      How to get sorted   10/05/2017

To find the Sorting Form, click on the "Sort Me!" tab at the top of the page.    Before you go to fill out the form, make sure that you have a username that follows our rules. If you don't, your form will be rejected. You can change your name once yourself, by going to Account Settings -> Display Name. If you've already used your one change, you can request a name change in this topic. Be sure to read the first post in the topic carefully so we can get you updated without any back and forth.   Don't rush to answer the form! There's no prize for sending it in first. Please take your time and fill out the form thoughtfully, so the hat will have the information it needs to put your character in the right house.     Calendar: Sorting Form appears: Thursday, October 5th Sorting Form closes: Friday, November 3rd (No forms will be accepted after this date) The Sorting Ceremony closes: Sunday, November 5th, about 10am Central Time You find out your new house: Sunday, November 5th, 11 am Central Time First day of the new school year: Monday, November 6th   (For reference: Central Time Zone includes Chicago, Illinois)   How to get sorted:   1. Register with a name that follows our rules. The registration agreement explains the rules about names. You can also find them in the Rules.   2. Remember you may only send in one form total for this school year. If you send forms in from multiple accounts, we will not sort ANY of them. Then we have to feel bad about not sorting you. Don't make us feel bad, please.   3. Click on the Sort Me tab and fill out the sorting form as thoroughly as possible. The better we understand your character, the more likely we can put you in the right house. See "How to use the form" below if you're confused. For some in depth information on each house, please check out this topic on sorting. (Note: After you fill out the form, a copy will be PMed to you. Please save that because we delete them from our system after sorting.)   4. Wait for a PM from the Sorting Hat. Be patient, it could take a few days. If you don't receive a PM from the Sorting Hat within 4 or 5 days, contact one of the moderators.   5. If your form is: Accepted: Congratulations! You should now go post in the Sorting Ceremony topic in the New Member resources forum. This is very important. This post is where you'll go to find out what the Sorting Hat had to say about you. Don't skip this step! Rejected: Don't worry, you can still be sorted. Be sure to read the reasons for the rejection carefully, then edit your form (just click on the Get Sorted! link again) to fix the problem. Once you've done that, you can send the form in again. 6. That's it! Once you've gotten your acceptance letter AND posted in the Sorting Ceremony, you're all set. You'll find out where the Sorting Hat put you on Sorting day when you can check the Great Hall for the edited Sorting Ceremony.   How to use the form: The form is pretty straightforward and user friendly. Here are a couple tips: You don't need to fill the whole thing in at one sitting. You can finish one page at a time and save it. Then finish the rest later. Don't use your browser's Back or Forward buttons. Use the buttons in the form to Navigate.  If you don't fill out all the questions on a page, you can't save or move on. If you don't meet the word number requirements in the In Depth section, you can't submit the form. Use the "Check Word Count" buttons to see how many words you've used. If you fill in the wrong answers on the quiz page, you won't be able to submit the form. After you've submitted the form, you can't access it anymore. But if your form is rejected, you'll be able to see it again with your old answers still filled in. Still have questions? Ask here.    Note: Section I: Short Answer Please include a brief explanation with each answer. I'd like to remind you all to include an explanation with all the short answer questions. The answers to those questions aren't very useful for sorting unless you explain them.   Otherwise, we don't have enough information to sort you with. (Translation: we'll have to reject it.)     Many thanks as always to Arianna Wright for her hard work revising and updating the form and to Faraz Memon for initially coding it many years ago. <3

Term Two, Week Four - History of Magic Class
Joint Lesson with Fifth Years

cont. from HERE

"Alright agents!  Fan out and collect clues.  This is the case we've been waiting for." Seeley called out, to any of her comrades that had bothered to distract themselves from the vast bathroom and the older students to listen to her overeager voice.  Though she hadn't really inducted anyone in particular into her little club, so to speak, most of her closest friends knew what she was up to in her spare time and would likely be able to offer up some kind of expertise.

