As Adagio made her way up the winding stairs to where the owls slept she had two objectives.

Objective One: Give that nice owl Woden a treat for bringing a letter from her mother. Adagio really needed it!
Objective Two: Practice more for Astrology and take notes on Mars, Jupiter, and also the moon.

Setting up her telescope outside the main part of the owlery and taking her book out of her satchel, Adagio cracked the tome open and searched for the planet Mars. Making sure the telescope was set up in the right direction, she decided to first take a few notes on Mars before completing her first objective.

"Okie dokie, to focus the telescope I have to say the spell..."

Staring down at her paper, Adagio tried to think back to the spell and the feeling of the wand movement. Taking out her elder wood wand, Adagio flicked it gracefully and said the incantation. After a few tries, she was successful and ready to get to work.

QUOTE
Mars: Mars is a relatively small planet compared to earth, and is has a very distinct red brown color. It seems to have two ice caps, one at each pole, and a lot of craters. Maybe it was hit by something earlier in its celestial life? Oh! It also seems to have some spots on it. Not craters, just spots.

Placing her quill down, Adagio reached into her bag for her treats and then began to run up the last couple of stairs into the owlery. When she got inside there seemed to be a lot of birds perching, and Adagio suddenly wondered how she would be able to tell the owl Woden who delivered her letter from all the others. Maybe if she called out the owl would hoot. After all, birds were intelligent, they must know their names.

"Umm, Mr. Woden? I've come to bring you some treats as a thank you for bringing that letter from my mom. It really means a lot to me! Are you perching in here?"

Did Adagio really expect an answer? Well, kind of, but she would never admit that to anyone else. Surely some other understanding and thankful student had come up to the owlery to give the owls a thank you gift and get their homework done. Of course!

Thor had followed the gossip earlier in the week up to the owlery and he was amazed to see how bustling it had been then. Now again Thor had went up to the owlery to see if there was anything or anybody down there. Thor was climbing up the stair when he heard a voice that he had remembered talking to on the first night. He ended up climbing up the rest of the steps to see the only Ravenclaw he could probably be able to spend time with talking to and hanging out with.

Adagio.

“ADAGIO!” he called out to her, “Talking to birds are we? I think I see why the hat put you into Ravenclaw. I’m sure these birds can’t talk back, but I know the know how to understand us. Otherwise, they’d be of no use to us witches and wizards.”

Thor pulled out a dead mouse he found down in the dungeon. He tossed it on the floor and waited for the sign of a owl to come down and grab it.

Adagio had been expecting a reply from an owl, but when she heard a boys voice she couldn't help but to yelp slightly.

"Cor blimey dude! You just about scared me out of my skin!"

Hand to heart, she seemed to be doing that a lot lately, Adagio rounded on her friend? and then rolled her eyes playfully. She had been a bit worried about Thor the past couple of days, but in a weird turn of events she had kind of befriended him without thinking. Talk about odd.

"Hasn't anybody ever told you not to sneak up on people?"

Smiling, Adagio shook her head and then looked behind herself to see if an owl had shown up or not yet.

"It depends on the type of bird right? Some birds can talk after all. Anyways though, I just brought a treat up for Woden since he delivered a letter for me from me Mum. I really needed the comfort of home."

Smiling when she mentioned her mom, Adagio thought back on how she warned her not to trip down a flight of stairs while she was venturing around Hogwarts. Of how she missed her mother's dry humor. She always knew how to make Adagio smile.

A successful scare if Thor would say so himself as he looked at his friend or acquaintance, Adagio. He laughed on the inside as she looked visibly shaken as he walked closer to her. She asked him a question if he was ever taught about sneaking up on someone. He looked at her with an inquisitive look not understanding the question, but she obviously ignored his look and went on about the birds. He looked at the owls in the owlery and back to Adagio.

“Well I don’t think owls fall under the talking bird category,” Thor quipped towards her, “I don’t think I ever heard of anyone giving a treat to the bird who’s deliver them mail. Honestly, I don’t think I’ll ever be using an owl to send mail.”

Thor looked at Adagio as the looked at the owls. Thor noticed a couple owls had gone after the mouse he had found, but had turned his attention to the telescope she had brought up to the owlery in the west tower. He went over and looked into the telescope and it seemed a little blurry, but he’d rather not say anything about it as he pulled out his wand and flicked it, “Tuliatum!”

He looked back into the telescope and looked up into the sky to see Mars. It was beautiful and probably more great than anything Thor’d ever seen. He removed his glance from the telescope, “So this is what we are learning in astronomy? It’s cool.”

Woden flew into the window and saw that nice Ravenclaw girl. And a boy, too. Then he saw the mouse on the floor.

He landed on the soft straw and caught up the mouse with his sharp beak. He swiveled his head eying the two, then lifted up to the table top. He quickly ate the mouse. [It's a messy prospect. I will decline to describe it.] He then found the treat and took it with him to the rafters. He hooted softly, nodding at each student and then returned to his nest.

Adagio was going to reply to Thor when she noticed and owl swoop in and take the rat and her treat. A familiar tag shined in the moon light, and she knew her treat had been received by the proper owl. Smiling, she waved up at the bird.

"Thanks Mr. Woden."

Shrugging at Thor's comment on feeding the owl, Adagio just nudged him slightly.

"Of course I know owls can't talk. Anyways, it's always good to make sure to treat any animal that is helping you with respect. If I didn't and I made Mr. Woden mad, he may not deliver my mail. Heck, he may even find a way to make sure that the other owls wouldn't deliver my mail either! Then where would I be?"

Adagio could not help but to shudder slightly at the thought. No contact with her mother, no sending mail to her friends. It would be the ultimate isolation, and Adagio did not like the idea of being isolated.

