She really hadn't thought this through properly. Ann sighed as she climbed the entire four flights of stairs just to get from the chambers to the Hospital wing. Her physical stamina had, obviously, declined over the summer break, the lazing around having finally taken its toll.

Slightly puffed, and clutching her lower chest, the Prefect finally made it to the Hospital wing, leaning on the door frame for a few seconds to catch her breath. Why had she agreed to this again? Why couldn't she have decided that leading ickles straight from A to B would be the best method? She still had a few stops to make before she was finally done and if she was fast she wouldn't be late to the feast.

Because, for once, she wasn't coming into the hospital wing due to some unfortunate incident, the Ravenclaw felt the need to knock on the doorframe- awkwardly of course, before even more awkwardly making her way to Madam VonHaus. Once there, she stopped. Now what? Where the heck was Monika to shove this onto?

With a lot of stuttering, the Prefect finally managed to splutter out what they'd planned (it had sounded a lot more graceful in her head), before leaving the clue (and answer) in the safe hands of the healer in charge.

Ugh, where did Monika go? D=

Aura had just arrived with the other students on the Hogwarts Express. Don’t ask her why she had taken the train, but she certainly had her reasons. Had she opted to use the floo network, she probably would have been prepared already and downstairs at the feast. As it was, she was almost ready and rushing through the beginning of year routine of filing away the new first year medical files and straightening up her office. She extinguished the light in the office when she was finished and headed towards the large double doors of the Hospital Wing where she intended to leave and join her colleagues for the sorting feast. Undoubtedly, the first years were about to finish their trip across the lake.

She was about to reach the doors when she saw a familiar Ravenclaw leaning against the door out of breath. “Miss Asian?” Aurora inquired and moved closer. When the young Prefect finally explained herself, Aurora smiled, only too happy to help her former house. She didn’t recall getting anything so elaborate on her hike through the castle her very first day there. It might’ve even come in handy. “Not to worry, my dear, I’ll make sure I am up here before they are,” she assured. She waved her wand at her office door and locked it before exiting the wing all together.

------------------

After the feast was finished, and Aurora had the shocking revelation of another Braelin child attending the school, she was up in the hospital wing, as she promised the new Ravenclaw prefect. Now all she had to do was find out if this kid was in some way related to her.

The healer waited, and waited for the first years to visit her in the Hospital Wing. And then they were there, and she was suddenly a little nervous. What was she supposed to say? “Hello, first years!” she said. That seemed like a good start. “I’m Madam VonHaus, and welcome to Hogwarts! I was a Ravenclaw, just like yourselves. I am responsible for treating any injuries you might have, be they magical or not. If you have any questions about anything, feel free to come and see me! My office door is usually open.”

The first years were there for a reason, though, and she didn’t want to delay them from the festivities they were sure to have in the common room that night. “Well, I suppose you’re here for your next clue. Here it is: Feed me a cookie, the chocolate chip kind. An abundance of knowledge, in me you'll find. Locked away, a room on the fourth floor. A room of knowledge, just open the door.” She bid them farewell as they left the wing in search for the answer.

Eric was actually getting pretty tired, taking himself on a clue-driven tour throughout Hogwarts. He was, however, finding it to be a solid opportunity to put his theoretical knowledge into practice. It was actually turning out to be easier than he had expected. He only got turned around a few times before he found himself in a room filled with beds, curtains, and a woman who was clearly the school nurse. Or medi-witch. Whatever the proper term for a witchy nurse was.

Anyway, the lady standing in front of him seemed nice enough. "Hi," he said shyly. "I'm Eric. I'll uh...probably be seeing you." The young boy did not see himself as being particularly clumsy, but he had bad luck unlike any he had ever seen. His parents called him "accident prone," but he was frequently embarrassed to describe himself as such. He preferred to keep himself out of danger and much as possible and take the proper steps to make sure he was taken care of when something, inevitably, went wrong.

Eric decided not to offer the nurse an explanation, since she would probably be talking to a ton of first years this evening. Instead, he focused on the clue. "A room of knowledge" seemed pretty obvious, but so had the cat clue. Still, he had no choice but to make his way toward the fourth floor, cookie in hand, hoping he wasn't wrong again. He was pretty sure if he got lost again, he would just collapse into a heap and go to sleep where he was.

Rushing up to the Hospital Wing Cricket was almost out of breath, she wanted nothing more than to come first in one part of the course they were on. Pushing open the door she paused to catch her breath. Why did everything have to be up a flight of stairs? And most importantly, why did Hogwarts upgrade to elevators and escalators? They would save so much time and effort that way. Or at least, save the students from whining and complaining about the effort it took to get to class.

