SAFE ZONE:: GREAT HALL

22 posts in this topic

Professor Wollice was a true Slytherin and had managed to get out of patrolling for a while or found the easier tasks to do. After weeks of breaks beyond the normal work week, she had found herself stuck patrolling the Great Hall and ground floors. She had assumed today would be an annoying one with many student encounters but she was spoiled by a Hogsmeade weekend. The only students hanging in the Great Hall and lurking around the hallways were the ones too young to go, too cool for Hogsmeade or otherwise. It definitely decreased her workload.

She was not alone however. There was Professor Bourdelle with her too. Wilona had been wary of making more Professor friends. Who needed more of those when she had Owens (Arithmancy bffs for lyfe)? Still power in numbers against any mischievous children and she would take the company. It made the day just a little bit better really.

Wilona was almost considering signing up for the next Hogsmeade weekend and considered this day to be quite an easy one when a note came zooming towards her. 'Death Eaters in the castle - Llwyd' Well there went those thoughts. The Slytherin Head of House frowned, "We have a problem." She told her fellow Professor showing her the note. Wilona tried to appear calm and not jump into crazy reactions. "We need to lock down the Great Hall now." Wollice began aiming her wand at the Hall walls, hand waving in complicated motions as she muttered ward after ward.

A couple students unaware had tried to leave the hall and found themselves blocked by an invisible barrier. It prevented any student from coming out and and adults from coming in besides herself and Bourdelle. It wasn't the only one, she had equipped objects outside of the hall to defend the Great Hall from threat and more. Plus there was whatever Bourdelle had done to protect the Hall too. "Everyone please take a seat! This is a lock in and I need everyone to remain calm and quiet." She instructed.

"One of us should venture out and snag any stragglers." Wollice suggested to her co-worker.

While Professor Bourdelle much preferred to spend her hours outside the classroom doing tasks that didn’t involve the presence of children, there were occasions when her job description required her to lurk among them again anyway. Patrolling was only one such thing she dreaded, for while she often dealt with monkey business within her own classroom walls, what she bore witness too outside them could be… well- disturbing, to say the least. The woman dreaded it each time, certain that if she had to find another snogging couple or break apart yet another fight, she would flat-out lose her mind and potentially unleash the wrath of a mad woman upon their youthful souls. But alas, she tried to make the best of things when she could. And more often than not, she had company.

Dahlia appreciated such on relatively quiet days like this one. With a good half of the student body off to Hogsmeade, there were only the younger ones and a few stragglers left behind for her to watch over. The former Ravenclaw took this as an opportunity to catch up on a bit of light reading, clasping a book in her hands and skimming over a page or two before looking back upward to make sure there still wasn’t any funny business occurring anywhere nearby. All was well with the area for a good long while, too- but just as she reached a rather interesting plot point she noticed a note soar through the air towards them.

Shifting to watch her counterpart with interest, the woman frowned at her statement and looked over the note herself. “…indeed” she replied. In an instant, her wand was drawn and she began putting up a few protections of her own, her legs instinctively taking her over to the edge of the space. “Already on it.”

Stepping just outside the hall, Dahlia reached out to grab the first student she could find. “Get in” she demanded. “Now. And you! Get over here! This castle’s on lock-down.”

This thread is now open. <3 Feel free to post here with your reactions, however you deem fit.

Claiming first grabbed student

“Merlin’s beard!” Edward exclaimed as he felt a hand grab hold of him, “What do you think you're do...”

His voice faded into nothing as he realised he wasn’t being hauled about and shoved by Leslie or Brae. It was one thing to get a little steamed when he thought it was them hauling him around but quite another to find the arm belonging to a professor with his Head of House right beside her.

“I’m sorry, but I wasn’t doing anything wrong, why are you forcing students insi…locked-down?” Edward felt his stomach churn and turn sour. Lock-downs were never because something good was happening. “Why is the castle locked-down? What about the students at Hogsmeade? Or the ones outside? Or upstairs…”

Something bad was happening and his niece and their best friend were now someplace else and probably looking for trouble because you know that’s what stupid Gryffindors did and though neither of them were stupid, they were in Gryffindor and very likely to get carried away with the adventure/danger thing. As his imagination went wild with all the stupid things Leslie could get up to as she dragged Brae along, B.B. found his heart starting to pound and his breathing go nutty, a sure-fire sign that he was losing it. Not even a whole month in and he had already failed on his solemn promise to Kal! He was someplace where they weren’t and he couldn’t keep either of them safe! And Leslie wasn’t known for her restraint and Brae wouldn’t be able to keep her from getting into the thick of things…

“Are the Gryffindor students coming down as well? I promised to watch out for Leslie and Brae! Her dad’ll kill me if either of them gets hurt," panic made his voice shrill. If he’d had any feelings left about himself he might have winced at how girly he sounded but all his concern was on them. Why had he made such a stupid promise to his brother-in-law in the first place? Leslie was older than him for starters and certainly more capable of dealing with anything dangerous than he’d ever be!