Not to mention, she'd be able to see what they were working with.

"So... does anyone want to start with checking all the stalls?  And then I think maybe the taps and of course the mirrors too." She rattled off some good places to start as she began to trail around the perimeter of the room.  A task easier said then done with some many students crammed into such a small space.

What in the world were they doing here? Why did he have to follow Seeley here. And once again she was being bossy. Well he is in training to be an HBI agent, whatever that was. He was just hoping for free food. "What are we even looking for?" He stopped listening in class because he didn't want to get called on again. Clues, they were looking for clues, but what kind of clues were they looking for.

He was just walking around, not know what he needed to do or look for. He wouldn't make a great agent and his grandfather was a Auror. Well, he wouldn't be following in his grandfather footsteps at all. Looking down, he saw something that was shiny. Picking it up, he couldn't tell just what it was, it was round and silver. "Seeley, is this a clue?"

Fern bounced on the back of her heels excitedly as she listened to Seeley's instructions. Well, half-listened, because the other half of her was racking her brain because WHY did this sound so familiar? She was sure she had to have read this before.. hang on.. The Ravenclaw dropped to the floor and started pulling stuff out of her bag and stacking it next to her. Paint brushes, quills, jars of ink, half-eaten licorice wands, and of course, her books. It was probably in Hogwarts, a History or something. Or maybe just their textbook? That would make sense.

"Doing top-secret research, Seeley." she murmured without looking up, skimming through the pages. If any of her instructors would set them on a hunt to solve a mystery when the text was right in front of their noses, it would be Grimsby.

"Yes... good." She pointed at Fern, who had immediately taken out her textbook to start pulling any research she could find.  That was such a ravenclaw thing to do.  Once upon a time Seeley thought she should have been in ravenclaw, but now she saw the truth.  She was a clever girl, but hufflepuff was definitely her place.  It was true what they say, the hat was always right.

"As soon as you find something, let me know." She mumbled, and then made some steps in Desmond's direction, resting a hand on his shoulder she peered at what he was holding in his hand.   "You know, it could be." She reached for it to take a closer look.

Small, round and silver -  a disc of some kind - "Good work.  We will have to see if it fits into anything.  Maybe it's a piece to a puzzle or some kind of key."

Rowan was dying.

Okay, maybe that was a little dramatic, but she was having a very not good time being stuck in the bathroom. Last time she was here it was not good and this experience wasn't going to be very good either. She'd managed to recruit an older student to help calm her down and attempt to help her escape.

Her friends, however, were apparently conducting their own investigation.

"Um, i-if you guys find a way out could you tell me." She asked, her voice raspy and eyes red from crying.

Being that Rowan was Seeley's roommate she had at least some kind of insight to the horror that might have been running on replay inside the depths of the fellow first year's mind since the moment they stepped foot in the bathroom.  But, rather then allow the girl to get herself stuck in that endless record spin, the blond had another idea.

Sidling up next to Row and linking her elbow through the other girl, she rested her hand on her forearm and patted it gently.  "You know Row, you could help us find the way out.  The more people looking the faster it will go."  Distraction was key when someone was dwelling on some horror and Seeley was not about to let her friend sink lower and lower if she could help it.

"Here, can you hold onto this thing Des found." She thrust the metal object into Rowan's free hand.  Perhaps the cool, silver disc would soothe the girl somehow.

Rowan took the item that was handed to her; a bit odd that this would just be sitting in a bathroom. Still, holding onto something was helping to make the situation feel more real and less like a terrible nightmare that she'd never wake up from. Well, Desmond's DiskTM and the fact that Seeley was being so kind to her.

Then again, her roommate was always kind - even when she was trying to help Rowan out of the blanket mess that she'd gotten herself into earlier. It was a Hufflepuff trait or something (one that definitely skipped over that Rosie girl, because she fell out of a mean tree and hit every branch on the way down.)

"Y-yeah, you're right. More people will make it go faster." She finally responded, giving the blonde a fond smile before beginning her search.a
