New students: when you go to fill out the Sorting Form, we recommend you switch to another theme. Right now the form is not very easy to read on Castle theme. You can find the theme switcher at the bottom left corner of every page.

      How to get sorted   05/13/2017

To find the Sorting Form, click on the "Sort Me!" tab at the top of the page.    Before you go to fill out the form, make sure that you have a username that follows our rules. If you don't, your form will be rejected. You can change your name once yourself, by going to Account Settings -> Display Name. If you've already used your one change, you can request a name change in this topic. Be sure to read the first post in the topic carefully so we can get you updated without any back and forth.   Don't rush to answer the form! There's no prize for sending it in first. Please take your time and fill out the form thoughtfully, so the hat will have the information it needs to put your character in the right house.     Calendar: Sorting Form appears: Saturday, May 13th Sorting Form closes: Friday, June 9th (No forms will be accepted after this date) The Sorting Ceremony closes: Sunday, June 11th, about 10am Central Time You find out your new house: Sunday, June 11th, 11 am Central Time First day of the new school year: Monday, June 12th   (For reference: Central Time Zone includes Chicago, Illinois)   How to get sorted:   1. Register with a name that follows our rules. The registration agreement explains the rules about names. You can also find them in the Rules.   2. Remember you may only send in one form total for this school year. If you send forms in from multiple accounts, we will not sort ANY of them. Then we have to feel bad about not sorting you. Don't make us feel bad, please.   3. Click on the Sort Me tab and fill out the sorting form as thoroughly as possible. The better we understand your character, the more likely we can put you in the right house. See "How to use the form" below if you're confused. For some in depth information on each house, please check out this topic on sorting. (Note: After you fill out the form, a copy will be PMed to you. Please save that because we delete them from our system after sorting.)   4. Wait for a PM from the Sorting Hat. Be patient, it could take a few days. If you don't receive a PM from the Sorting Hat within 4 or 5 days, contact one of the moderators.   5. If your form is: Accepted: Congratulations! You should now go post in the Sorting Ceremony topic in the New Member resources forum. This is very important. This post is where you'll go to find out what the Sorting Hat had to say about you. Don't skip this step! Rejected: Don't worry, you can still be sorted. Be sure to read the reasons for the rejection carefully, then edit your form (just click on the Get Sorted! link again) to fix the problem. Once you've done that, you can send the form in again. 6. That's it! Once you've gotten your acceptance letter AND posted in the Sorting Ceremony, you're all set. You'll find out where the Sorting Hat put you on Sorting day when you can check the Great Hall for the edited Sorting Ceremony.   How to use the form: The form is pretty straightforward and user friendly. Here are a couple tips: You don't need to fill the whole thing in at one sitting. You can finish one page at a time and save it. Then finish the rest later. Don't use your browser's Back or Forward buttons. Use the buttons in the form to Navigate.  If you don't fill out all the questions on a page, you can't save or move on. If you don't meet the word number requirements in the In Depth section, you can't submit the form. Use the "Check Word Count" buttons to see how many words you've used. If you fill in the wrong answers on the quiz page, you won't be able to submit the form. After you've submitted the form, you can't access it anymore. But if your form is rejected, you'll be able to see it again with your old answers still filled in. Still have questions? Ask here.    Note: Section I: Short Answer Please include a brief explanation with each answer. I'd like to remind you all to include an explanation with all the short answer questions. The answers to those questions aren't very useful for sorting unless you explain them.   Otherwise, we don't have enough information to sort you with. (Translation: we'll have to reject it.)     Many thanks as always to Arianna Wright for her hard work revising and updating the form and to Faraz Memon for initially coding it many years ago. <3

PERMISSIVE RECKLESS ECCENTRIC SMART LOYAL

april 1, 2025 ; muggleborn

These Ravenclaws will have lightning-fast mental reflexes. Aries is an intellectual sign, but it is also an impatient sign; Ravenclaws who were born under this sign are likely to tolerate no dull wits or stupidity, whether they see this lack of mental competence in themselves (in which case they will berate themselves for not understanding, or give up quickly in frustration without really trying to overcome their difficulty in learning) or in others (in which case they will lash out at the offender with acidic comments and haughty, cutting looks). These Ravenclaws will want to be at the head of the class, dominating other students in their chosen intellectual field, and may be almost as competitive as Slytherins. However, the true aim of every Ravenclaw is knowledge, knowledge, and more knowledge. While a Slytherin might see losing a magical duel or being bested by another student in a DADA class as humiliating, the Ravenclaw will probably just take delight in competition for its own sake, and see defeat as a learning experience.

the debater - ENTP-A

100% EXTRAVERTED | 70% INTUITIVE | 63% THINKING | 83% PROSPECTING | 78% ASSERTIVE

The ENTP personality type is the ultimate devil’s advocate, thriving on the process of shredding arguments and beliefs and letting the ribbons drift in the wind for all to see. Unlike their more determined Judging (J) counterparts, ENTPs don’t do this because they are trying to achieve some deeper purpose or strategic goal, but for the simple reason that it’s fun. No one loves the process of mental sparring more than ENTPs, as it gives them a chance to exercise their effortlessly quick wit, broad accumulated knowledge base, and capacity for connecting disparate ideas to prove their points.

11 ½ inch holly, dragon heartstring

Holly is one of the rarer kinds of wand woods; traditionally considered protective, it works most happily for those who may need help overcoming a tendency to anger and impetuosity. At the same time, holly wands often choose owners who are engaged in some dangerous and often spiritual quest. Holly is one of those woods that varies most dramatically in performance depending on the wand core, and it is a notoriously difficult wood to team with phoenix feather, as the wood's volatility conflicts strangely with the phoenix's detachment. In the unusual event of such a pairing finding its ideal match, however, nothing and nobody should stand in their way.