Why had he vowed to keep her on the straight and narrow? Yes, that was why! He recalled his view and that just made him want to bang his head against the nearest wall. Yes, he’d made that promise because he firmly believed that the castle was safe, nothing would harm any of them, and that if anything did crop up, his father would be there to save the damned day! With all of that being firmly held as being true, what harm was there in promising Leslie’s father that he’d watch out and keep her safe? Hadn't he listened to any of the stories his sister had told him? Hadn't he paid any attention to all the warnings his mother had given him? Yes he had and none of it had sunk in.

So one stupid promise later and he wasn't going to live to see Christmas! His brother-in-law would see to that if anything happened to his baby girl. Then he'd bring him back to life so he could kill him all over again if anything happened to Brae! The man could take down anything from quite a distance with his bow and he wasn’t a slouch when it came to fighting either; Edward knew he'd stand no chance at all!

“Merlin! I’m so dead!” Edward groaned. “Just kill me now..."

With the sixth floor safe zone being a bust, George continued on towards the ground floor. Unless it was already a battlefield, he knew the Great Hall would be transformed into a stronghold, just as it was when the school went on high alert against Sirius. If the doors were already sealed, getting in would be difficult, unless your name happened to be George Weasley.

Sticking to the shadows as much as possible, he made his way towards one of the smaller side doors to the Great Hall, and gave it a slight shove. The rock solid resistance confirmed his suspicions. The Hall was being used as another safe zone.

George unwrapped a square of bubble gum, popped it in his mouth, and began chewing. One of his main assignments from Kingsley, beginning on the first day he joined the Order, was to apply his brain to find ways around every day obstacles that hindered the Order. A big problem they commonly ran into was "how to get somewhere people don't want us going," like magically locked rooms. That's where his special "Waddiwas-key" came into play.

Stronger than an Unlocking Charm, it could undo a surprising amount of protective measures, and it was his goal to someday get it on shelves of WWW to aid the future generations of troublemakers. Slight issue with the process, though, in that the Ministry was wary to approve of anything that directly made burglary easier. Big surprise.

Taking the wad of gum and placing it onto the door's lock, he tapped it once with his wand. The wad came to life, and oozed into the keyhole. George heard it clink and clank, then gave way to a faint hissing. A bubble began inflating from the keyhole, and the door began to shake as the bubble grew larger and larger, until it popped! The door swung ajar.

Slipping into the Great Hall, he stuck to the walls as he visually searched for Alayna, Desmond, and Dylan. He heard someone mutter something about another safe zone by the Greenhouses. Was that were they were? He couldn't see hair nor head of his siblings' grandchildren here. Debating whether or not to stick around, in case any of them showed up, he feared they were still stuck somewhere in the castle, exposed and in danger. Trekking out the Greenhouses was a large commitment of time, because if he went out there, there was no way he'd be able to make it back in time to save them if something happened......

Whispering into a miniature, wooden box, he held in his palm, George recorded a a brief blurb, and sent the block zooming out one of the windows up by the ceiling towards the Greenhouses. He hoped someone there would get his message and be able to respond. In the meantime, he sneaked out the side door he came in, and sealed it once more, before resuming his search around the castle.

A reanimated dragon with bronze scales soared through an opening (window? hole in the wall? door?) into the safe zone. It dropped a parchment onto the nearest individual’s head before fluttering off again.

((Taking the student the student the Dragon dropped the parchment on))

Silas had never really been one for Hogsmede, or friends really. Instead, he’d decided to spend the Hogsmede weekend at the school to catch up on studying for OWLs. He wasn’t really the best of students, or the most stand out member of his family by any means, though he did try his best, and kept his nose clean, much to his godmother’s dismay. She’d been trying to get him to be mischievous for as long as he could remember. That was neither here nor there though, as it never took, and he never really understood why she cared that much.