After having the Medi Witch introduce herself Cricket smiled and decided to introduce herself. ‘Cricket Silverstar, most likely I’ll be here a couple times during the year.’ Yes, Cricket was one of those people who would require a band aid for the smallest of paper cuts. But that was for another time. Right now what was important was that she was here for a clue.

‘A room of knowledge that a cookie?’ She repeated wondering what sort of door only opened after being fed a cookie. Shrugging she figured that it would be worth walking up and down the fourth floor looking for the said room. ‘Could it be the library?’ It was a possibility, she would start there for sure. Thanking the Medi Witch Cricket left the hospital wing to climb another set of stairs.

He was starting to be worried. It was one thing to break an entering at a teacher’s office, but entering the hospital wing? That was something he was respecting. After all there could be patients there that needed rest and quiet and definitely not a bunch of first years eager to find their next clue and get the heck away from there. Sherlock once again followed a bunch of other people towards the desired destination. Conclusion, other people did not care about possible patients, so why should he?

Upon entering he saw a woman that was waiting for them VonHaus was her name something Sherlock quickly noted on a piece of paper and a pen he was carrying with him all the time. Why was he carrying a piece of paper and a pen was a totally other story. He just liked to have something to write on just in case. Sherlock heard the clue. Then again it was an obvious clue, a school just had to have a library right? And that library was at the fourth floor. What a waste of time! Going up stairs again.

This was starting to get tiring. The castle was huge! How many more stops could there be?

Well, at least, she hadn’t gotten lost trying to find the hospital wing. She’d made it in just in time to catch the speech given by Madame VonHaus. Even as she rattled the off the clue, she wondered if maybe there’d be a way to stick around just a little longer and ask her about being a healer. But that was silly. She’d have plenty of time for that. It’s not like the hospital wing was going away. In any case, the clue was super obvious. A room full of knowledge? That had to be the library, right? Though she couldn’t figure what was up with the cookie. Hopefully, she wouldn’t have to give one in exchange for the next clue, because she had none.

In any case, it was off to the fourth floor for her.

The hospital, another room of safety though it was slightly foreboding. Being in hospitals made Kitty worry about all the people who would need to be treated there. Exploring the castle and it's grounds was exciting. It reminded Kitty of all the hikes and nature walks she and Kian took part in back home, except here she was still a little worried because she didn't know the area.

This riddle was pretty straight forward. Kitty knew that the room of knowledge had the be the library, a place she was really excited to see! The cookie thing didn't really register with her, maybe she would be needing the cookie she snagged from the kitchen, good thing it was in her pocket along with a strip of bacon she had been very reluctant to pick up. Off to the library it was.

After petting the cat in the Transfiguration classroom long enough to probably distance herself from the clobber and chaos of fellow housemates, Harlow paced around the second floor. However, the eleven year old soon realized that by ostracizing herself, she really had no idea where to go to next. Sheepish and feeling rightfully ashamed for not being like the others where they could just talk, socialize, and do this whole "group" thing, Harlow decided to run back down to the kitchens where her lot would be. The house elves. Creatures!

Besides, after near starving herself at the Feast, she decided eating her feelings would be irrational enough to make her feel like the others, right?

"I.. oh bother. Not quite sure where the medical ward is... I figured they wouldn't make us take the train all the way to St. Mungo's..." Harlow trailed, as she took off her sopping shoe and placed it near the kitchen fire. She then turned to the house elves. "... Might ya.. give me a hint?" No answer. "Should I just.. keep walking.. up?" She managed to ask, as a house elf in the back gave her a knowing smile. "R-right! Okay, I can do this I suppose. Thank you muchly and best of wishes in your endeavors!" She snorted, pushing up her glasses and putting a handful of cookies and bacon into her sopping shoe. The irrationality was working in her favor, so she had to play this up.

Walking further than before up the stairs, she found a cluster of Ravenclaws go into.. what was this.. an infirmary! Oh thank heavens! Holding her only shoe and now in baggy, mismatched socks, Harlow made her way into the room. There seemed to be a pattern, for if they were on the third floor, and the clue wanted to go onto the fifth.. well good. Harlow's nonathletic, bony legs were crying.

Deciding her plan to find the infirmary seemed to work, she pondered her way up to the fourth floor. But not without nibbling on a piece of bacon from her sopping shoe-bowl for good luck.

... Ew?

This clue had been easy. There was no need to follow anybody else once he'd asked a nearby portrait for the location of the hospital wing. Malcolm could take a leisurely stroll to the wing. Not that even his most breakneck pace looked much more than a leisurely stroll to others.

When he got there, Madam VonHaus intoduced herself very formally, so Malcolm replied in kind. "I'm Malcolm Belby. I made you this." And he thrust one of the hand-braided friendship bracelets he'd been keeping in his pocket into the general direction of her hand. "If you wear it you can be one of my best friends."

