This time she was having a real break from the dueling chamber. Jodie had told herself no dueling spells for at least a few hours and that she needed a break. The girl was taking this dueling stuff to far. It probably was not very nice of her to send fire at first years and decided she needed to do something else. Of course this something else was sorta duel related. Jodie had never visited the trophy room before and decided it would be cool to check out the dueling trophies from years before her. This kind of history interested her unlike the stuff they learned in History of Magic.
After a long trek up a ton of stairs, she had finally reached her destination. Oh. Apparently Jodie was not the only person who decided to take a trip to the trophy room. She stood at the entrance for a moment wondering if she knew the person inside. The Slytherin wondered why the boy kept continually cleaning a trophy too. Sure they might get a little dusty after a while, but one scouring charm seemed good enough. Closer inspection of the person made Jodie realize she knew that kid. Simon Daniels. She rolled her eyes. The boy was probably polishing his flipping dueling trophy. So what if he won? That didn't mean anything.... well it kind of did. The Ravenclaw did have a knack for beating her in the dueling chamber much to Jodie's disappointment. It was shameful really since she was totally better, but her fellow second year wasn't that bad she guessed. With that she strode forward as quietly as she could until she was behind him. Jodie watched him clean the trophy for another moment before speaking up. "What's this, the 100th scouring charm?" She spoke up with a crooked grin. Who polishes a trophy they did not deserve? Simon, kthx.
He may have not been the best dueler in the tournament last year, but he had worked his butt off to get that trophy, and it was his, so if it was meant to sit in the trophy room he was at least allowed to keep it clean. Sure Filchy assigned people to detentions, but kids in detention did not pay the care that Simon wanted to see with his trophy. It was a damn nice trophy. "Scourgify!" Simon muttered, for probably the 100th time. How could there seriously be so many grey smudges on this trophy? It needed to be shining. Too bad he did not know any anti dust charms. His mother had been working on some over the summer, and next year he planned on asking her for the incantations. Maybe he would owl her and ask himself. This was just stupid how much stuff was on this. Maybe Hogwarts needed new house elves. These house elves were so busy with the cooking aspect, that maybe they forgot about the cleaning aspect. Or even worse, maybe the house elves did not like Simon. The other trophies looked pretty clean. Was he nice enough to the house elves? It did not matter in Simon's mind, unless his stuff would then be cleaned less. Now that was a problem. Maybe they had to get him a-- Jodie cut him off. "Well maybe I have, maybe I haven't. Got a problem with it?!" |

Jodie laughed. "Hehe, nope!" She told him. "Just amused, that's all." Jodie told him with a grin. She took a place right next to him instead being all creeper like and standing behind him. Okay, that made conversation a little less weird since she could see his face. She looked over to the trophy that she had watched him shine at least a 100 times.
"Woooo, looks nicee." She breathed out. It would have looked better with her name written across it actually, but it was good to see someone she knew and liked with a name on such a pretty trophy. Actually all of the trophies in their tier had names of her friends on there. Jodie still felt odd about the usage of the friend word, but that's what they were right? "I think you missed a spot." Jodie said reaching out and touching his trophy so that it had a fingerprint on it. Hehe. She playfully stuck her tongue out at him since he probably would not appreciate her doing that. But he had been using that spell quite a bit now, so he had a hang of it and could clean it in a second. "So, what's it like being a dueling champion?" The Slytherin asked. As she waited for a reply, she took a look at other trophys and awards. Some didn't look as clean as they deserved to be. Hmf. If she had a trophy or an award, she would want hers to sparkle. So Jodie leaned towards the case, wand out. "Scourgify! Scourgify! Scourgify!" She called out a few times. Jodie then turned back to Simon. "Sorry... it was bugging me." She added. |

"Dueling champion?" Simon looked down embarrassed. He was not going to reveal to Jodie the absolute truth of all of it. He had not deserved that trophy, nor had he really deserved to beat Simone or Rhydian. Truthfully the bronze trophy two spots down should have been his, but tournament rules were always a little different than actual dueling, making things quite unfortunate. Jodie, however, did not need to know that.
"It's amazing! I mean it gives you a certain respect in the chamber. Like you know how older students used to look at us funny? Well now they know who I am." That at least was the truth. The officiators and older students all seemed to be bringing it up. He was just so well known or something. Maybe people just liked the trophy room a lot. Simon let out a sigh as Jodie touched his trophy. Now this was why he was cleaning it. Every time Simon showed up, there would be another fingerprint on it. "Scourgify" He muttered twice, ensuring the the fingerprint would disappear. He then looked up and eyed Jodie as she went around cleaning other's trophies. It was an interesting idea to see someone cleaning a trophy that was not theirs. How nice of Jodie. "How is dueling going for you anyway? And quidditch?" |

Jodie shifted from where she was kneeling as Simon talked about the respect he had now from winning. She held back a sigh of disappointment from her failure to do well in the tournament. Jodie had unfortunately lost all of her duels in that one. It was quite devastating. But she guessed she could be sorta happy for her dueling buddy.
"That's really good. But it is nice to be known as a non-first year and somewhat as an upcoming threat." Jodie told him with a nod. Yeah, she did know a lot more from the year before so that was always good. She grinned when he didn't seem too pleased about her poking his trophy. Ha! Jodie knew he'd clean that up real quick. Silly Simon and his trophy. Though if Jodie had one, she would want to be be clean and shiny too. "Dueling is good. Still fun as ever, especially since I know a few good spells now. Oh and Quidditch is amazing. I have a good feeling about this year. I heard we are playing you guys the first game. I hope you are ready." Jodie told him with a grin. |

"Oh we're ready." Simon said, returning the grin. Tristan had been working them hard and revving them up for the Slytherin game. They could not stand to lose to the snakes. It would be too much for Simon to handle being beat by a girl like Jodie. Or being beat by the whole god damn slytherin team. They were just too much in general. Oh yes.
"But yeah," he said, eyeing the girl, "I really got to go do some History of Magic homework." This wasn't exactly true. He had realized earlier in the conversation that he had forgotten to write his conclusion in the paper, but it wasn't necessary to do it at that very moment. The abrupt end to the cocnversation was caused by Simon's realization that Jodie and Simon were alone in the trophy room. Why was this such a horrible thing? Because Simon had a sneaking suspicion that Jodie had a crush on Simon. She was always dueling him and talking to him, and making snide remarks about him. Typical of a twelve year old girl in love. Or at least in lust or whatever. She liked him, he knew it. Or maybe she didn't, but it was still getting awkward as hell. The girl had been inching closer ever since the start of the conversation (or was Simon just imagining it?) and it was no good for Simon. Not in the least. He had his eyes on Dot not Jodie. It would stay at that. "Um, don't touch my trophy!" He said rushing out. Now she would have to be alone. Fin.