He’d recently decided to take a study break and head down to the Great Hall to get a quick bite to eat before all the good healthy food was gone, when Professor Bourdelle barked at him to get in the hall and that the castle was on lock down.

“Lock down?” Silas asked, curiously, “Is everything okay?” He asked.

“Is there anything I can do to help?” Seemingly just as he’d said it the answer appeared in the form of a cool looking bronze dragon, that dropped a parchment on his head.

“Uh… Do you want me to do something with this parchment?” He asked the professors in charge.

"What's it say?" Edward demanded. It was just the distraction he needed because he was going to go insane if things stayed the same with him not knowing what was going on.

Silas’ eyes widened. He probably was not supposed to have gotten this paper. It was probably supposed to have been for the professors, and now one of the first years was asking him what it said. Silas had tried hard to block out the note that came with the list. It really wasn’t polite to read other people’s mail, but he couldn’t help seeing the words Death Eaters.

'Alright Silas, never give up. You don’t want to let this kid down. You don’t want to have to run around, or avoid any teachers trying to hurt you. Play it cool. Don’t freak the kid out.'

“Uh…” He said, he was not a convincing actor, or liar. It was times like this he wished he HAD taken some of his godmother Alex’s advice to learn to be a mischief maker.

“Basically just what the professors’ve already told us. We’re in lock down.” Silas said, with any luck the kid would believe him. After all the other kid seemed young. He sent a pleading look to the two professors nearby, as if begging them to take the parchment from him. Outside of not being a good liar, he didn’t like to lie either… But in this case it seemed like not causing the other boy and any others in the hall to freak out seemed like it could potentially be for the greater good.

“What’s your name?” Silas asked, quickly changing the subject, and hoping he could convince the kid to give his name without telling him that he was checking him into this lockdown list that appeared to be from another professor.

Edward totally rolled his eyes at the older student; he hadn't been born yesterday! Whilst there were probably some first years who would be completely losing their gobstones right about now, he wasn't one of them...or rather he was, but for the totally different reason of he couldn't do squat stuck here.

"You honestly expect me to be pacified with that?" he asked, "Like really? Good try but go find some dumb kid to play it on...". Edward paused and then shrugged, "My mother's an auror and my dad's a professor and I know this ain't a drill...it wouldn't be half the shambles...nor so haphazard...and the timing is all wrong too."

Why did people insist on treating him like a kid? He might have only been eleven but he was certainly going on at least sixteen. You didn't get much chance to be a kid in his family, not with his mother's policy of never lying or sugar-coating stuff. Sure, she might keep the details PG-rated but she never kept stuff from them. If the school had any sort of emergency drill, they wouldn't stage it when most of the students were at Hogsmeade.

But Edward also knew that he had to play by the rules and he really didn't fancy creating a scene. He'd clearly indicated he could handle whatever information was on that parchment, act older than his years, and not go into a hysterical wreck at the drop of a hat. "Edward Borage," he replied in a much less snotty tone.

He glanced around, lowered his voice and asked what would be a fairly obvious question for anyone with half a brain to ask given the situation, "Look for a Froglegs and Thanrion...Gryffindors...please."

Rayya had been by this room several times already and hadn't had any reason to enter but now with two children unable to walk under her care she had no option. Hopefully she'd be able to make this stop a quick one and get on her way. She knew it was unlikely for several reasons but she just hoped that the teachers understood that she had a job to do and would refrain from asking endless questions.

Very carefully she manoevered the pair through the doors and gave the room a quick scan. Her eyes landed on one child who looked to be annoying an older student. It didn't even take half a second to recognise him but in that small space of time her legs almost collapsed in relief; her beloved B.B. was safe and looking well.

The relieved mother in her wanted to forget the two kids she was currently attending to smother her son in kisses and bear hugs but she stopped herself and didn't even draw his attention to her. 'Sorry B.B. I'll get to you later' she thought silently, it wouldn't be the first time her kids were put on the back cauldron but she had to work. She hated it, but that was just the way things were.

So ignoring her son, she firstly sat Ethan down against the nearest wall, making sure his leg was comfortable. "There you go kiddo. Now let me see to your friend."

Next she moved the girl to lie next to the boy and lifted the spell keeping her unconscious. Carefully she crouched down next to her. "How do you feel?" Rayya asked, careful to make sure her wand was trained on the young witch but out of her immediate sight. She wouldn't hesitate to put her back under if the girl so much as moved a toe out of line.