As a rule, dragon heartstrings produce wands with the most power, and which are capable of the most flamboyant spells. Dragon wands tend to learn more quickly than other types. While they can change allegiance if won from their original master, they always bond strongly with the current owner.

The dragon wand tends to be easiest to turn to the Dark Arts, though it will not incline that way of its own accord. It is also the most prone of the three cores to accidents, being somewhat temperamental.

Freedom is important to Ollie, who has grown up in a home employing lax rules and a disregard for rigid systems. Her lack of ties to a routine has grounded her development in independence, becoming a young girl with a free spirit which takes her wherever she desires, with a great contempt for the rules. It is important for Ollie to feel like she is directing her own life, which she won’t realize until she is older, as the burden of rules and responsibilities feels entirely too restrictive.

Living in such a progressive place as Brighton leads to Ollie also being a free of mind. A great free thinker, she is no sheep, and will have her own opinions she is unafraid to voice and will march to the beat of her own drum, not wanting to idolise other people. Even from a young age she is critical of society and institutions, and she is entirely accepting of the vast walks of life she will experience at Hogwarts. So what if some werewolves are sister eating monsters? The other werewolves probably love their sisters, and that is what matters! Stop lumping people together like that it is rude!

Elevating her permissiveness are her eccentricities. To put it shortly, Ollie is downright weird. Her unique outlook on life only helps her shun the rules and do as she pleases, as she sees the world in a way perfect to her and not for what it really is. All of her behaviour is perfectly normal in her eyes - who doesn’t want to skateboard down a moving staircase with fireworks attached to the wheels for propulsion or try and convince the mermaids and the giant squid to join her rendition of ‘Under the Sea’? An amalgamation of her traits mentioned creates quite the reckless, rebellious girl. In her quest to be true to herself and break through societal boundaries, Ollie is unafraid to tackle something head on, rarely thinking of the consequences of doing so. She never stops to think those fireworks will eventually explode or that the squid might fight her, she just wants to have fun! This might get her into trouble, but she accepts all detentions, loss of house points and/or limbs, and angry letters from her parents with little guilt.

You may not expect it from the fact she shows absolutely no sense of self preservation and acts like a general idiot, but Ollie actually has various smarts. With vast pockets of information, she can surprise people with what she knows - her downfall being she will only actually research something if she finds it interesting. Due to this, Hogwarts will be tough for her. Though some of the bloody battles in history and the hands on approach to certain subjects will be enough to ensure she at least thinks about doing her homework, Ollie was not made with a classroom environment in mind. As such, she has the shortest attention span and a knack for acting the class clown in an attempt to make things more interesting and to avoid tackling the harder parts of the curriculum. If she applied herself, she could be a genius, but her aversion to the classroom is too big a barrier for her to really shine. It’ll be mainly with practical work where she will excel, good at thinking on her feet and adapting to succeed. The smarts people note with her tend to be street smarts - yes she gets herself into trouble but she also is quite adept at getting herself out of it. With a quick mouth and a brain to match, she can talk herself out of a sticky situation (unfortunately her mouth is often too quick and lands her in even more trouble) and if that fails, a childhood spent on the streets allows her to run for cover, bounding over and weaving around obstacles with no troubles.

Finally, Ollie is incredibly loyal to a select group of people. ‘Select group’ being important here. To her closest group of friends, Ollie would throw herself into danger to protect them, and good luck to whoever hurts those she loves for they will have made an enemy for life in Ollie, who would seek to avenge her fallen friend. Even if her friends are in the wrong, she would stand by their side until granted the privacy needed for her to question their life choices. Anyone not in this group provides an interesting case of Ollie being fickle enough to work with them one day and then denounce them the next. Like most of the grades she will be receiving, Ollie is a total T, a troll who exists for entertainment. If she hears of a particularly fun escapade happening, she is more than willing to forget allegiances to tag along, reverting back into indifference to the person once the deed is done. She is also loyal to her causes, never abandoning her thoughts on a broad range of equalities and justices regardless of what other people try to get her to think.

★ ★ ★

LIKES ; Causing trouble and mayhem, pulling off pranks, heated debates, anything to do with dragons, the smell of damp grass in a morning, swimming in the lake, making friends, barbeques and bonfires, or any source of fire really.
DISLIKES ; Ignorance and prejudice, the enforcement of rules, power trips in authority, bullies of her closest friends.
QUIRKS ; Twists her hair around her finger in a rare show of anxiety, snores loudly, snorts when laughing.
HOGWARTS ; Ollie doesn't do well in a classroom environment so lessons will be tough for her. When something does grab her attention, she will be able to excel greatly but this rarely happens as she would literally rather be anywhere else.

Ollie is of average height, of average build and appearance wise... generally unremarkable in every way. As a rather pale girl, her family often joke that she has never seen the sun which Ollie capitalised upon by starting a rumour she was a vampire back at her junior school. Ollie's hairbrush is often neglected so she has messy, knotty hair that she ties up in a bun atop her head but starts falling down after less than twenty minutes. Her family is rather poor so all her clothes are ugly hand-me-downs that are ill fitting and have terribly sewn up holes in and her shoes are falling apart at the seams. Since discovering potions there will probably also be weird stains on her belongings, and her pet miniature dragon ensures singed fabric too. Her go to outfit is some old paint splotched overalls with whatever relatively ironed shirt she can find underneath. She also has pretty deep dimples which lead to people calling her cute - which sucks.