With the distribution of the bracelet done, he could read the clue. It seemed obviously about libraries, but he didn't quite understand the part about the biscuit. Never mind. Biscuits were good. He hoped he'd get to eat some more of them, because the two from the kitchens felt a very, very long time hence.

The sharp smell of disinfectant, Simon soon found, was the same, whether in a magical or Muggle hospital, and it was yet another comforting thought to cling to. His reserves had been dwindling somewhat by the time he had clambered all the way up to the Fifth floor, not least because sleep was slowly beginning to plague the corners of his eyes, and so it was a welcome revelation to pass through his thoughts. Blinking owlishly, Simon observed the room. If the Duelling Chamber had been comforting, this felt almost homely.

He managed to extract himself from such daydreams in time to catch the significant chunk of the woman’s speech. Listening to her, Simon assessed that she surely must have been some kind of nurse, despite the fact she hadn’t explicitly stated as such. It was another riddle--an unintended one--that he had successfully deciphered and pride swelled like a hot-air balloon in his chest. Despite his chronic feeling of displacement, Simon reflected that his mind was still ruled by clarity.

Using it as momentum, he finally turned his attention to the next clue. It was, again, self-explanatory. Simon was consequently convinced that the riddles became easier the further up they climbed, perhaps as a reward for ascending so many stairs. The First Year wasn’t particularly used to so much exercise, not since he’d managed to high-tail it out of his father’s rugby club. He wasn’t particularly convinced about the biscuit part, though. What if the crumbs got stuck between the pages?

Ezra had a question for the witch.

Was there a cure for exhaustion!?

WAIT, he knew the answer for that one! Sleep, rest, no homework… and yet after many stairs, and the moving staircase, they were in the Hospital Wing. At least they hadn’t been led astray and had found the right place. Another yawn escaped the boy’s mouth, his lids drooping slightly. “If you were in Ravenclaw, couldn’t you just point us to the right tower?” he asked, but not soon enough. Perhaps if he had eaten he would have had more energy. Maybe if he worked out from time to time, he wouldn’t feel like he was dying.

Panting after his classmates, he realized that they were headed to the Library. WHAT IF THAT WAS THEIR DORM? It would only make sense, most known ravenclaws ate, breathed and whatnot with books. Logical stuff.

Hey, don’t knock his thinking box, he’s a tired boy.

Stairs, stairs, and more stairs. Daisuke had never seen so many stairs in his life, and he had walked a full three kilometers on the Great Wall of China! He sneezed violently as he reached the third floor, he had also forgotten about his stiff allergies to felines, after the fact of course. Luckily for Daisuke, he caught a glimpse of the trailing robes of a few other Ravenclaw first years also participating in this cruel, cruel game. All Daisuke wanted was to go up to the tower and climb into what would presumably be a very comfy bed. And he had his first class tomorrow! He wanted to pull out some of his books and examine them! He sighed; he accepted the fact that he would actually have to pay attention tomorrow instead of reading the corresponding chapter was slightly depressing.

Daisuke soon found himself in what looked to be some sort of sick bay. "Just what I need. Ma'am! Do you have any water?" He asked, tongue practically lolling out of his mouth like a thirsty dog on a hot day. "P-p-please." He panted. The woman didn't seem to hear him, as she was addressing another bevy of students.

Through the pounding of his head, Daisuke was able to register some of the clue. He heard the word "cookies" and the location "fourth floor." Without thinking, he sprang from his squatting position and climbed the staircase with a renewed energy that would make an Olympic athlete's jaw drop to the floor.

Anything with the promise of cookies would have Daisuke back on his feet in a jiffy.

The first year's treks through the castle as she desperately attempted to find her bed were becoming longer and longer and her stamina was dwindling fast. Sadie was relieved to arrive at the Hospital Wing, because she was beginning to think she might just faint if she didn't find the common room soon.

Madam VonHaus seemed like a kind woman, but as happy as Sadie was to meet her she sincerely hoped she wouldn't be having to come up here too often. The thought of having to miss her classes due to an injury was positively horrifying. All the knowledge she would lose! She would just have to make sure she washed her hands thoroughly and avoided any illness as much as she could.

The riddles, Sadie noticed, were also becoming increasingly more confusing. She wasn't sure if this was the food still settling her mind into a sleepy haze or if they simply didn't make sense. More cookies? Please don't tell her she had to travel back down to the kitchens. She would cry. But no, she distinctly remembered the kitchens to be in the cellars, and the clue said something about the fourth floor. Still scratching her head, she followed her housemates out of the Hospital Wing and off to...wherever it was.

“Hey you come back here!”