He was floating in the air; it was a lot scarier then he thought it would be. It might have been better off he would have been sleeping when this happened at all. Though, it was just not something that was going to happen at all. It seemed that they were going to be going to the Great Hall. He really did hope that they were going to be safe there.

As he was lowered to the ground, Rayya had made sure when he was lowered that his leg was comfortable. Sitting on the floor, it was nice to be able to sit there and feel a little safer, though he was still looking around, hoping that no masked man was following them at all. He was still on the lookout for someone coming after him. Was he going to be like for the rest of his life he didn’t know.

Then she saw that she went to wake up his friend, he was not scared of her at all. He was hoping that whatever spell the masked man put on here was gone. “Alayna” he said in a soft voice, looking at him. He wanted to hug her, but he was going to wait to see how she was feeling. Also it didn’t help that he was not able to walk. “Do… do you know who is coming to fix my leg?” He asked, he wanted to be able to walk around, he was tired of not be able to do anything at all. "Also... Thank... Thank you for being here." They were safe, he looked at Alayna. Hoping that she would say something to him.

It seemed like the darkness had clung to her forever, enveloping her subconscious like a cocoon. And Alayna, not knowing any different, allowed it to. She felt very peaceful there, and for once completely unaware of any of the horrors currently consuming the place she’d always thought was safe. It was nice, comfortable. She didn’t want to go. The arrival of a very pesky light demanded otherwise though, for it pulled and tugged at the strings of her refuge until a river of voices replaced the lull. Who was that? No, no, no! She didn’t want to know! ….Ethan? Where was Ethan? Was he okay? No! The fuzzy image of his broken form danced in front of her, his mouth opening to say something she couldn’t quite hear. Then anger, crippling in strength, tainted the image in red.

Horrified, Alayna flinched away from it, but the action only made the voices louder, stronger. She could feel the hard ground beneath her now. But what was… where was… Ethan?! Hearing the sound of his voice again unraveled the final string and the girl’s eyes snapped open, but it wasn’t him she saw hovering over her. Rather instead there was a woman. Someone she didn’t know. Out of instinct, the redhead shot up and pressed herself up against the nearby wall. “Wh-who are you?!” she cried out, “leave… leave us alone!”

"leave...leave us alone!" a girl cried out.

Edward jerked his gaze away from the list of names and focused on the new development. He had thought that they were to be safe here. The girl's cry made his stomach lurch and sink in a sickening way. It left him feeling both drained of energy and flooded with it at the same time. His eyes went wide with recognition and, not stopping to think, he rushed over and barged into the woman, pushing her a step to the side.

"Hey! Hey! There now. It's okay," he said to the girl with his best smile. He aimed it at the boy too. "She won't hurt you."

Then he turned and shot the woman in question his best imitation of her glare, "You really know how to scare people don't you? Way to go! I'll never make friends if you're running around the place scaring them all! Thanks!"

He turned back to the pair, "Sorry 'bout that. Edward Borage, and that..." he jerked his head in his mother's direction without looking, "is my mother."

(permission granted, it works both ways)

Before she could offer a single word to reassure Miss Weasley, she was being rudely shoved out of the way. If the person had been anyone other than her son, she would have already hexed them into next week. Clearly he didn't think much of her modus operandi and wasn't afraid to call her out and tell her off with a glare he'd stolen from her. Gods she loved her son!

"I was trying to be reassuring whilst assessing the girl to see if she were still under the effects of whatever spell she'd been placed under. Damned good job she's fine or else you'd have put yourself as her first victim," she admonished her boy. Rayy moved over and tousled her son's hair and pulled him in for a tight hug. "You need a haircut, it's already grown out."

Her boy freed himself from her grasp and glared at her some more. School did this to kids. It made them grow up too fast. Made them independent before their parents were ready to let them go. He wasn't her baby boy any more and it made her both very proud and profoundly sad all at the same time.

"Okay, okay, I'll back off," she muttered. Giving Edward a good looking over, she didn't need to ask all the fussy-mother questions. He was fine, unhurt, and peeved; in short everything a young man ought to be when confronted with parental love in front of his peers.

She turned to the pair she'd brought down. "You're both safe now. Edward'll look out for you if you need anything." Rayy planted a kiss on his head (which was further from the ground than she recalled) and added, "Be a love and go fetch one of your teachers, that leg of his needs tending and they both need something hot to drink."

Knowing that they were in good hands, Rayy turned and left the Great Hall before she killed her son's social life for good but probably not soon enough for his liking.