When she heard Thor mention astrology, Adagio simply sighed and shook her head. Had he not been paying attention in Astrology? Well, he had to pay at least a little attention, he did know the spell for focusing the telescope.

"Yep, that's what we're supposed to be taking notes on. I got a thing on Mars already, so all I have left to work on is Jupiter and the Moon. Luckily, that spell adjusts to the individual, so I don't have to wear my glasses when I look through the lens."

Glasses and pressing your face against things just did not work out. She could never pay attention to the feeling of the cold glass on her face and squint to look through the scope and see things. Nudging Thor again gently, Adagio chuckled as she looked at the Astrology book she had checked out and focused the telescope on Jupiter. Picking up her quill, Adagio began to scribble a few notes again bumping Thor in a friendly way. Adagio just loved pestering people sometimes and Thor had caught her in a very good mood. Letters from her Mom usually made her very happy.

QUOTE
Jupiter: Jupiter is very very big! It seems to have an eye on one side, but if I read correctly, that is actually a raging storm that disappears from the face of the planet every couple of years. Jupiter seems to be a very tan planet, and it has many different bands of rather neutral colors on its surface. Jupiter has a few moons, but I still think that spot is the most interesting part about it. Oh, and it's a gaseous planet!

Astonomy was in the middle of the night in a drafty tower as Thor looked at Adagio who seemingly questioned him paying attention with a look. He ignored it as she talked about doing her homework about Mars, Jupiter, and the Moon. Thor laughed silently as she talked about doing the homework. Never in a million years was Thor going to be one of the Ravenclaws who ended up studying and doing their homework.

Thor wasn’t a nerd, thank-you-very-much.

“So what do you think about the whole middle of the night class?” he wasn’t sure as he asked the question, what answer he was expecting. He then realized as they were standing in the owlery that there was probably a better place for Adagio to be doing her homework. Not that Thor had ever thought about doing homework himself.

“Why aren’t you doing your homework in the astronomy tower?”

Adagio shrugged slightly as she stepped back from the telescope and pointed it towards the moon. This time, it only took a single tap of her wand and a muttered incantation to get the telescope to focus. What did she thing of the class in the middle of the night? Honestly, Adagio had no real problems with it. Tuesday was no class, so there was no problem staying up late on Monday night.

"Honestly it doesn't bother me at all. I'd probably be up that late doing something anyways. Knitting, talking to someone, reading, anything really."

Shrugging and scribbling down a few notes on the moon Adagio quickly looked it over before folding up her telescope carefully and putting it away.

QUOTE
Moon: The Moon orbits the earth since it is stuck in the Earth's gravitational pull. Without the moon, our tides would be affected, and the Werewolf population would never transform. The Moon is small compared to the planets we have had to look at, and it is white with gray craters all over it. Another name for the Moon is Luna.

Adagio was kind of surprised that Thor asked her why she was studying in the owlery. Did he actually care?

That was a mean thought... We've been getting along just fine, there's no reason for me to be mean. Heck, I could even call him a friend.

Shrugging, Adagio leaned against the side of the stairs and thought about sitting before she decided that she better not.

"The owlery just seemed like a better idea. Most likely everyone went to the Astronomy tower to finish their homework, and I'd rather not be jostled around by someone trying to set up their stuff. Plus, I promised myself that I'd give that treat to Mr. Woden."

Wondering if Adagio could aggravate Thor at all by jostling him, Adagio nudging him again this time more forcefully and then smiled. She finally did it a second time, this time smiling goofily, before she stopped.

"So what brings you up here? You don't seem to have mail to send, you're obviously not doing your homework, and you don't seem like the type to stargaze."

Looking at Thor curiously, Adagio wondered if maybe he was the type to stargaze. It wasn't that far of a stretch to believe.

(OOC: Sorry for the late reply. I was busy D:)

What had brought Thor up to the owlery? He had nothing to send or nothing to receive. His parents were separated from his life because of what his father called the best decision he’s ever made and allowed him to go to Hogwarts. His father had thought that perhaps at Hogwarts Thor would have the magic beaten out of him, but alas it would be bad news when he got back home from Christmas break to show his father that nothing has indeed changed. The only thing on his mind when it came to his father, Haraldur, was revenge. He would make the poor man understand that magical way is superior to the muggle way.

“I don’t know why I’m up here. Spur of the moment I guess,” Thor laughed uncharacteristically as he looked at the telescope that Adagio had brought up to the owlery. He was puzzled by the fact that she had bothered to carry it from the common room down the tower stairs, down the hall, and back up the stairs to the owlery.

“Don’t tell me you carried the telescope all the way from the common room here? What I wouldn’t give for charms to be taught during first term than we could learn the levitating charm.”

He looked down at her notes for astronomy and with a cheesy idea and almost fake voice, “Do you mind if I copy your notes? I don’t want to fail astronomy.”

((OOC: PUNK!!! Lol I joke no prob, I was busy with a snow day yesterday anyways (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

P.S. Pacen St. Charles is at my house and he wants me to tell you that he is more important than you and that I should quit typing lol. ))

Nodding her head in understanding, Adagio grabbed her astrology book and threw it in her bag with her telescope and began leading the two down the stairs.

"I carried it all the way, but it would be great if we had charms so I wouldn't have to carry this heavy thing."

When Thor asked if he could copy her homework she simply rolled her eyes and laughed.

"Maybe if you pay me a million galleons."

Smirking, Adagio bit her lip trying not to laugh but could not help but to let it go free.

"Seriously though, bugger off and do it yourself. The astronomy teacher would kill us he he found out you were copying homework."

Usually she'd have no problem with it, but on subjective stuff like this is was very important to do it by yourself.