Zorka's cries after one of her escaped pygmypuffs appeared to startle a boy in a little way in front of her but she didn't pay him any attention. Instead, she ran behind the neon green puff, hunched over, knees bent until she finally managed to clap both hands around the creature. “You have to make it all the way to the common room too!” she scolded, stuffing the pygmypuff back in her pocket before running towards the rapidly opening and closing doors at the end of the corridor.

The Ravenclaw came bounding in towards the end of some kind of speech, but she was just in time to hear the clue. Before she'd left for Hogwarts, the first year's parents had told her she would probably end up in the hospital wing a lot. It seemed like a nice enough place, though it was a little stuffy, she'd much rather be out in the grounds, but it was dark and they probably did't like first years going out there on the very first night. Perhaps tomorrow they would be allowed!

After thoroughly scouring the second floor for the Hospital Wing, Tegan decided to try the next floor up. Bounding what seemed like an endless amount of steps made the first year glad for the few bits of food she managed to scoff from the feast. She sat at the top of the steps on the third floor and indulged in a few glazed carrots. She noticed a few fellow Ravenclaws making their way up the corridor so she knew she was on the right track.

Tegan took a quick bite of mashed potatoes and rose to her feet. She brushed herself off and walked through the door she noticed her classmates enter. She noticed a rather stately woman issuing an introduction and gravitated in that direction. She listened to woman recite the clue and squeaked a thank you, half to the clue bearer and half to herself for abstaining from munching on the cookies during her celebratory stair climbing snack.

Alaina arrived at the hospital wing, her small body feeling extremely tired. Is this ever going to end??? Upon seeing the many beds laid out in the hospital wing, it took everything she had not to just hop onto one and go to sleep. Eyelids drooping, she barely paid attention when the Healer in the room addressed herself. The words were nothing but a murmur to Alaina's ears and she soon found herself dozing off right where she stood.

However, her attention perked upon hearing the next clue. Lifting her head so quickly, she started to feel dizzy. Lightly steadying herself and rubbing a finger on her temple, she thought about the clue. Room of knowledge? Definitely the library. Nodding her head at the Healer, she turned around and stalked out of the Hospital Wing. Hoping the library was the last stop before her bed, she walked briskly to the next destination.

Pippa had no idea how to get to the Hospital Wing on her own. She only made it by the grace of a Hufflepuff who was kind enough to show her the way. “Thank you,” Pippa said to the girl who led her there. The girl nodded and went merrily on her own way. The little Ravenclaw pushed the door open and was immediately greeted by the woman who ran the place and was told she the next clue.

“I didn’t even realize I was supposed to come here!” Pippa chirped at her round of good luck.

The next clue was pretty easy, and asked which way the library was. As she was about to leave she felt her hand sting remembering that not even ten minutes before she’d gotten a nasty cat scratch. Going back over to the lady Pippa held out her hand.

“Hey Doctor lady…” she said not recalling the woman’s name even though she had JUST told it to Pippa, “Does this look infected to you?”

Simon was tired. His stomach full of food was claiming most of the blood flow in his body and whatever was left was in his legs. They felt like they were made of lead as he tromped up the stairs to this place where the rest of the students were feeding into. As he entered he tried to make a mental note as he glanced about and recognized it to be some sort of doctor's place. OK, so if he was hurt he'd come here. Brilliant. Now if he could manage to walk to the lady without drooling on himself or sideshotting to a bed and taking a nap he'd be doing fine.

Her note said something about a cookie and he broke a piece off of his collected one and placed it on the space next to her with a weak smile. OK, he'd paid her for what she'd asked for. Stepping away, Simon glanced about and saw Pippa stepping up to ask the woman about something and something and then her hand. Simon rubbed his face and dragged his legs one step at a time to the doorway where he looked about stupidly. Could someone just show him where his bed was? His brain wasn't able to handle anymore information or surprises like elf people.

Glancing at the cookie and bacon in his hand, he sighed and trudged on with the rest of the group.

Skye wasn't out of breath at the top of the staircase, like some. In fact, she just wanted to finish this! Skye was feeling more awake now than ever, and was ready to finish this.

She flashed the head nurse a quick grin, read the clue, then re-read it. Hmm.. For a moment, Skye stood there, stumped. Then..

"I've got it!" The nurse shot her an alarmed look at the outburst, which Skye returned with an apologetic smile. Without a backwards glance, she popped her last cookie into her mout and speed-walked towards the door, racing down the staircase two steps at a time.

Amber finally made it to the Hospital Wing, right in the middle of Madame VonHaus’s speech. She finished explaining that her office door was always open, and then she read the clue. Knowledge, duh, the library! Amber said to herself. She was in the back, so she easily turned toward the door, but on her way to the library she quickly fell back into the middle. Half way there, her left side stitched. She clutched the sore spot but continued walking. She refused to be the last person back at the common room. Amber followed the large crowd in through the library doors.