Continued from here

No sooner had Ryan hugged Rayya goodbye did he appear in the Great Hall, propelled by the banishing charm that she had cast on him. As soon as the whirl of colors ground to a halt, the force of the charm caused him to fall to his knees, and the spinning color made him promptly throw up before he was able to assess his surroundings.

There were no Death Eaters in the Great Hall, just a couple of professors and a group of students. Most of them he couldn't recognize--aside from Alayna. She looked even more frightened than usual, which could have only meant one thing--she had been one of the unlucky ones.

He got this feet as quickly as he could. "I'm alright," he said, though that might have been doubtful, considering the fact that he'd just thrown up. "Just a little bit dizzy, going to be fine. No Death Eater injuries here to report!"

He took a few cautious steps in Alayna's direction. "It's okay now. Everything's...okay."

It seemed that Alayna was really out of it, she was freaking out over the person that helped them. Then again she didn’t know that she was the one that saved him. “Alayna.” He said, grabbing a hold of her, trying to get her to calm down. And someone else walked over, and it turned out that the boy that joined them was the son of the lady who helped them. “Alayna, look at me.” Ethan said, “she saved us, we are safe. We are in the great hall.” He didn’t know if he would be able to walk anytime soon, since no one was coming over to help him at all.,

“Hey Edward, thank you for helping. But can you please do what your mother asked, I can’t walk because I have bones sticking out, and I would really love to walk again.” He said to the younger boy, hoping he would listen to his mother. Then he looked at Rayya again, he was able to feel like he was able to trust her. “Thank you, please make sure that everyone else will be safe.” He didn’t know who else was out there at all. He just didn’t want anyone else to get hurt.

“Alayna, lay on me please. It will be alright, I promise. We are safe from that man in the mask.” He hated them, he never seen his friend like this at all. He hoped that she would lay on him and let him hug her.

"Geroff!" Edward grumbled. Even though he was relieved to see his mother, he had a budding reputation to uphold and she was rapidly killing with every single word and deed. He heaved a sigh when she left and didn't need any further urging to get his butt into gear. If she thought he'd not do as she asked, she'd be back, only he wouldn't be getting hugged and kissed.

Nope, nope, nope, he didn't need more urging to undertake the tasks she had charged him with. The older boy could just cool his heels a bit and give him a sec to rearrange his hair with his fingers and rub her kiss off his face. He turned to go and almost walked right into the newcomer who also seemed to be a fan of the girl.

Sighing and wondering if he'd ever be that popular, Edward went to fetch his HoH. "Excuse me, Professor Wollice, but there's a boy who's got a broken leg. My mother would very much like you to tend to it...she's the auror who just brought them in."

If it were at all possible for her to meld herself into the stone, she would’ve done it. Every cell in her body buzzed with the desire to run, but there was no space to and even if there was, Ethan… she couldn’t leave him there alone. She felt to boy take hold of her and her gaze immediately shot downward to look at him. His hurt leg was wrapped in a bandage now. How long had she been out? The question pressed at the tip of her lips, but there was no time to voice it before another joined them and rammed himself into the woman with such suddenness that it made her jump. Alayna watched him with a guarded look, though how he acted would’ve certainly been odd if she were dangerous.

Her gaze flicked between the two for several moments until something the woman said caught her attention and her breath caught in her throat. For… victim? She… she hadn’t… no. One more look at Ethan was all she needed for grief to take over and then Alayna collapsed to the floor and hugged her knees to her chest. “I... Ihurtyou” she cried into her cloak, the sound slightly muffled by the fabric as she buried her face into it. “I’m s-so sorry.”

And there she stayed, even as another walked over and tried to reassure her. Everything’s okay? No… nothing, nothing was okay.

Ethan was not going to let go of Alayna at all, he was not going to let her be sad at all. Sure the events that happened were not what they were planning at all. Seeing his friend back moving made him a lot more at ease. Knowing that she was alright, and not just lying on the ground. He was not able to stop the masked man from hurting her. He wished that he was able to stop that masked man, why did he spend so much time in the chamber if he was not able to help his friend, was there even a point of being in the chamber anymore. Knowing that he had to get better, so he could protect himself and his friends better.

As he saw Alayna hug her knees to her chest and went to the floor, he moved the best that he was able to move, to hold on to her. He didn’t feel the pain in his legs anymore, but he knew that he was not able to move a whole lot. “Alayna, please look at me.” He said to his friend. “I can’t move a whole lot, but this,” he pointed to his legs, “this was not your fault, you didn’t do this to me. That man, the one in the masked, he broke my legs.” He knew that his friend was not capable of hurting him. She wouldn’t hurt him. “You didn’t hurt me.” He said, with tears forming in his eyes, he didn’t like to cry in front of people. Just seeing his friend upset, it made him upset. “Please, don’t blame yourself for this Alayna, I begging you not to.”

