in Charms as Charms may be extremely powerful, and the generality of them, expertly cast, are quite permanent, some may be fairly easily countered or canceled, however. The Healing power of the Unicorn lends itself well to Healing and other more subtle arts such as Seeing.

Good For: Charms, Healing, Seeing, COMC, Divination

PISCES (February 19 - March 20)
the Fish. Mutable, water, yin - planetary rulers: Jupiter and Neptune. Keywords: "I BELIEVE"

Pisces is the twelfth sign of the Zodiac, and governs the feet. Positive traits include idealism, wisdom, intuition, empathy, imagination, creativity, adaptability, compassion, and an uncanny connection to all that is spiritual and otherworldly (which makes for talent in magic); negative traits include being easily influenced by other people, gullibility, a lack of backbone, escapism, addictive personality, impracticality, emotional game-playing, delusion, and a total inability to say "no."

This is not the most natural of sun signs for a Slytherin to be born into, but it's not unheard of, and when it happens, the results are usually interesting. These Slytherins dream big. Because of their romantic streak and their need for mystery and glamour, their dreams are often the most dazzling of all. To put them into fruition, they either need to develop a pragmatic streak, or partner up with a practical wizard who will help midwife the dreams and keep them going. These Slytherins are loners or followers rather than leaders, but don't assume that they are doormats - they wouldn't be Slytherin if they didn't have some backbone. They will accomodate people to the best of their limits, but if those limits are pushed or violated, they will get angry - and they will remember. A Pisces never forgets a cut or a kindness. Ever. Slytherin Pisceans often delve into mysteries involving death and afterlife, for Pisces is naturally placed in the house of endings; Pisces wizards in House Slytherin will also be brilliant seers and potion brewers. Because these wizards are good with people and human psychology, they understand everybody around them; and because they are so quiet and unassuming, nobody notices that they are there. The wise Pisces in House Slytherin of course is aware of this, and uses it to advantage.

ASH: (Fraxinus spp.)

A Druid sacred tree. Druid wands were often made of ash because of its straight grain. The Ash is one of the sacred Druidic three: 'Oak, Ash & Thorn'. The Ash is associated with applications in magick for sea power, ocean rituals, karmic laws, magical potency, healing and health, protection, love, women's mysteries, prophetic dreams, prosperity. The European variety (Fraxinus excelcior) was referred to in the Eddas as the species of Yggdrasil - the 'World-Tree". The first man, named Ask, was created from an ash log. Ash was commonly used to make spears because of its 'springiness' and straight grain. In North America, strips of black ash were split along the grain to make splints for baskets and hoops. It is used in weaver's beams. Women would weave cloth and intermingling threads together in a tight pattern as the microcosm and the macrocosm are united. Ash can be used in spells requiring focus and strength of purpose, and indicates the linking of the inner and outer worlds. Put fresh ash leaves under your pillow to stimulate psychic dreams.

Personality type: The Performer (ESFP)

ESFPs have an Extroverted, Observant, Feeling and Perceiving personality, and are commonly seen as Entertainers. Born to be in front of others and to capture the stage, the ESFP personality type loves the spotlight. ESFPs are thoughtful explorers who love learning and sharing what they learn with others. ESFPs are “people people” with strong interpersonal skills. They are lively and fun, and enjoy being the center of attention. They are warm, generous, and friendly, sympathetic and concerned for other people’s well-being.

Chaotic Good: A chaotic good character acts as his conscience directs him with little regard for what others expect of him. He makes his own way, but he’s kind and benevolent. He believes in goodness and right but has little use for laws and regulations. He hates it when people try to intimidate others and tell them what to do. He follows his own moral compass, which, although good, may not agree with that of society. Chaotic good is the best alignment you can be because it combines a good heart with a free spirit.

        the relationships

 addison toft

[VH31]Addison stared at her clipboard. She blinked. Blinked again. Rubbed her eyes. First there was Adrina Althaus-Valerio, the girl with the never-ending name. And now there was some weird mishmash of letters, like a random collection someone had taken from a group of suggestions, and then tried to turn it into something that only Reid J. Fauchelevent could pronounce. "Maggie mac... Roo... ay... duh... ree? Maggie mac Roo-ay... okay forget it - OI, MAGGIE. ANY MAGGIES OUT THERE? COME HERE FOR YOUR MENTORING DUEL."

 clayton stagg

[VH33]"Oh, darling. You know magic can get rid of that unsightly half your face?" It slipped out before Clayton could stop it and the male was suddenly frozen in time, panicking as he realized he just called the poor girl's scar unsightly. No, it was worse. He called her unsightly.

 kay wickham

[VH37]When Maggie evaded her spell with a split of all things, Kay couldn't withhold a gleeful laugh. "Dude!" she cheered, "That was sick!" This girl was exactly Kay's kind of crazy, and it was definitely a good sign for duels to come.

 ivan drogon

[VH37]As the heavy boy caught his breath, he heard the music as the faded back into view and suddenly saw Maggie mac Ruaidhri.

Slow and graceful. A refined beauty to it, this has to be it. But Ivan could never something like. He was too meaty and she was moving like the way birds fly. She was so happy. Taken away by the music and so soaked in the moment of sweet grace.

He wanted to join in, moving like the swans and birds he adored. So he mimicked her, not attacking the movement so hard, allowing himself to flow. He was still too....awkward and slow, but..Ivan had always felt heavy. For once, he felt light.

Once upon a time, there was a little girl who had dreams of being a dancer. Then she discovered that she had magic flowing through her veins, and that she had been accepted to a boarding school that would help her hone her talents into becoming an amazing witch.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is the start of Maggie's journey.