He hoped his friend would know and understand that they were safe, nothing or no one would be able to hurt them here at all. “Believe me, you will always be my friend.”

Silas noted the first year’s annoyance with his lie, and just sort of shrugged it off.

“Got it Edward Boarage… Like the Professor?… And Thanrion and Froglegs.” He nodded, he really was pretty sure he probably wasn’t supposed to be the one taking charge of this situation, but the professors didn’t seem to take too much issues, so he was running it. He did like to be in the known, and anything to procrastinate studying for OWLS.

Just then things got very interesting, a beautiful older woman came in with a bunch of other students in toe. Okay, so maybe there was no use hiding anything now. This lady didn’t work at Hogwarts, and all of the sudden people were coming out of the wood work right and left, and Silas was just confused.

He watched and observed a few minutes, and managed to garner that she was an Auror, and also Edward’s Mom.

Apparently the one of the children she’d brought in had hurt the other, and it was just a mess, a broken leg… But if Death Eaters were running around and that was the worst of it he counted himself lucky. Hopefully no one would end up the way that poor girl had a few years back. Silas was trying really hard to keep it together.

“Does anyone else need anything?” He asked, “Have you been added to this list yet?” He said, just setting it down on a table, not even caring about whether or not anyone saw its contents. He had to make sure these younger students were all okay.

“I don’t know any healing or anything… But… Uh… Umm… I give good hugs? And I can go get food.” He was doing his best, and hopefully wasn’t making the situation worse, “Or I can check any of you into this list, or tell you if any of your friends have checked in other safe places around the school?”

“What should I do?” He asked, looking up at the professors, now really trying hard to keep it together.

The older boy's offers of generalised help sounded good and he wasn't the only one who didn't know anything about healing so that kind of made him feel better, even if it made him feel just as useless as before. He couldn't do much to help but follow his mother's orders and keep out of the way. But Edward knew that no matter how impotent he felt, he had it better than the older boy who'd taken down his name. Up until now he'd believed that age conferred great wisdom and longed-for adulthood status that meant you always knew what you were doing. The epiphany he now received was that this was not always the case and that being older didn't always bring anything other than more confusion.

Not exactly pleasant as it shattered several long held beliefs but Edward also realised that he was in far better shape to help out and it wasn't by staying out of the way. The older boy was losing it and all that would do would add another student to the growing list of those that needed help.

Edward turned from getting help from an adult and made his way back to the other lad. "I didn't catch your name but you said something about getting food? Like from the kitchens? We should totally go do that and bring something back. People are bound to want to eat at some point, right? And you can show me the way."

Yup, people who were about to lose it needed to be given something to do and the getting of food was going to be the tool he used to help the older boy.

"Come on, lead the way. We'll bring back heaps of things...drinks too," Edward ordered in a tone his mother would have used if she'd stuck around.

Tangle had been enjoying a nice, little snack as she poured over her Care of Magical Creatures textbook in the Great Hall that day. Hogsmeade was certainly overrated, but she rather liked the peace that fell over public places on those Saturdays.

Finishing her last bit of toast, she had made to get up and put her things away, the outdoors calling to her per usual, but she stopped mid rise as the Professors got up and announced that they were on lock down, and then proceeded to cast spells to barricade the doors. Frozen, and heart sinking, Tangle plopped back on the Hufflepuff bench, trying to push away the creeping anxiety that started whenever she was 'locked in' anywhere. "You are above you're claustrophobia," she muttered to herself, pulling her open textbook closer to herself as she started to feel the large Great Hall shrink in size.

The walls weren't closing in as quickly as they would have when she was eight years old and even the mention of a locked door sent her in a downward spiral. She tried to concentrate on pushing out the walls as various things happened around her from a dragon appearing to more students appearing and an older woman. Breathe in, breathe out, she told herself silently, but despite her best efforts, her heart rate was climbing, and what once always felt like a large expanse was now minuscule. It was suffocating, and she could feel herself start to hyperventilate. Pulling in on herself, she started rocking back and forth, silent except small whimpers coming out at each rock forward. It had taken longer than usual, but she had completely succumbed to her claustrophobia.
